Repurposed Cardboard in Posh Chair Shapes

It’s time for some awesome application of repurposed cardboard, folks, here in a set of furniture by the name of Re-Ply. This project works with what designer Dan Goldstein assures is rather unique in both form and method, using broken-down boxes that would otherwise be tossed in a garbage heap, here using them for undeniably strong – and trendy, too.

Best of all, this project is primed for KickStarter, launched now and ready for your support! You’ve got boxes cut and laminated by you, a steel base, and two bolts – and that’s it! The bolts hold the fold in the chair and allow the whole machination to move. Felt is included as well in some cases – and the whole construction can be left with the cardboard exposed or custom printed with designs and logos galore!

The metal base is either powdercoated or zing-plated and the overall dimensions are 30” L x 23” D x 25.5” H – you can reach the KickStarter at Re-PLY Chair and note that it’s already past its funding goal – go get em!

Hand-made wooden lamp gets LED finesse

The design you’re about to look at goes by none other than the name “BOB”, and has one intention: to make you forget about how lovely it is with its simple “it just works” design sensibilities. This device works with LED bulbs, connects with one small black cord, and is made almost entirely of hand-made elements.

The Wood you see throughout the design is uniform and made of essentially the same wood material and grain while the whole design is made to be adjusted simply. Absent here are the ability to make radical adjustments and real lighting changes other than off and on. In this way, this lamp is both traditional and modern – the look is what catches one’s attention.

This Watch goes Ninja

There’s a brand new cool and cute watch in town, and it goes by the name Ninja Time. This little beast has two “eyes” which show the hour and the minute, while the rest of the watch is dedicated to framing them in a way that looks assuredly ninja in style! The entire casing is made from molded plastic, the dials controlled by the ninja’s “ears” so you can set the time whenever you like.

If there’s a cuter watch in the world than this, please tell us about it – what could be more attractive than a set of ninjas running up your wrist? Have a peek at the color combinations as well – blue eyes for great justice!

Tiny Car Tower of Power

What you’re about to take a look at is a vehicle that may be shorter and more to the point than any car you’ve yet experience. This is the eSetta, inspired by the legendary BMW Isetta, made to be as compact as possible with its intent being set for the car sharing environment across the earth. Will its bright red and yellow accents be enough to entice you to get tiny?

This vehicle is inductively charged at sharing hubs which sit around your city, these places being where, like similar bicycle hubs, you’ll be able to unlock and drive a vehicle to your next destination and back – no sweat! The front door has a slide and rotate ability that allows you the driver to enter and exit via the sidewalk – frosting on the pie!

Have a peek and see if you’d be willing to ride one of these sassy little numbers around your local city!

Suck Up Light and Draw It Thusly

The whole world still revolves around the writing tool – don’t you ever forget it. Designer Matej Korytar hasn’t forgotten it, taking the WACOM brand of digital writing instruments to a new level with the WACOM REALISM project: a pen with many abilities. This pen, an advanced stylus as it were, has the ability not only to instantly scan any real-world color and output it to your display and writing app of your choice – it’s got green power abilities as well.

This stylus has the ability to take the heat from your human hand and convert it into enough energy to keep the pen powered for its relatively low energy needs. With wireless connections unnamed as of yet, we must assume that some tech-forward Bluetooth or Wi-fi bond will be used to get the pen’s knowledge of colors to the tablet, Wacom pad, or computer of your choice.

Garcon, one Cup of Light please

There’s a little light in every wonderful project, and here on Yanko Design we’ve got to appreciate the tools just as much as the ideas we produce – for example here a tiny light producer called “T Light”. What this little lamp is essentially a lightbulb in a coffee cup covered by a bit of cloth which enhances the overall quality of your experience. Look like your cuteness to go?

That’s exactly what’s greatest about this project: the fact that it is cute as well as quite possibly the most ergonomically designed tiny lamp in the land. Place this unit in your coffee cup holder, set it on your desk, and place it on your nightstand – all of this works great with a tiny bit of light!

Double Laundry machine for twice the sparkle

When it comes time to do the laundry in a house or apartment complex with multiple tenants living with or near one another, the idea that they might toss all of their clothing into one machine might never occur to them. According to designer Anthony Yu, its because of this situation that we waste a lot more water than we really should be each time laundry day comes around. The solution is one of multiple tanks and a smart machine brain which knows just how much H2O you need per load.

Why would I toss my shirts in with another random person’s pants if I don’t have to? With the Lavadora laundry machine, you’ve got not just more than one separate compartment for clothes, you’ve got a smart machine with an electronic brain which can tell how much clothing you’ve got in and how much water it needs to pump out. This machine also has the ability to filter and re-use water and has a fabulously easy-to-use interface to keep your clothes washing activities as simple as possible

Triangle Towers for iOS Connected Sound

There’s always a place in our hears for another speaker design – and with the letter “L” as well as a couple of pointy triangles on your side, you’ll be set! Designer Morten Gronning Nielsen presents nostalgic technology with contemporary aesthetics in a radio made to bring the past through the future while it blasts some awesome tunes along the way. Here you’ve got the radio experience with a look and sound combination which completes the radio in a way you’ve never had before!

This tech works with Airplay for wireless streaming of music, radio, or audiobooks from your smartphone or tablet computer, or you can rock the radio right out from the center unit, no extra gear needed. That bit of glass you see there in the center is a classic tube amplifier, the triangle tower speakers connect with this system as well.

Bust these little beasts out at a cocktail party which celebrates the A ClockWork Orange aesthetic choices and yours will be a choice never forgotten!

A Holy Lamp for Lovers of Illusion

Created with just an LED strip, a ring diffuser, a power source and a mirror on a bit of back support, this is Aureole, a unique lighting solution. You’ll find that what you’ve got here is a halo of light, made whole by the mirror that sits behind a crescent of LEDs. Hang a series of these on your wall and have a lineup of holy rollers in the making.

Ever want to wake up each morning and feel like an angel? Yuxin Han has the solution for you. Of course the Aureole isn’t made specifically for you lovers of the circlet of godly presence, but it does have a rather pointed nickname: “Jesus Lamp.”

And what’s more, this design isn’t just looking great when its all constructed – the components come in such flat pieces that you’d potentially be able to mail this whole project in a flat manilla envelope! That said, you probably wont want to because glass is breakable: USPS won’t like that!

A Carpet of Stones for the Sure of Foot

Designer Neora Zigler presents a carpet which is at once quite light in appearance but physically heavy to lift. Inside two layers of synthetic fabric are individually sewn stone pebbles, each of them hand-picked to create a bumpy platform for those that want to learn to think before they step. A sense of calm in your heart should arise should you get across this project safely.

The object of this carpet is to not necessarily hurt the person stepping upon it, but to make them consider each step as they take it. Should you have control over your feet and your body while traversing the Pebbles Carpet, you’ll have a soothing massage of sorts to boot.
