Kendall Harvey makes his own Tron Light Cycle for about $600

B.Sameer Kumar:

The entire ‘Tron’ universe does look pretty appealing with sleek bright lines and flowing design and if the movies have not floored you, then this real life Tron Light Cycle might. It is definitely one of the coolest things you will ever ride on the college campus and of course, the best time to take it out is after sundown. Kansas State freshman Kendall Harvey is the creative mind behind this wonderful improvisation and the best part is that it did not take him much more than $600 to craft the Light Cycle.

Not Microwave safe: Portable GameCube made out of Tupperware

B.Sameer Kumar:

Yup, this is one Tupperware dish that you might want to refrain from throwing into the microwave. It will not be too hard to distinguish it from other since there are not many Tupperware containers around that sport a spinning red disk on the back. Someone decided to craft out their own GameCube with a Tupperware container and this one might lack a bit of finishing touch, but since it is still a work in progress that is understandable.

Best optical illusions and how they baffle us

B.Sameer Kumar:

In the words of Morpheus, “What is real? How do you define real? If real is what you can feel, smell, taste and see, then ‘real’ is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. And that is undeniably the truth as reality is perception. And if we tweak these impulses in the right way, one can play a few tricks on the brain. Optical illusions have been around for a while and here are a few of the best that will entertain you, amuse you and offer you an insight into how your brain works. And at any point if your eyes feel strained, do take a break… This is not a challenge!

Nero Multi Trigger: Capture those rare and amazing moments of brilliance

B.Sameer Kumar:

We all fancy ourselves a bit as photographers and with smartphones putting a camera in everyone’s hands and descent ones that too, it seems like everyone knows a thing or two about photography. There have been several occasions when I did try to capture a few snapshots of lightning with my ordinary camera, and one of them almost worked (I like to keep telling myself that after I spent plenty of time looking at the sky like a fool), but you do need something more than just good luck and a descent camera for that. And technology is willing to help you in that regard with the new Nero Multi Trigger.

Vintage Apple: eMate 300 Prototype with clear case now up for grabs

B.Sameer Kumar:

There is no dearth of people out there who love their Apple gadgets. While some of us fall in that category, there are others who just seem to despise ‘everything Apple’ for reasons only they understand. At the end of the day, reality falls somewhere in between. But we are not discussing the merits and demerits of Apple and its business model here; we simply are showcasing one of the collectibles that comes from the past. The eMate 300 was introduced as a low-cost laptop way back in 1997 and while that lasted about a year, all of them did come out in a dark green.

Lego Hindenburg: Scaled down model sports some impressive details

B.Sameer Kumar:

It is interesting how black and white images played over and over again can leave an impression on your mind that is ever-lasting. Maybe it is the influence television has on young minds. Maybe it is the impact of the image that you have just witnessed. But very few images of disasters have left bigger impression in our own minds than the flaming giant Zeppelin that rapidly fell to the ground. Even though we really did not know what it was, as young kids, it was an image we came across quite a few times and the ‘Hindenburg’ disaster has left quite a few distinct impressions in human history.

Evotek SYM 026 Formula 1 Simulator set to sizzle crowds in Orlando

B.Sameer Kumar:

Anything that is associated with Formula 1 racing and endorsed by Ferrari is good enough for us. We are a bit like “Luigi’ in the movie cars and are a bit crazy about the prancing horses of ‘Scuderia Ferrari’. So, when Ferrari calls up Evotek and asks them to set up a simulator at their racing headquarters so that their guests can be entertained, that is pretty much the best certification that F1 simulator can get on the planet. Of course, Evotek has done everything it can to ensure that the SYM 026 turns out to be the very best F1 simulator on the planet with its unique software, attention to detail and motors that provide a realistic motion.

Protective Parents: A baby stroller that ‘handles’ things a bit differently!

B.Sameer Kumar:

If you always wondered what being ‘over-protective’ is, then here is a picture that shouts out a thousand words. This mod of a baby stroller comes from Robbie Cooper, whose wife is two weeks away from giving birth to the couple’s first child. Being a protective parent from Texas, Robbie decided to take care of the protection issues in the traditional fashion by hooking up a couple of guns to the stroller instead of the handle bars. Not a bad addition, we might say and while this might be worth a good chuckle, it also reflects in a sense the way we are relaying on a perpetual arms race to keep ourselves safe.

Sweating it out: Exercise bike controller for Mario Kart

B.Sameer Kumar:

While we all know that ‘opposable thumbs’ is what makes primates so very different from all other animals, but gaming has often taken that to a whole new level with the thumbs numbing out at times. The idea of all those Xbox Kinect and Playstation Move games is to get you out of your couch and give a bit of exercise to a lot more than just your thumbs. But, Brent Smith of Canada decided to add a bit of workout to his Super Nintendo console by using an old exercise bike as a controller for Mario Kart.
