We are rapidly heading towards a world where small is indeed the ‘in thing’ and people want gadgets that can multitask and would want their one ‘magic’ device to do almost everything and anything possible. Integrating broad functionality with sleek form, while preserving performance and speed is the new challenge that gadget makers face. The concept of an ‘Ultrabook’ is in itself comparatively novel and to integrate it with the feel of a tablet is the top firms are trying to achieve. Slider ultrabooks might be the next big rage if manufacturers can get their dimensions right. So, why not take a look at what we have been promised so far?

China develops Terminal Sensing Ammunition that will sense and annihilate targets
While this might not sound like much of an accomplishment to the Western powers who have already developed weapons of such capability, the Chinese are pretty upbeat about the weapon added to their arsenal. The press release from the Ministry of National Defense exudes the sense of accomplishment as it states how its new weapon seeks out targets, senses them and then destroys them with multiple sub-projectiles. Terminal Sensing Ammunition (TSA) is especially effective against armored tanks and other heavily protected targets on ground as it can approach them, blow the armor apart with an initial explosion and then wipe out targets with a series of sub-projectiles.
Ping Pong table that tilts, moves and blinds you with super bright lights
Don’t worry too much, the blinding part is only temporary and while you will be able to see just fine within a few seconds, you will no doubt end up on the wrong side of that crucial set point or match point. Created by SyynLabs and on display at Mindshare LA, the table will most likely challenge even the very best in the business and the design of this pneumatically actuated table is such that it gives advantage to the lesser skilled played at times, to even out the game. You can push the buttons or use a remote attached to tilt the table at an angle of your choice and both players can try and outfox opponents with varied angles.
The Speakers: Voice box inspired by Tony Smith’s Die
With modern art, most often what you make out of the art work seems to depend on your interpretation. Some like it and others despise it as they feel that art must “stand by itself and should not depend on the audience”. But we are not here to examine the both those schools of thought. We would much rather focus on the creation that has interested us with both its form and function. The Voice Box is the work of Chris Purdie, who drew his inspiration from the ‘Die’ of Tony Smith. Many experts believe that the ‘Die’ was a creation that affected all of Tony Smith’s work that followed till his very last work of art.

Most of them are cases that are specifically targeted at certain section of the iPhone buyers like ‘Star Wars’ fans or those who love ‘bling’. Some are fancy, others odd and many are limited to a very narrow niche. Steampunk Lego dino: Spinning a story of its own
This does look like it is bordering on the line between the Zoids and the Lego, but that might not really bother anyone. This amazing Lego Steam-Dino is a creation of Mark Stafford and it comes with a battle story that will let you immerse yourself in the alternate world. The dino though is more than capable of holding its own in a battle and the best part of the Lego creation is that it is not just a still model. It can actually walk and seems pretty impressive when it does so.
Project attempts to turn toilet waste into drinkable water and rocket fuel!
And the highlight of this latest venture at Manchester University is not just that. It actually is backed by Bill Gates and his foundation which has already donated $100,000 to the project and promised a million if it showed some actual results in the next year or so. Dr. Sarah Haigh is working along with researchers at Imperial College London and Durham University in an attempt to create an affordable technology that will turn all the toilet waste into useful energy along with some drinking water. We already talked about robots that are powered by human waste and maybe this is the start of the future where we get our drinking water from sewage treatment plants!
