A new medical breakthrough by British scientists in collaboration with German engineers might lead to treatment of patients with severely injured limbs suffering devastating loss of sensation. Computer generated implants have been designed that rewires the nerve themselves that could improve the chances of restoring feelings and movement in damaged legs and arms, also those which have been dislocated.

Students design solar powered clothes to charge your gadgets

Although solar paneled clothes and apparels for charging has been developed before, but designers at CSU (Colorado State University) are developing solar powered clothing from natural fibers by which GPS units, tablets and phones could be charged. Professor at the CSU’s Department of Design and Merchandising, Eulanda Sanders and an associate professor Ajoy Sarkar (Indian origin), with a group of their four students are making prototypes for charging clothes that can be worn while skiing, snowboarding, biking or hiking.

Enthusiast creates flight simulator out of a Boeing 737

Dreaming is not bad but to transform one’s dream into reality is a great achievement. This is what can be seen from an enthusiast in Pleasanton, California. James Price, 52 has built his own DIY flight simulator out of a nose of a Lufthansa Boeing 737-100. Price is a private pilot and works at Oakland Air Traffic Control Center as an air traffic controller. He began dreaming of building his own flight simulator 20 years ago when he joined an online group of people who build fake cockpits at home or use computer flight simulator programs.

Oakley’s AR glasses for athletes gives Google Googles a run for its money

Although Google has grabbed our attention with its google glasses prototype but there is another contender which is fast catching up with Google to compete in the Augmented Reality glasses segment. Oakley Inc. revealed that it too had been working with the Augmented Reality glasses for the past 15 years and has 600 patents. In an interview with Bloomberg, Oakley CEO Colin Baden said, “As an organization, we’ve been chasing this beast since 1997”.

Famous French designer Philipe Starck created a hum over the internet last week announcing that he is working on a “revolutionary” new project with Apple that will launch in the next eight months, but Apple denied of any alliance though. This project is being worked with Palo Alto-based consumer Electronics Company. It is a personal project especially designed for Steve Jobs family and isn’t a next generation product from Apple.

A brilliant Mackbook hack that resulted into MessagePad

BrainDeadLock Labs came out with a very interesting hack, which resulted in a fully functional tablet made from a Macbook. The “MessagePad” project was inspired by other projects such as DIY MacBook Tablet and iTab, where tablet projects on the laptops were all the fury before the tablet and iPhone/iPad boom. The project’s name is pulled from Newton MessagePad, as Apple hasn’t released any handheld based system since then.
