Custom Chrome Mechagodzilla Lamp with Assault Rifles: Get in My House

Check out this amazingly awesome custom Mechagodzilla lamp complete with assault rifles. He reminds you to turn your light off when you leave the room. Or else.

godzilla lamp

This badass lamp gives Mechagodzilla wings, twin G36C rifles and a whole lot of attitude. The wings come from an old toy that Obvious Winner found at a local comic book shop for a $1. They were promptly snapped off and surgically attached to Mechagodzilla using a drill and epoxy.

After that it was time to arm this beast with some weaponry. The choice? 1:6 scale G36 assault rifles that are nicely detailed. You can even fold the stock and remove the magazine and the bullets inside. Those are some nice guns. I wish I had a lamp this cool myself. Great job. I hope we see a Mothra lamp next.

Child’s Play Fundraising Effort To Change Mass Effect 3 Ending Shut Down

Penny Arcade and Child’s Play founders Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik are probably used to influencing the industry via their webcomic, not have it done for them through their charity. “Retake Mass Effect”, a fan effort to have the ending of the game changed has been using Child’s Play donations as a means of drawing attention to their cause. Suffices to say, there were problems.

EVE Online Developer Details Vampire MMO World of Darkness

More details have emerged about CCP’s vampire-themed MMO, World of Darkness, chief among them the revelation that the game is far from cancelled, despite rumors suggesting otherwise. Following CCP’s merger with White Wolf, the new property will apparently be taking a lot of its cues from Vampire: The Masquerade, which instantly propels it to the top of my list of games to watch.

NAO Robots Programmed to Collaborate: Next Up, Forming a Giant Super NAO Robot

If robots and humans are to work together, we need to destroy all copies of The Matrix, The Terminator and other media portraying robotic uprising. That’s the first thing we should do. Only after we have done that should we expand on the experiments being done in the Jouhou System Kougaku (JSK) Lab of the University of Tokyo, which involves teaching robots to work together.

Using Aldebaran Robotics’ NAO humanoid robot as their platform, researchers at the JSK Lab have come up with several ideas to make robots help us and each other. These ideas include a navigation and exploration system that is shared between multiple robots, robots that can learn to work together by trial and error and robots that can reach or avoid moving objects based on their awareness of their own motion relative to another moving object.

There’s also an experiment involving a soft exterior sensor – basically a skin for robots, so they can safely interact with objects and our fragile fleshy bodies. Watch the video to see a few practical examples of these experiments:

Clearly that dude in the throne being carried by the other robots is their leader. He seems like a douche. We’re doomed.
