Levitating Light Saber Fountain Pen Costs More than a Car

We have seen Star Wars pens in the past, but those were nothing compared to this high-end fountain pen. This fancy thing fountain pen that looks like a lightsaber, and it levitates while stored. It is awesome and terrible at the same time.

The only Force at work here is magnetism levitating the pen, which is designed to look like Yoda’s lightsaber. Part of what makes it so special is the 2-carat green topaz used on the tip .Other than the topaz, metals like palladium and rhodium were used in its construction.

Only eight of these were made and they have a price of about $25,000 each. You could buy a nice car for that amount of money. If you are among the well-heeled, you can buy one at wheelersluxurygifts.com.

The only real downside is that it writes in blue ink. Blue pens are the bane of an office workers existence. The only thing worse than having nothing but a blue pen to write with is when you finally need that cheap red pen you were given six months ago and it’s dry and you have to ask for another from the office supply Nazi. The Nazi is always like, “What happened to that red pen I gave you!?” I’m all like “Well it doesn’t write, which is sort of a requirement for a pen. I mean it was a quarter for ten and wasn’t even a Bic, not exactly a finely honed instrument. It’s not like I am embezzling pens or just writing everything in red all willy nilly. I mean are red pens hard to come by? Is there some sort of red pen world shortage I need to be concerned about? Do I need to start a GoFundMe page to save red pens from extinction?” You finally get the new red pen, get back to your desk, and it doesn’t write. But I digress.

You can get this blue pen over at ThinkGeek for $19.99(USD).

Pen – Fluff = Uno

uno_pen_1

If this pen was any more minimal, it would just be a refill. The Pen Uno is being touted as the most minimal pen out there. Machined out of aircraft grade aluminum, the Pen Uno comes anodized in four colors (pretty much like the iPhone). The design language match with Apple is beyond uncanny. My guess is that if you have an iPhone in your pocket right now, and you’re looking for a pen that matches it in every way, the Pen Uno couldn’t be more suitable for you.

The Pen Uno is built from roughly four parts, which seems appropriate for any pen, but the way they bind themselves together makes it look almost unibody. The cap twists and slides up and down, revealing the pen nib whenever necessary. The pen should feel heavier than your tacky plastic pens, but way lighter than the uber-expensive metal body pens. The anodized aluminum, without any argument, feels great to hold, and provides a premium writing experience; because hey, the Pen is sure as hell classier than the Sword!

Never remember another password

The pen’s mightier than the sword, but guess what’s mightier than the pen… A pen with technologically awesome capabilities! The Veri-Pen hides some serious gadgetry under its simple cover. It sports a fingerprint sensor and a pretty neat hand-writing identification algorithm. This two-step verification can be used to strengthen the security of your online presence as well as provide genuine certification in an offline face to face scenario. The pen acts first on the fingerprint, and once that’s a match, the pen works. Use it to make a signature and that data is literally the last password you’ll ever need!

The Veri-Pen works as a regular pen as well as a stylus! Check out a preliminary demo of the pen prototype in action!

Precision Machined for Your Pocket

ptb_01

4 years in the making, Pen Type-B is built to last generations! It’s not a space pen or a tactical pen or even feature-rich. It doesn’t even have a clip or a grippy surface. It’s simply the essentials! Precision machined out of solid metal, the body of the pen is made out of stainless steel and the sleeve out of polished brass. A tiny radial pattern of holes near the pen cylinder tip allows for just the right amount of air to flow into the pen to equalize the air pressure on the ink cartridge as you pull the pen out of its sleeve. The ultra-high machining tolerances between the pen and sleeve create a piston-like effect. The pen falls slowly into its sleeve and even makes a pleasant popping sound when you pull it out quickly. Better yet, its brass is purposefully unfinished so it picks up your unique patina over time!

A pen for the stroke of a genius

turing_pen_1

Alan Turing was a brilliant man. He designed a machine that could generate, assimilate, and discard a million combinations of alphanumeric data in a second. This became the modern day computer. The Turing pen was designed as an exercise to pay a fitting tribute to the man who loved secrets, puzzles, and combinations.

The Turing pen is modeled to be an ergonomic abstraction of the quill. The pen, much like Alan Turing’s computational device, plays on combinations. The pen has interchangeable heads, allowing it to be a fountain pen, a calligraphy pen, a scalpel, and a paper quiller. I especially like the machined metal prototype!

Deal: Save 30% on the AluPen Digital Stylus

If you prefer to draw or write on the screen of your tablet with a stylus instead of a fingertip, then you’ll definitely want to check out the AluPen.

alupen_1zoom in

This sturdy aluminum stylus has a precision tip and works with the vast majority of capacitive touch screens, including iPads and iPhones. No setup or software installation is needed. Just twist to expose the stylus’ fine point nib, and start drawing. A special circuit inside the battery-powered stylus sends a charge to the tip simulating the capacitance your fingertip normally produces.

The AluPen normally sells for $50, but we’ve got it in the Technabob Shop for just $30 for a limited time.

3Doodler 2.0 3D Printing Pen Lets You Create Drawings in the Air

We have been talking about the 3Doodler pen since it first turned up on Kickstarter several years ago. This is sort of a mash up between a 3D printer and a hot glue gun. What it allows you to do is draw anything you can think of in full 3D rather than on flat paper. If you liked the idea of that 3Doodler pen, but haven’t laid hands on one just yet now is your chance.

3doodler-2zoom in

The 3Doodler 3D Printing Pen 2.0 has landed at our favorite purveyor of all things geeky, ThinkGeek. The 3Doodler will set you back $99.99(USD) for a starter kit that includes the pen and filaments to draw with. The pen includes a two temp heater for ABS or PLA filament types, and you can pick up a set of different nozzles in varying shapes and sizes for another $20.

3doodler-4zoom in

Once you run out of filaments to play with you can order more starting at $9.99 per set. This is one of the coolest artsy products out there and would be a great thing for kids to do this summer while school is out.
