I’m not paying CBS to watch ‘Star Trek’ online
New Star Trek Series Coming to CBS in 2017, Subscribers Only
It’s been a while since we had a Star Trek TV series that was in current production. Sure you can find episodes of past series out there, none of which have caught my attention since Star Trek: The Next Generation. I hope that changes in January 2017 when a new Trek series is coming to CBS.
All we know right now is that the series will introduce new characters and explore contemporary themes. Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote the two recent J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies, will be executive producer.
The series will have a special preview broadcast on the normal CBS network. After that, the premiere episode and all first-run episodes will be offered exclusively in the U.S. on CBS All Access, the subscription digital on-demand and streaming service CBS offers.
CBS All Access costs $5.99 monthly. Those outside the U.S. will be glad to hear that it will be distributed concurrently for multiple (as yet unspecified) platforms around the world.
