HEY YOU GUYS!: Sloth and Chunk Action Figures Hit Preorder

The Goonies was a classic ’80s flick for kids of that generation who wanted to find pirate treasure and hang out with cheerleaders. Two of the most memorable characters in the film were Sloth and Chunk. You can now get some sweet action figures of them both courtesy of NECA.

Both are fully posable, so you can even make Chunk do the truffle shuffle. The action figures are dressed up in fabric clothing, and Sloth measures 8-inches tall with a pirate hat and knife. Chunk is over 5-inches tall and has a pirate hat and a statue of David with a broken Johnson.

The two figures are sold together in a two pack for $64.99, and Entertainment Earth expects them to start shipping this September.

‘Overwatch’ action figures and Monopoly are coming this spring

Hasbro is about to give you many, many ways to flaunt your Overwatch fandom beyond the occasional Nerf gun. It's launching a series of toys and games themed around the character-driven shooter, including Monopoly Overwatch Collector's Edition. The $5...

Dread Pirate Roberts Action Figure Will Most Likely Kill Your Wallet in the Morning

Of all the flicks that I remember from growing up in the 1980s, one of the best was The Princess Bride. I’ll admit to not wanting to watch it in my youth because it sounded like a “girl movie” to my younger self. Once I watched it, it was fantastic – with giants, sword fights, and matches of wits.

Fans of The Princess Bride will love this premium action figure of Westley as The Dread Pirate Roberts. Standing 12.25″ tall, the sixth-scale figure looks just like Cary Elwes. It comes with two heads: one shows Westley’s face, the other is Westley wearing the Dread Pirate Roberts’ mask.

The figure has that bitchin’, but sort of pubey, mustache from the films and comes complete with his black pirate costume, sword, and wine goblet. It comes with seven different gloved hands, and two bare hands allow for ambidextrous sword fights. ThinkGeek will sell you one, as you wish, for $199.99.

Astromech Action Figures are Packed in an R2-D2 Box Full of Awesome

Growing up, my favorite Star Wars characters were Luke Skywalker and R2-D2. In addition to being incredibly versatile, R2 seemed to have more to say with all his beeps and boops than the other characters that had actual words to say. Fans of R2-D2 and his astromech droid pals will want to check out this sweet Star Wars The Black Series Astromech Droids action figure boxed set.

The set includes six droids from different Star Wars films and shows. The each measure 3-3/4″ tall, and they come packed in a 16-inch tall R2-D2-shaped box.

The droid action figures include Jabba’s bartender droid, R7-F5, QT-KT, R7-D4, R2-C2, each from The Clone Wars, and R2-A5, another white and green robot that was in the original 1977 film. Both Jabba’s bartender and R2-C2 include a tiny set of drink glasses and a drink dispenser.

Best of all, this Entertainment Earth exclusive set can be had for just $25.99 in mint condition. That’s a 68% savings off the original price.

“The Predator” Minimates Revealed: Get to the Shoppa Cart!

The lucky gang over at Comicbook.com have been given a glimpse at some new cool toys that are a tie-in with the upcoming new flick The Predator.

These Minimates come from Diamond Select Toys and you don’t get to buy them individually. You get them as a boxed set of four. Each one measures 2″ tall and has up to 14 points of articulation. The figures include characters, Quinn McKenna, Rory McKenna, and the Fugitive Predator himself.  One of them is based on Ms. Hotness herself, Olivia Munn, who plays Casey Bracket in the film.

I love that Shane Black is directing this, not only because all Shanes are awesome, but because he wrote Lethal Weapon, and had a bit part in the original Predator back in the day. The film arrives September 14. There is no word on when the toys will land other than sometime this Winter. The set will sell for $24.99, and can be pre-ordered here.

Artist Creates Disturbing Superhero Figures Out of Insect and Crab Shells

Some people play with action figures. Other people play with bugs. Ew! This guy plays with both. Double ew! This student in Osaka, Japan known as @ride_hero on Twitter has a very interesting hobby. He makes action figures out of insect and crab shells.

We know this because he posted several photos of his disturbing creations. They may be disturbing, but I have to admit, they are also very cool and he is very talented. It begs the question, why does he have so many insect and crab shells laying around? And once you ask that, it becomes even creepier. He may be an insect serial killer. We just don’t know. Don’t want to know.

These truly are heroes in a half shell. One of his favorite shells appears to be that of the cicada, which make me feel all icky and gross. I have to be honest, there’s no way I could touch these, never mind putting them on my shelf.

Maybe he’ll make a Spawn out of prawn one day. I think that should be his next creepy masterpiece. This guy does really great work. Just keep them away from me is all I’m saying.

Nendoroid More: Robobot Armor & Kirby: Mimech

Good Smile Company’s latest Nendoroid action figure features the standard form of the Robobot Armor from the 3DS Game Kirby: Planet Robobot.

The Mecha Knight buster comes in a bundle that includes a Kirby Nendoroid and his helmet from the game. But it’s also available as a standalone purchase for those who already bought the Nendoroid Kirby action figure. If you’re one of the former, don’t worry – the standalone variant also comes with the helmet.

I think this is one of the rare instances where the Nendoroid is more detailed than its source material. You can pre-order both the bundle and the standalone unit from BigBadToyStore for $80 (USD) and $60 respectively.

The hero of the awesome action RPG Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII is here to remind Cloud Strife action figures that they’re not as original as they think.

The Zack Fair action figure stands about 11″ tall and comes with the Buster Sword that he eventually handed down to his traumatized sidekick. The sword can be mounted on the figure’s back or held in some of the six included hands.
