This LEGO Cactus Is a Thorny Proposition

Most of the LEGO builds we see around here are buildings, creatures, robots, or maybe vehicles. What’s particularly rare are LEGO creations designed to look like plants. Even more exotic is a LEGO cactus.

This awesome custom LEGO build was created by Brother Steven, and it looks just like a desert cactus, complete with a flowering top, and lots of nasty thorns to keep any LEGO herbivores away. Steven built the plastic succulent as an entry in the ABS Builder Challenge, and included a friendly message along with his entry:“A gift to my competition. Handle with care.”

A Cactus for Your Cats: Catctus?

Cats are a weird bunch. They’re simultaneously the cutest and most infuriating house pets I’ve ever had. When my last cat wasn’t annoying me by meowing incessantly and trying to claw my eyeballs out at 3am, he was a complete snuggle monster and a joy. One of the more endearing things that cats do is climb stuff. That said, kitties should love this.

The 5-foot-tall Cozy Cactus Cat Tree provides six carpet-covered branches for kitties to perch their butts upon. Unlike a real cactus, you won’t be plucking thorns out of your cats’ asses with this one.

It looks pretty awesome, but even on sale, this thing is going for over $800. So you’ve got to really love your cats if you’re going to buy one for your house. Maybe a real cactus isn’t such a bad idea after all.

Behold The Cactus

The Cactus is a hybrid kinda appliance, one that moves from a freezer to a refrigerator to a food warmer. Consider it as a food storage box that keeps your eatables either warm or cold, depending upon the requirement. Designed for use in nuclear households, the appliance goes against the typical principle of conducting heat from the outside to cool the inners of a fridge.

As a heat box, the temperature is maintained at 55 degrees C, which is ideal for thermal insulated for food. The frozen foods section accommodates up to three pizza boxes and the beverage compartment has been designed keeping standard bottles and cans in mind.

The Cactus scores a full ten on the design department. It’s very kawaii in looks and everything inside it has been designed keeping food specifics and usage in mind.

Canapé Cactus Couch & Ottoman: Is It Getting Prickly in Here?

While they might have different upholstery, most sofas and couches look pretty similar. From time to time, though, you come across something very different. This cactus couch is definitely unusual, because cacti usually don’t make good sitting places.

The Canapé Cactus Couch was part of the Isn’t It Romantic exhibition at MAKK in Köln, Germany. The Paris-based Italian designer Maurizio Galante made up a variety of prickly-printed sofas, couches, and ottomans. But rather than using actual cacti, these succulents are printed on “bio-elastic” fabric.

The exhibition runs until April 21, 2013. If he ever ends up selling them, I’m betting they’d be much more comfortable than actual cacti.
