Coca-Cola PC Casemod: Have a CPU and a Smile

We used to feature lots of awesome PC casemods here on Technabob, but the rise of laptops and mobile devices has all but killed the desktop PC except for high-end gaming and professional workstations. So with that, the number and frequency of cool mods has decreased dramatically. But here’s one recent casemod I really thought was worth sharing.

Built as a collaboration between PC maker MAINGEAR and tooth decay maker Coca-Cola, this amazing custom PC build is loaded with the latest and greatest tech, and also looks amazing.

The PC features Coke’s iconic red and white color scheme, and a slick liquid cooling system that incorporates an actual glass Coca-Cola bottle. They even managed to figure out a way to make the cooling liquid look like Coke, complete with fizzy bubbles inside. They even went so far as to use the actual mix of dyes that Coke uses in their soda for authenticity. There’s also a slight green tinge to the side glass, which matches the “Georgia Green” that Coke bottles are made from.

The gaming PC is based on the MAINGEAR Rush, running an Intel 6950x CPU and HyperX memory. However, it’s been highly customized for this build. One of the highlights of the system is the dual GTX 1080 graphics card stack that they managed to mount at a 90º angle relative to the motherboard, and the visible liquid cooling that flows through see-through plumbing and into a cooling reservoir on top of the card.

It’s a really beautiful build, though I really wish it had a Coke dispenser built in. Actually, I prefer Diet Coke.

Make a Minigun from Coca-Cola Cans and Syringes

If you have some Coca-Cola cans, some lighters, and a few spare syringes just lying around, you can use them to make your own minigun. The question is, should you? Yes. Yes you should. Unless you hurt yourself, in which case, I do not endorse this idea at all.

The Q Channel shows you how to make a rad minigun with a really cool design. It isn’t very hard to make. Watch the video, make it and have fun with your new homemade weapon. Just don’t blow yourself up with all those lighters and rubbing alcohol.

It isn’t the most ergonomic gun ever and it isn’t super powerful, but it looks super fun to make and shoot.

Coca-Cola Selfie Bottle: Have a Coke and a Smile

Can’t get enough selfies? Take one while you drink a refreshing soda. The Coca-Cola Selfie Bottle is not really a bottle, but a camera that attaches to the bottom of any half-liter Coca-Cola bottle. It will take a photo whenever you tilt the bottle past 70-degrees. Now we have officially seen every possible selfie accessory. Or have we? Probably not. Sighs. At least it reduces the chance of duck lips.

How many photos do you need of yourself? How many do you need of yourself drinking a Coke? I have no idea. I’m sad that this accessory even exists.

Thanks Coke. Thanks for depressing me and reminding me that humanity is doomed. So lets all have a Coke and snap a celebratory selfie.

What if Coca-Cola made a phone?

cocacola_phone_1

Remember the Nescafe hairdryer post from yesterday? Today we delve further into visual semantics and ask “What if Coca Cola made a phone?” The Coca Cola smartphone by Junguk Shin brilliantly articulates that absurd possibility. The back of the phone has subtle curves that you see on the iconic bottle’s waist. The cherry on the cake however, is the home button (could also be a fingerprint scanner). It resembles the iconic glass bottle cap design that one associates with soft drinks. The design of that very element speaks volumes, connecting Coca Cola to the smartphone design in an unabashed and beautiful way!
