The Cooler Master Sneaker X PC case is now a fully-fledged gaming rig

Cooler Master is getting extra creative with its case designs lately, and it’s all thanks to mods. Back in February 2022, we reported on a Cooler Master case shaped like a giant shoe that was initially invented by a modder named JMDF during Cooler Master’s 2020 Case Mod World Series competition. At some point along the way, Cooler Master decided to lean fully into the sneaker aesthetic – and now we have Sneaker X, a fully-fledged Mini-ITX gaming desktop that represents the inevitable logical endpoint of designing computers to look like footwear.

Designer: JMDF and Steve Chiang (via Cooler Master)

Cooler Master’s design ethos is made clear in its official Sneaker X video, where it’s shown just how intricate this truly ridiculous-looking desktop needs to be in order to function. The interior is packed with components that look difficult to keep cool given how little airflow is allowed to exist between them. However, an exposed side-vent plus the open roof of the chassis (which unfortunately doesn’t provide enough room for an actual human foot) both likely help heat rise out of the computer’s internal components. There’s also a complex-looking integrated AIO water cooling system connected to a single RGB intake fan on the right side of the case. Yes, you read that correctly: there’s only one visible case fan in the entire build.

The Sneaker X comes in two models, with a few shared technical specifications between them. Every Sneaker X ships with a custom Z790 ITX mobo containing 32 gigs of DDR5 RAM (which, according to an Amazon listing, runs at a base clock of 5600Mhz), a 2TB PCEe 4.0 NVME storage drive, an Intel Core i7-13700K CPU, and the proprietary Master Liquid PL360 Flux “Sneaker Edition” cooling system, all powered by a Cooler Master V850 SFX Gold PSU.

That all sounds great on paper, but for a base price of $3499, the Sneaker X is probably not every PC gamer’s first choice. The base model includes a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 with 12GB of VRAM, whereas the $3799 edition bumps that GeForce RTX 4070 up to a far more powerful GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. You can now buy either PC from Cooler Master’s website to make your sneaker collection a little more high-tech.

Cooler Master Orb X Immersive PC Gaming Pod Looks Straight out of TRON

Designed and built by computer hardware manufacturer Cooler Master, the Orb X is an immersive gaming pod designed with luxury and comfort in mind. It kind of reminds me of Darth Vader’s meditation chamber, but with less wondering what the heck he does in there for hours at a time.

The Orb X can accommodate up to three 27″ monitors for maximum peripheral viewing and includes built-in power, audio, and lighting systems, as well as a traditional desk surface. It features a premium leather “ergonomic recliner” with fully adjustable head and lumbar support. But does it have seat cooling capabilities? Because I get sweaty when I’m gaming.

The pod’s dome lowers over the user’s head once they’re in place, so you know that they mean business. If the dome is down, do not disturb — that’s going to be my motto. And the dome is never not going to be down, just to be clear. I’m going to live in this thing; all it needs now is a mini-fridge and microwave.

Cooler Master has killed it with the ORB X immersive pod that cocoons you for hours of uninterrupted work or play

The furniture industry is head over heels for designing the most comfortable workstations and rigs to make sure the home-based workforce is left with nothing but to focus on their routine. With life returning to normal after three rough years of the pandemic, seclusion and privacy are going to be two concerns each of us would want employers to address. In that scenario, a semi-enclosed cockpit with just about everything one would need for hours of uninterrupted work or play is just a dream!

Enter ORB X, designed by the gaming hardware manufacturer Cooler Master, it is meant to enhance user’s experience while working or gaming. Talk about guaranteed privacy; the ORB X has an automated motorized shuttle that cocoons the users within for utmost secrecy.

Designer: Cooler Master

The motorized dome lowers from the top to bring the screens to the user’s eye level. The ORB X accommodates multiscreen: When you’re working you can use a single 34-inch display or transition into a gaming-specific with the use of a trio of 27-inch screens.

If you have a setup with an ultrawide monitor on the desk and your game time is well covered, you probably haven’t experienced a pod before. It is a stark difference we are talking about here, especially with a semi-personal cocoon approach that doesn’t completely isolate you but creates a personal zone to call your own, yet provides an incomparable environment.

The surround sound speakers and an ergonomic recliner with multiple features enhance this immersive environment. The seating comfort for gamers and professionals manifolds sitting in the recliner is made from genuine leather with lumber support, leg rest and an adjustable headrest.

For those who don’t like it cluttered, the ORB X comes with a built-in hidden compartment to store your PC and game console. Accommodating your keyboard and mouse is a desk with built-in wireless charging and USB-C, and USB-A ports. The entire setup within the Arctic White or Universe Black ORB X is illuminated with RGB lighting. It is currently available for preorder but Cooler Master has not revealed a release date or pricing yet.

This custom Street Bob crafted from forged carbon fiber rolled straight out of a Metaverse world

Cooler Master is better known for its jaw-dropping PC cases and peripherals but a motorbike link seemed unlikely until now.

A customized Street Bob from the Harley Davidson camp comes as no surprise, but one that’s modernized for a sci-fi look is rare. Fusing the cool lighting of a Cooler Master case and the freedom of a 2020 Harley-Davidson Street Bob getting dapper customization is the highlight of this edgy cruiser bike.

Designer: Rough Crafts

Taiwan-based Rough Crafts is the team behind this build specially crafted to celebrate Cooler Master’s 30th anniversary. The red cherry on the top is a matching computer case. To mark the occasion, the custom shop chose forged carbon fiber for the meticulous texture of the bike. The aluminum fins on the fuel tank and the rear section add contrast to the hyper-realistic creation. According to Winston Yeh of Rough Crafts, the idea was “to combine the signature elements of both worlds.”

Attention to detail is undeniable as Winston leveraged 3D printing to digitally design the fairing tank and tail from a high-end polymer material. Wrapping the carbon fiber parts with eye-popping marble texture on the bike parts is something to behold here. Rough Crafts leveraged the expertise of his trusted collaborators like MS Pro and CT-Garage to handle the fabrication and final assembly respectively.

Meaning, the Cooler Master’s identifiable purple lighting setup (nod to the PC heat sink) and the sharp looks of their geeky computer cases, fused with the fin details of the custom shop’s builds and use of lots of forged carbon fiber. The LED projector headlights, taillights, and turn signal lights all come courtesy Koso.

Chassis upgrades include the Öhlins forks connected to the custom yokes and Öhlins shock mated to The Speed Merchant swingarm. The in-house handlebars and finned air filter along with the switches from Rebuffini directly integrate with the Street Bob’s CAN bus system for plug-and-play functionality. To put it precisely, a balanced mix of cool and cliched aesthetics with riding superiority to boast.
