This Christmas, buy yourself some Survival Instinct. No, that isn’t some many fragrance. I’m talking about the Jackfish Survival Kit. It doubles up as a credit card holder but that isn’t really the greatest thing about this bad boy. I never thought I’d say this, but this is a little ghost that eats up your spare thumbtacks. Sounds weird right? Until you see the product, it won’t make any sense, but once you do, you won’t stop admiring the simplicity and beauty of this design.

Little Ghost is a magnetic cup that attracts spare thumbtacks, safety pins, paper clips into its cavity. Having these small things strewn around your desk can be quite a nuisance. Not just visually, but also you’re never going to find one when you need it. That’s where your friendly little ghost comes in to be an absolute pal. Just run it over all the spare tacks and clips you have lying around. Everything gets magnetically sucked in and stays there. Just tip the ghost over and pull out a tack when you need it. It ain’t rocket science. Just sensible design!

CKIE Product of the Week – Pipe Tube + Cup Holder

Two hands, one bike (or buggy, or wheelchair, or stroller) and loads of things to carry, including a sippy cup and soda can! How will you manage it all? With the Pipe Tube + Cup Holder of course! This simple contraption makes it possible for you to keep your hands free for the ride while holding your drink securely. Simply fix it to the handlebar and get going!

Details:

  • Pipe Tube – This is the main unit used to attach to the pole. It supports a wide range of poles with a thickness measuring from 20 to 40mm in diameter.
  • Cup Holder – This can support a wide range of containers with a diameter ranging from 40mm to 75mm. A cup, milk/water bottle or any drink container can be placed within the Pipe cup holder.
  • This Pipe Series has been awarded the famous Red Dot Award 2014 for Honourable Mention. And iF design award 2015 winner.

Must Have: The Penxo Pencil

To prove it’s point at being the best ever minimalist lead holder pencil, the Penxo has gone ahead and bagged the Red Dot Awards – Best of Best for 2015. Accolades and awards aside, this pencil is a must have for those as obsessed with stationery as I am. Designed to perfection and with impeccable attention to detail, in many ways it syncs with the Apple design philosophy and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jony Ive gets himself one!

Backed by his passion for designing, designer Brian Tong TAK always found himself circling back to his trusty pencils as his choice of tool. Asking himself hard questions like what he could do to “eliminate all the finicky mechanical bits” in a mechanical lead pencil, the answer came in the form of the Penxo.

Driven by simplicity, the pencil is also the features a last lead release mechanism. According to Brian, he spent “countless hours designing and refining the Penxo, hoping to inject some modernity while remaining true to its traditional form.”

Features:

  • Penxo is a minimalist 2mm lead holder pencil precisely milled from a single block of aluminum.
  • The simplistic design eliminates the springs, buttons, and mechanical parts found in conventional mechanical pencils.
  • The center gap functions as a lead trigger release and indicator window for lead color, markings and usage.
  • The forward cutting gap on the pencil tip creates a pivot tension at the opposite end – this counter balance creates a clamp-like effect, which secures the lead.
  • The design offers the fastest lead release compared to any other lead pencil.

For years shampoos and conditioners have been bringing the bounce back into your hair. It’s time to give the shampoo bottles some bounce too! The bungee Bath shampoo holder is an ingenious little product that holds on to your shampoo bottles, making your bath-time a little more productive and a lot more entertaining!

The holding rings are all elastic, so no matter how big or small your shampoo bottle is, you’re covered. The sticking pad is a proprietary invention called Thorpad that makes use of suction and a non-sticky adhesive to firmly secure your Bungee Bath to the bathroom wall. Spot the Nots: Miniature Christmas Candle Holders Bring Something New to the Nativity Scene

The countdown to Christmas continues. We’ve looked at Christmas trees and ornaments and even houses that exuded the holiday vibe in their own little way. But one thing we haven’t covered yet is the nativity scene, which captures the true meaning and essence of Christmas. As a kid, my mom and I would do some crafts and use recycled materials to recreate the scene so we could display it at the foot of our tree. That tradition slowly died out as I grew up, but it’s a tradition that’s waiting to be restarted with the birth of my beautiful niece.

Until then, we’ve had to make do with alternatives that didn’t require as much effort (since all we had to do was buy them), like this exquisitely-made miniature Christmas candle holder set. It’s a different take to the usual scene, and for two very obvious reasons. Can you spot the nots?

The Christmas tree and the festive-looking Santa Claus with his sack full of presents might seem a little bit out of place, but I think it breathes new life into the picture. Each of the holders stands at about 5 inches tall, so they’re small, but I like the fact that they’re actually candle holders so they aren’t just there for display. It’s like knocking two turtle doves with one gigantic gold ring, if you ask me.

Batman Toilet Paper Holder: The Dark Knight Wipes

I am in awe of the sheer genius and laziness of this Batman mod. By giving a large Batman figure a single rod to hold in his hands, Batman is transformed from Guardian of Gotham to Master Presenter of T.P.

Sure, it might have been more appropriate if this were the butler, Alfred, preferably the Michael Caine version that speaks with a British accent, but this is way funnier. It has to be the Dark Knight toilet paper holder. Because Alfred is the hero with the soft stuff your butt deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

This 31″ tall custom dark knight toilet paper holder was made by conrick, who sits on his throne in silence, looking over his creation.
