A fully automatic yet personalized home garden that grows 76 different plants!

If you have the inclination to grow your own greens, then there are many solutions available today. Once you have done your market research, there are a couple of factors that will stand out and help you with the final choice – efficiency of the system, soil or soilless, how often do you have water the plants, the variety you can grow, modularity and of course the cost.

Now imagine an assistant who does all these calculations for your plant needs and all you have to do is follow those instructions every 1-3 weeks. The Verdeat personalized home garden does exactly that! A modular fully automatic gardening system created from environment-friendly materials, the Verdeat is an automatic gardening system that grows up to 76 plants. The seed tray fits in 19 seed pods and is ideal for basil, lettuce, oregano, etc. which have 3-4 weeks growth time. The Microgreen tray fits 4 microgreen pads and has a growth time of 7-10 days that lets you plant watercress, mustard, alfalfa, and the likes. Whereas the pot tray holds 5 standard pots and you can grow your lemons, peppers, cherry tomatoes in there! So all you have to do is choose your plant, pick a tray for it and follow instructions.

Verdeat uses a soilless, organic plant cultivation system and smartly irrigates and provides nutrition to vegetables and herbs. Using the accompanying app, the modular garden is self-sustainable for 1 to 3 weeks, depending on what is growing. It automatically adjusts the water, energy, and nutrients required, without unnecessary wastage.

Being notorious for killing plants easily, I’m keen to see how this system will fare in my home!

The system consists of modular trays with slots to plant the seeds along with a soil-free natural substrate (e.g. coconut fiber). Its unique universality and modularity also allow the growth of regular soil-based pot plants and microgreens.

Environment-friendly

Verdeat is manufactured in EU with 95% recycled materials.

With each purchase, they will plant a tree and give you 3 tree seeds to cultivate in Verdeat and then plant in your neighborhood as a way of giving back to nature. Each unit (size L) is made from plastic waste weighing 10kg / 22lbs.

Mood-boosting Sun-like Light and Better Air Quality

Verdeat creates a near-natural light source that allows you to cultivate anywhere at any time. The plants also act as air purifiers and have a therapeutic effect on your overall wellbeing.

In And Out Projections

Its funny that we pick going outdoors and camping, just to reconnect with nature, and yet we need the comfort of technology to keep us entertained. Designed for both indoors and outdoors, the Dooroo is a projector that is easy to set up and work with. It’s aimed for camping trips, hence the petite size (tripod, a multi beam projector) and ability to adapt to the outdoors.

The Elegant Simplicity Of Growing Plants

Like many, I tend to bury my green-thumb aspirations because I don’t have the time or the expertise to manage houseplants. I was looking for tools that could help people like me grow more than just those good-luck bamboo plants when I found the OPUS GARTEN. Michael Good, the man behind the successful Kickstarter BIGrootcup Campaign is out with this new line of indoor gardening products that promise to make indoor gardening fun and easy. Let’s look at in-depth.

Designer: Micheal Good of good3studio [ Buy it Here ]

I agree with Good that indoor gardening should be a fun process and if we add a dash of aesthetic creation, then I guess we have a winner! With the OPUS GARTEN launch line, Good has brought forth three products; all of which are included in the IndoorGardenKit: The OPUS GARTEN WallPlanter, PottingTray and Handworktoy.

OPUS GARTEN WallPlanter

The WallPlanter is as easy to hang as a picture. It’s held in place with the help of a marine grade cord and die-cast aluminum hardware, which makes for a very clean installation.

  • Plants are potted in an insert that has weeping holes in the bottom, that can help to drain soil, or wick up moisture.
  • The outer housing is completely water proof, WallPlanter won’t drip, sweat or mold.

PottingTray

To keep the entire setup clean, the Potting Tray comes into action. It protects tables and counters when taking on indoor gardening projects.

  • A lip surrounds the durable flexible tray to capture spills.
  • Easy to clean in a sink and it’s dishwasher safe.

Handworktoy

A set of handtools that are inspired by Japanese classics with size and material suitable for indoor use. Included in the the kit are:

  • A versatile hori-hori whichi is a big help with repotting plants, breaking up soil and planting cuttings.
  • Tweezer helps to grab rotten or prickly material; think french manicure!.
  • Soil scoop is the right size to reach into a bag of potting soil and very comfortable to hold. A flattened opening edge prevents the scoop from rolling.

OPUS GARTEN IndoorGardenKit by good3studio is a novel indoor gardening set. It’s the kind I’d use for its simplicity and aesthetic approach. The line is easy on the eye and functional. Get your kit here today.

The Dry Wave

The Wave Dry is an innovative concept that looks at drying clothes faster and in a cost-effective way. It basically is this solar device that can be charged via the windows of the house. The soaked up solar goodness is used to power the drying UV lights and hot air. Although it looks to be a bit bulky for now, I think a couple of refinements down the line, this idea can do some great good!

Google Maps 2.0 for iOS starts rolling out with iPad support, indoor maps (update: offline maps too)

Google Maps 2 for iOS starts rolling out with iPad support, indoor maps

The revamped Google Maps design reached Android last week; now, it's iOS' turn. Google Maps 2.0 is gradually rolling out worldwide for Apple's platform, and it's bringing the Android version's discovery and exploration components as well as some new-to-iOS features. Long-anticipated iPad support is the highlight, although there's also indoor navigation, live traffic updates and incident reports. Maps 2.0 hasn't hit the US just yet, although it should be available shortly.

Update: It looks like it's hit the US App Store as of midnight ET or so, check the link below to grab the update yourself. If you're looking for offline maps, those are available with an Easter Egg like the one first featured in the Android version. Just zoom to the area you'd like to cache, then type "Ok maps" in the search box. [Thanks @carloslarez]

Google brings indoor Maps to Germany, says more Euro expansion is coming fast

Not many would argue that Google's indeed quick to bring its latest and greatest software creations to many folks around the globe. More specifically, the Mountain View-based company announced today that its handy indoor Maps are now available in Germany, giving people there the ability to easily find their way around airports, shopping centers and even museums -- much like those in the UK and US have been able to do for some time now. According to Google, the indoor Maps availability in Germany solidifies its plan to "focus on our users in Europe," where the overall coverage "will be expanded and fast."
