Knitted Claptrap: 96.5% More Yarn Yarn

Greetings, traveler! Self-professed yarn- and knitaholic Morrgan made this adorable knitted replica of one of the funniest videogame characters ever conceived, CL4P-TP aka Claptrap. I’m sure the robot would love to have this toy to keep him company and listen to his endless rambling.

The replica is made of 40 separate pieces and is about 16″ tall, which Morrgan said is “the perfect size for hugs.” Awwww.

The Blanket Chair: Who Needs Snuggies?

There’s something awesome about comfortable chairs, in which you can spend hours reading, working or simply chilling. This concept chair integrates a blanket into an all-in-one comfy package, allowing you to take advantage of its cuddliness.

The Autumn/Winter Chair was created by Polish fashion designer Aga Brzostek. The cover of this chair is like a big jumper, which is one of the reasons why it has sweater-like functions. It’s perfect to use as a cozy place during chilly winter nights. Hard foam was used for the structure of the chair. The seat and backrest were covered in softer foam for even more comfort.The cover is made from reclaimed wool to help keep you warm and toasty.

The cover is adjustable and removable, allowing users to change the look of the chair to their own preferences. It’s even got a handy pocket for holding magazines or books.

While this is still just a one-off concept piece, I suppose you could always ask your grandma to knit a similar cover for your favorite chair, but that could be quite the undertaking.

This handknit beard measures a whopping 28-feet-long, which means you’ll need to wrap it around like a bunch of scarves when you want to walk around.

For some reason, it actually reminds me of some sort of giant snake when it’s lying there on the ground, so I’m not so sure I’d want it around my neck for fear that it would strangle me to death when I least expect it.

3D Printed Knitted Sweater iPhone 5 Case Wins Shapeways Competition

I’m itching like many to have a 3D printer at home so that I can print out stuff like this iPhone 5 case, which won a competition at Shapeways. It was one of five hundred entries, and what’s unique about this case is that looks more like it was knit than 3D printed.

The winning case was designed by ArtizanWork. It comes in four different colors and doesn’t look like an ordinary iPhone case. It looks like a mix of something hand-knit and some chainmail. The edges of the case are sturdy but the space in between is more flexible. It can actually move around a bit when prodded.

What’s really cool is that stitched bits can move separately from each other, creating a tactile feeling that unlike any other case. They also act like mini shock absorbers that protect your phone. The case is available directly from ArtizanWork for $75(USD).

Panzer Tank Knit Slippers Battle Cold Toes

I normally don’t wear slippers on my feet, but if I had a pair of these Panzer Tiger tank slippers, I’d wear them every day. Heck, I’d wear them when I head out of the house  to the grocery store, and to the Starbucks, and to the park, and to the movies… you get my drift.

So the latest season of Doctor Who kicked off last week with a Dalek episode. And if you saw it, you already know that this episode breaths new life into the Daleks and takes them from being a silly overused villain to making them multi-dimensional bad guys. Well, I can’t think of a better time to buy oneself a Dalek hat.

Tiny Knit Superheroes Hit Etsy So Your Dolls Can Pretend to Be Villains

When I think of superheroes, I usually envision large, hulking men or women in tights, capable of taking down the most evil of supervillains. They usually don’t conjure up images of tiny, cuddly knits which are small enough for the cat to swallow.

But the textile artists of Sweden’s Crivens Studio clearly have the latter in their minds. They handmake and sell these miniscule superheroes which measure just about  1″ tall each. Each tiny hero is knit from yarn and the is small enough to let your dolls play with them – assuming you still play with dolls – and your dolls still play with dolls too.

They’re currently available for $25(USD) each in Batman, Superman and Iron Man versions, and if you’re more into zombies than superheroes, there’s a couple of those for sale too.
