NIntendo Mario & Link Costume Hoodies: Comfy Cosplay
The costumes of the Mario Bros. and Link are some of the easiest video game get ups to emulate. But if you’re short on patience or skills, you can do worse than TV Store Online’s officially licensed hoodies. Though I must say that the Mario Bros. hoodies are best suited for babies. Or adults with no abdomens.
The Mario, Luigi and Wario hoodies look exactly like the modern avatars of those characters. The problem is that Mario and company have huge heads but barely have necks, two things that you can’t usually say about humans. The result is that the hoodies have hilariously high overalls. But the cap with logo on the hood is a nice touch.
The Link hoodie on the other hand is more or less properly proportioned, which is surprising because it seems to be based on Wind Waker Link, who like Mario is also super deformed. It also has a pointed hoody and belt, sword and shield stitched on. The downside is, well, the same reason why Hugh Jackman doesn’t wear Wolverine’s classic colors in the movies. You certainly can’t say that these hoodies didn’t stick to their source material.
If you want the height of 90s geekery, get these hoodies from TV Store Online for $50 (USD) each.
Crochet Kirby/Luigi with Death Stare Amigurumi
Hey, look in the rear view. It’s Kirby. No, it’s Luigi. I don’t know which it is, but he’s looking pretty pissed off. He just hit us with a turtle shell and now we are careening off the road to our death and he won’t he stop looking at us like that.
This adorable amigurumi is Kirby dressed up like Luigi, wearing the plumber’s signature death stare from the new Mario Kart 8 game.
Kirby/Luigi comes from Etsy seller PersnicketyPrecision’s Etsy shop and you can get him for just $34.(USD) Just don’t expect him to be happy about your purchase. And watch your back.
Mario And Luigi Transformers: Nintendobots
You may or may not be aware, but in the Transformers Animated universe there were a pair of Cybertronian plumbers that look a whole lot like Mario and Luigi. Back in 2009, character designer Derrick J. Wyatt revealed the pair in a group shot of characters that might have made it into season three. They were a huge hit with fans. Now they exist as actual action figures.
They are known as Huffer and Pipes, which sounds like a pair of stoners, and were based on a pair of G1 Transformers of the same name. The original characters used the same mold painted different colors, but these new robots have a height difference as well as overalls and mustaches. Now I just want more Nintendo Transformers. That would be so much better than some cheap new console.
Custom Transformers toy maker Mech iDeas went ahead and them a reality. Their unofficial versions are called Bluster & Trench, and are available for preorder for $50(USD). I’m definitely getting these guys.

Build Your Own Working Mario Kart Track with K’Nex
It’s Mario Kart in real life! Get busy, really busy, building your own working track with Nintendo Mario Circuit Ultimate Building Set. This set uses 665 K’Nex building blocks to build a giant 5 foot wide track upon which you can really race Mario and Luigi. That’s 22 feet of track if laid out end to end (but why would you do that?) It’s huge:
That’s what she said. The Karts themselves are motorized and battery powered, so they can really zip around the twists, turns, and jumps of the track just like in the Wii game. Watch out for the included obstacles: sliding Piranha Plant, moving chain chom, and swinging Goombas. There are other sets and additional track pieces you can purchase too if you want to go even larger- if 5 feet isn’t quite big enough for you. Fun stuff.

Caption contest: Luigi puts the ‘L’ in Chicago’s public transit system
Has Nintendo of America fallen on hard times? Why else would the company make one of its most beloved characters (or, at the very least, the brother of one of its most beloved characters) take Windy City public transit? Oh, that's right, the gaming giant has decked out the "L" train with ads for its new Super Luigi U title. The mustachioed plumber is riding the Brown Line in this Twitter shot, so be sure to be on the lookout for suspicious looking dinosaurs in the area (if you see something, say something). No word on whether he'll be making house calls today.

Nintendo Japan announces white 32GB Wii U, Wiimote quick charger
An official extended battery for its Wii U Gamepad isn't the only thing Nintendo Japan posted on its website tonight, as it also added a white option for the Wii U 32GB Premium set, a 30th Anniversary Luigi special edition 3DS XL and quick charging option for the Wiimote. Surveys surfaced earlier this year suggesting a fast charging option on the way for the Wiimote, and in Japan gamers will be able to add the accessory -- consisting of replacement battery / backplate and charging stand, pictured after the break -- starting July 13th for 4,200 yen ($41) , and 2,625 yen ($26) for the battery alone. That should allow not only faster charging, but also longer battery life than Wii gamers have been used to.
July 13th is the same day the white Wii U premium will arrive as well, coming at the same price and packing the same accessories as the existing black 32GB console. Finally, Nintendo listed all the details for the special Luigi edition 3DS XL announced recently on Nintendo Direct. Of course, none of these are the games that even Iwata admits the Wii U needs, but a few more choices can't hurt, can they?

Luigi edition Nintendo 3DS LL gives Mario’s brother his due, but only in Japan
There must be some kind of unstated rule that Nintendo can never give the US a special edition handheld without releasing some Japan-focused models. While the company was busy promising Americans an Animal Crossing 3DS XL of their very own, it was also introducing a Luigi edition 3DS LL for its home country as part of its "Year of Luigi" theme -- not fair, Nintendo. The system is decked out in a camouflage-like pattern that pays tribute to Mario's oft-neglected sibling, and it should ship with a preloaded copy of Mario and Luigi: Dream Team just to drive the point home. Local gamers will get the distinctly-patterned 3DS LL on June 18th, but there's no word on an XL equivalent for the US so far. We'll just have to make do with Mario-colored devices instead.
