Hayabusa Watch Concept: How Master Chief Tells Time

The latest TokyoFlash concept watch from UK designer Peter Fletcher is one of his coolest yet. The Hayabusa LED watch features a case inspired by the Spartan armor of the same name from Halo.

The helmet-shaped case has an EL-backlit LCD that looks like the helmet’s visor, while watch is covered in a finish that looks like armor. Though I have to say it looks more like Mjolnir armor to be as it’s not pointy like the Hayabusa armor in the game. Still, it’s totally cool.

What I really love about the design of this watch is that the display is surprisingly easy to read. Twevle dots in the middle indicate hours, while the shapes that flank each side are just distorted digits for the minutes.

While those not in the know will have no clue as to what time it is, you’ll be able to tell time at a glance – hopefully before some Elite tags you with a sticky grenade.

Mew-Mew Mjölnirs: Hammer Time for Cats

We definitely need more cute stuff in superhero movies. Like Thor. Remember when Darcy calls his hammer “Mew-Mew?” Well, Etsy seller TwinsGeekShop has taken the nickname and created some literal Mew-Mew hammers. And they are pretty darn cute.

Of course these fabric hammers look like kitties, kitties that can beat you senseless. That is what they are made for, beating each other up with cuteness. Then throwing them on your couch so you can cuddle with them later.

Unfortunately, if you want some Mew-Mew Mjölnirs you may have to wait a while. The seller is based in Russia, and they’re currently sold out. PLus, shipping to the U.S. takes around 21 days. But it is totally worth it. Beating people with cuteness. Is there anything better?

It’s Hammer Time! Blacksmith Tony Swatton Forges Thor’s Mjölnir

One of the strangest mythological weapons out there in my opinion has always been hammer wielded by Thor. Mjölnir is an interesting weapon in that reminds me a bit of the Excalibur where only one person can ever wield the hammer. Even the Hulk is unable to pick it up.

Blacksmith and armorer Tony Swatton operates a company called Sword and the Stone that makes weapons using methods similar to what they used in the old days. His hit YouTube series Man at Arms has featured a number of awesome weapon builds, and his latest is a replica of  Thor’s hammer similar to the one used in the upcoming film Thor: The Dark World.

The hammer was made out of sheets of chromoly steel and while it’s hollow, still weighs about 20 pounds. The entire process looks like it took a long time to complete and the finished hammer is impressive indeed. The only downside is that the hammer appears to be significantly larger than the one from the film.

Swatton says he plans on putting the hammer on display in his shop – but not before filling the hollow chamber with shot, to bring the weight up to about 200 pounds, so it’ll be impossible for mere mortals to pick it up.

Batman Zing! Whammo! Pows! his way to YouTube’s top superhero spot (video)

DNP Batman beats out every other superhero on YouTube

Bruce Wayne may be on permanent vacation with Selina Kyle, but that hasn't stopped Batman from topping YouTube's list of most popular superheroes. Based on views and amount of content, the Dark Knight is number one, racking up 3 billion pairs of eyes on 71,000 hours of video. That's 213 trillion hours you spent watching the antics of a flying rodent with daddy issues -- or roughly 42,000 views per hour of footage. More surprising than that though, is who came in second place. It wasn't Spider-Man (seventh with 340 million views of 7,400 hours of video) or Tony Stark (fourth with 1.7 billion views of 20,000 hours of video). If you heard thunder, you heard right. Thor has 2.1 billion views and 66,000 hours of video, but only around 32,000 views per hour of tape. What does it all mean? Mjolnir's owner is around 33 percent less popular (views per hour) than Gotham's First Son -- and he's a god. Ouch.

Build your own 80,000 volt Thor hammer, what could possibly go wrong

When someone says "The idea is extremely simple, a tiny tesla coil inside a fake hammer" we look up "simple in the dictionary just to check. This is Hack a day though, where simple can mean almost anything -- in this case a genuine electrified Mjölnir replica. All you need to make your own is the aforementioned tesla coil (you have one right?), some foam, a battery pack and, well... the ability to follow instructions. Fittingly, the first attempt at Thor's hammer went on a saga of its own, suffering damage at the hands of the delivery service en route to a studio. No bother for our resident hacksters though, who patched it back up in no time to the fully functioning -- if a little over-sized -- model you'll see in the video past the break.
