Mystery Science Theater THREEETHOUSANNNNNDDD Heads to Netflix!

I am such a big fan of Netflix – not because I can ever find any shows or movies to watch there, but for its original series. Specifically I really, really like Stranger Things. It was a bit creepy, a bit retro, and lots of fun. I binged the entire first season over the weekend, and I am now having withdrawals, and need to know why he left waffles in the woods. Now Netflix will soon add another great show to its stable. Word has broken that Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be coming to Netflix with a reboot of the series.

That’s right, we aren’t talking about streaming reruns, we are talking about new episodes. The series has some good writers lined up too with Joel McHale and Dan Harmon along with Elliott Kalan. The cast will include series originals Joel Hodgson, Mary Jo Pehl, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy, though newcomers Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn will be playing Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo.

Other actors playing characters on the show will include Felicia Day and Patton Oswalt. Right now, there is no exact timing on when the series will premiere. I’m sure hoping its as funny as ever.

Vimeo Now Streaming Mystery Science Theater 3000

Mystery Science Theater 3000 was taken from us too soon. We all miss the wisecracks and bad movies. Well, Manos: The Hands of Fate must be at work because now it is making a comeback thanks to a deal struck by Vimeo to stream 80 episodes of the series.

Apparently the company is working to clear the rights for the rest of the episodes so that eventually they can have all 197 of MST3K available. However, boarding the Satellite of Love to hang out with Joel, Mike and the bots will cost you.

The episodes are available individually for $2.99 to rent or $9.99 to purchase. You can also get them all for $300. Totally worth it based on the amount of laughing you will do.

Zeebox adds Viacom to its list of secondscreen partners

We love riffing on TV shows like a latter-day MST3k, which means that companies are desperate to harness our homespun satire to their own ends. Second-screen start-up Zeebox has inked a deal with MTV and Comedy Central owner Viacom, offering exclusive content in exchange for on-screen advertising. That said, we're not sure if the promise of behind-the-scenes clips would be enough to draw us away from just cattily judging the Project Runway contestants on Twitter, where we're less likely to be moderated into oblivion.
