The Dark Knight’s Batpod Is Up For Auction

the-dark-knights-batpod-up-for-auction

I firmly believe that The Dark Knight was one of the best movies ever made. Aside from the late Heath Ledger’s legendary performance, the movie was bursting with amazing elements, like its soundtrack, its complex but rich storyline, and it’s remarkable vehicles. One of these, the Batpod, is now up for auction. It’s one of six such bikes that were built for the film.

This incredible vehicle features a custom-made chassis with 31″ Hoosier racing tyres and a Honda 750 engine. Fibreglass body panels finished in metallic grey paint cover the bike’s engine and handlebars. A pair of cannon barrels made of plastic, resin and fibreglass are secured at the front of the vehicle, and a laser targeting unit is fitted above the right hand grip. A radiator and hydraulics are fitted behind the saddle, and the braking system is operated by controls on the left handle and the right pedal. Black foam padding is installed on the body, saddle and knee rests for comfort whilst riding.

Well-used on both productions, as well as in the promotion of the films as part of the Warner Bros. archive, the Batpod displays some wear to the body panels and some light corrosion on the chassis, with damage to the left gun mount as a result of use on se

We don’t expect you to buy this and ride it around or anything; we’re not even sure that’s legal. But for anyone looking to own a piece of movie history, the Batpod is expected to fetch somewhere around £60000 – £80000 ($80,000USD – $105,000USD).

New Service Texts Game Of Throne Spoilers To Your Enemies

Screen Shot 2016-06-23 at 7.00.05 AM

Someone piss you off lately? There’s lots of things you can do to get back at them, but none of these more cruel than using Spoiled.io on them. It’s a service that will ruthlessly text the latest Game of Thrones spoilers to your intended victim; you simply have to enter a phone number and pay $0.99. It’s a form of cruelty so raw and and unconscionable that we literally think the folks behind the service have to be possessed by Satan. Or something. Ok, granted, there’s only one episode left this season, so June 26th is kind of your cutoff date. But don’t you think ruining the season finale should make up for that friend bailing on your camping plans last week?

This Hodor Door Stopper Is A Hit

hodor_hold_the_door_stop_1

So… not to spoil the show for those who haven’t watched yet, interesting things happen to Hodor in Game of Thrones. It involves several things, among them being him holding a door in a very important scene. So it stands to reason that you’d see a Hodor door stopper skyrocket in popularity on Kickstarter: a project that started out seeking a modest $5,000 is up to $84,000 as of this writing. It’s 6 inches tall and 3D printed out of, well, plastic. Apparently making this out of metal would raise the costs “to over $500 per unit”. We question the company’s ability to accurately gauge the cost of metal door stoppers, but it doesn’t matter anyway, since it’s a freaking door stopper and who really needs it being made out of metal. If you want your own “Hodoor” Hold the Door Doorstop, you’ll need to pledge $37 or more.

LEGO Hoping To Cash In On New Ghostbusters’ Action

ghostbusters-1

So you might have heard: there’s a new Ghostbusters movie on the way. Those of you who grew up in the 80’s will probably smile at this retro reboot, and LEGO thinks they can cash in by selling you a brand new set. They’ll be releasing the ECTO-1 car and ECTO-2 motorbike sets, complete with characters and gear on July 1st, two weeks before the movie hits theatres. There aren’t any real spoilers in their contents, except maybe the presence of a new Red Deamon character; it’s not like anyone expected the exact same cast to be present this time around. It’ll be $60 for the set.

These Keys From Key Armoury Look Like Little Swords

key_armory_1-620x415

Adding a little bit of whimsy to your life shouldn’t cost a fortune. If you get a set of keys from Key Armoury, it won’t. The company makes key blanks based on famous sword designs. At the moment, there are 4: “Link’s Master Sword from Zelda, the Keyblade from Kingdom Hearts, King Ellesar’s Anduril from Lord of the Rings, Kylo Ren’s lightsaber from The Force Awakens, and Sting from The Hobbit.” The keys are sent to you uncut, so you will have to take them to a shop to get them to work with your locks. Considering it’s only a $10 pledge to get your own, we say it’s totally worth it.

Star Wars, Star Wars, Windshield Wiper Covers, Star Wars, Star Wars…

lightsaber-windshield-wiper-covers

When Disney bought Lucasfilm and the rights to the Star Wars franchise, we figured they’d recoup their investment quite fast. Considering the apparent fact that pretty much everything and anything is now a Star Wars product, we’re more than certain we were right. Consider these rear windshield wiper covers in the shape of a Lightsaber. They don’t actually do anything useful, like most other Star Wars merch, but if you’re somehow running out of ways to showcase your undying love for George’s little creation, you now have yet another item to add to your collection. They cost $15 and come in a variety of colors. The company, WiperTags, also makes a bunch of different non-Star-Wars rear windshield wiper covers, like daggers, swords, and chainsaws.

Watch Barbie’s Face Evolve Through 56 Years

barbie-through-the-years-small

Nothing related to tech here, but this image is going viral and it’s just interesting, so we’re posting. It’s a compilation of Barbie’s face since 1959, created by Tumbler user Tenaflyviper. As you can see, her mug changed quite a bit. It should come as no surprise anyway, since our tastes and standards for beauty have also changed quite a bit in the last 56 years. We’re not going to enter any sort of sociological discussion here, just showing you guys a neat image. The right response is “huh, look at that”, and then moving on to the next item.
