Ultimate Sleeping Pod Lets You Snooze Only 4 Hours Per Day

James from TheHackSmith has created what might be the ultimate sleep hack. His impressive project involves a Casper mattress, and a fancy and very expensive pod to house said mattress with the goal of letting the builder sleep less without being tired all the time. The idea was to create a soundproofed pod that would support something called the Everyman sleep cycle using a 3-hour core nap at night, and three 20 minute naps during the day.

The appropriately named C.A.S.P.E.R. (Centralized Automatic Sleeping Pod with Enhanced Revitalization) pod was made using lots of steel rails and other materials that allow the bed and the napper to slide in and out of the pod at will. The sliding action is handled by a garage door opener.

The pod also has its own climate control, pillow speakers, automatic LED lighting, oxygen enrichment, and sound dampening foam insulation. There is a porthole window on one side so you don’t feel like you are in a coffin.

The works is controlled by a wireless tablet that also records sleep information from a sensor inside dedicated to tracking.

The pod cost about $3,000 in materials, with $1,000 of that amount being the steel alone. It took a team of four about 3 weeks to complete the build, and you can check it out in the HackSmith video below:

Airbnb Shark Room: We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Bed & Breakfast…

Not too long ago I talked up Jaws to my daughter and told her how scary it was. We watched it and she called me a wuss because the movie wasn’t scary at all. I got my revenge the next weekend after we watched The Strangers. I busted into her room with a pillowcase on my head later that night. Payback. Regardless of what my daughter thinks, I’m not sure I could watch Jaws in this Airbnb room with real sharks swimming behind me.

Airbnb isn’t all normal rooms that you can rent, some of them are very weird. For instance there’s that Netflix themed room and the Batcave. Neither of those are as weird, scary, and cool as this Airbnb room, which is actually in the dead center of a shark tank.

As you sleep, sharks and fish swim all around you. Don’t get me wrong, the room is dry. I’m not entirely sure how you get into the round room though and I wonder if it gets cold surrounded by all that water. The room is at the Aquarium de Paris and you have to win a contest at the Airbnb UK site if you want to sleep here. The contest is open worldwide so anyone can win.

Guy Paints Awesome Mario Themed Room for a Friend

This room was made by a guy named Matt, who is a real life Mario Maker. He created it as a gift to a friend, which begs the question: Why don’t I have friends like Matt? Hey, friends. Be more like Matt!

Matt is a hard working guy like the rest of us. He made this room using paints and pencils, as a favor/thank you for a friend. He actually created this a few years ago, but imgur user ThePunNun just met Matt, so he thought he deserved some recognition.

He did a great job with this art. Matt also does tattoo art, short films, and other creative stuff, and is an all around awesome guy.

These Walls Are Crawling with Insect Art

There’s something buggy about this room. If your skin isn’t crawling yet, it will be once you see the work of Jennifer Angus. This artist has come up with a unique way to decorate those bright pink walls you see here. It makes the space look like it’s covered in wallpaper, but a closer inspection would reveal that the patterns on the wall are made of actual bugs.

This is an actual bug infested room at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery. It’s part of its debut exhibition, WONDER. Yeah, it makes me wonder how the heck anyone could actually be in that room and not get creeped out.It looks amazing, but also super creepy. It took about 5000 weevils, green stag beetles, cicadas, and other insects to complete it.The gallery had previously closed for renovations but will be back, chock full of bugs on November 13. You can see it until July 10th, 2016. That’s when it bugs out.

In case you are wondering, these bugs were not mass murdered for this project. They come from sustainable and ecologically-sound sources, and are re-used by the artist for each installation. Each species the artist uses are very abundant in countries like Malaysia, Thailand, and Papua New Guinea. Thankfully we don’t see these bugs in the US. They look scary as hell.

Minecraft Room is a Blocky Bunch of Awesome

If you are a fan of Minecraft, you will love this. The parents of a couple lucky kids made their kids rooms into Minecraft themed awesomeness. These cool parents are named Kai-Lynn and Daniel, and with some paint, time and elbow grease they made a very cool room.

The room they made for their son is embellished with big blocks everywhere, complete with what appears to be mineable diamonds in the blocks. A giant creeper face is on one wall and the torches look just like they do in the game.

There is even an orange blob light in the room that casts a glow just like the lava in the game. This is probably the coolest room for a kid I’ve seen in a very long time.
