Star Wars Rogue One Scarif Round Rug: The Death Star Plans are on the Beach!

You know what really ties a room together? A Death Star rug. Especially one with some palm trees and an AT-ST against a Scarif sunset. At least you don’t have to die stealing the plans. You can just buy one.

This round rug will cover a 52″ x 52″ area of your room and hopefully will not power up and destroy any nearby planets. It’s 100% polyester and 100% awesome. This is a nice and colorful rug. It’s like the Death Star is on vacation, wearing a tropical shirt.

It deserves a vacation. I mean, it’s been in 3 out of 7 movies. It’s basically holding up the whole franchise. I wouldn’t doubt they’ll figure out a way to work a Death Star into Episode 8.

The Productive You – Stand Up To Wake Up

ruggie

Exhausted after reporting live from the Red Dot Awards event in Essen, it was almost two in the morning by the time my head touched the pillow. The only hitch was that my airport pickup was in three hours, and as expected, I snoozed through my phone alarm. Thank heavens, that my subconscious voice kinda jolted me out of bed, and I made it to the airport on time. Sounds like a familiar story, right? Well, Ruggie should have been there …

Winson Tam, the innovator of the Ruggie, has over-snoozed the alarm several times, and resonates with the feeling of being late. His main purpose in creating this unique rug + alarm – Ruggie, is to help people overcome the lure of the warm, comforting bed and kill laziness with a purposeful step.

Tam says that “Modern clocks make it too easy for us to snooze, we need something more effective.”

As a strong advocate of being productive in your morning-best, Tam says that since distractions are at their least, and our competition are still snoozing in bed, early risers have a productive edge.

Getting down to the features, Ruggie is essentially a carpet alarm, which requires you to step on it for at least 3 seconds, to stop the buzzing. No over-sleeping here buddy!

The bright LED Display doubles up as a nightlight and you can even kick-start your day with your favorite motivational quote.

Details:

  • Modern Look – Suits any room despite function
  • Touch Sensor – Effectively getting you out of bed (must stand for at least 3 seconds to stop alarm)
  • High Density Memory Foam – Incredible comfort
  • Customizable Alarm & Post Alarm Sounds – Daily Motivation to start the day
  • Minimalistic Design – Efficient and clears room space
  • Battery Life – well over 1 year – running on 3 AAA Batteries

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, Tam moved to China, to pursue his entrepreneur instincts. As a person who always values time, especially after the loss of a close friend in a car accident, it seems only fitting that Ruggie be his next step in time management.

Drawing from his personal experiences, Tam figures that if each day he can wake up 5-minutes ahead of schedule, he can add up to 100 more days to his life – assuming that he lives to the age of 80.

“I’ve been an early bird ever since, but that habit didn’t come easy. Hence I made Ruggie, a rug where you need to get out of the bed to shut it, and hopefully it helps make it easy for everyone to build this habit.”

Ruggie is presently available at Kickstarter, get your rug alarm now!

The Cookie Monster Rug: Blue Skin Rug

I’m not sure what Cookie Monster did to deserve being skinned alive, but I’m guessing that he stole some chocolate chip cookies from these kids – and they were having none of that. Seriously, though, this Cookie Monster shag rug that turned up over on Instructables is awesome.

cookie_monster_rug_a cookie_monster_rug_2

It was designed by contributor Mikeasaurus (who I think should change his middle name to “Rex”), and despite its sheer awesomeness, is very simple – it’s just a layer of blue shag costume fur, with a couple of balls of yarn with buttons attached for eyeballs. He also made some chocolate chip cookie pillows to go along with it.

Head on over to Instructables now for the full construction guide. This makes me want a roomful of Muppet fur rugs.

Space Invaders Rugs: Drop Down Under My Feet

Next time your friends come over, you’d better have some bases for them to hide behind because this Space Invader mat is about to reverse direction, drop down and increase speed all over your floor.

space_invaders_rug_1zoom in

This handmade invaders rug is the perfect thing for any game room, and can be done up in just about any color you want. The colors shown here are pretty neat, but I think a bright green one would look really nifty too.

The Space Invaders rug sells for about $54(USD) and measures approximately 4″(W) x 3″(H). Blast your way on over to Etsy if you want one.

16-Bit Game Controller Doormat: Press “A” to Rug

This fun 16-bit game controller doormat looks like the old Super Nintendo controller (with a few changes to avoid the lawyers). Instead of button mashing with your fingers, you’ll have to do it with your feet until they are clean. It’s just good manners.

Too bad this isn’t a wireless doormat that makes you enter a cheat code to enter the home. That would be awesome – if I remembered any old cheat codes, which I don’t. Guess I’m locked out.

I’m a sucker for anything having to do with old school Nintendo, so I would definitely use this doormat. It measures 13 3/4″ tall x 30″ across, and is only $19.99(USD) from ThinkGeek.

D20 Critical Hit Door Mat Has a 1:20 Chance of Making you Fall

You might recall in the past we have talked about a cool throw rug that looks like a 20-sided die of the sort you would throw in a rousing game of Dungeons and Dragons. If you wanted a smaller version of that rug, here is your chance.

d20mat-1zoom in

This smaller D20 doormat measures about 20″ across. If you roll anything less than five, no one comes to the door. The rug has a non-skid backing so it will only slide out from under you if you roll a one. It’s made from polyester and has black binding and white numbers. It’s easier to read than the red and black rug we featured before, but this one doesn’t look quite as plush.

You can pick up your own D20 doormat for $19.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

It’s Out of This World: Millennium Falcon Area Rug

Millennium Falcon Area Rug

Regardless of how small your den may be, you can now fit a space ship in it–that is, if you have at least 33 square feet of vacant space. It’s not an actual space ship, of course, but this rug with the Millennium Falcon printed on it. The level of detail is pretty impressive, and the entire rug is cut out in the shape of the Falcon. If you’ve got some time on your hands, you can break out your tools and even turn it into a tapestry.

The rug is made from 100% polyester pile and is officially licensed.

The Millennium Falcon rug is available online for $100.

The Millennium Falcon Rug: A Space Fleet Beneath Your Feet

This Millennium Falcon rug may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts. This is the ship that did the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. Now it will sit on your floor, making your living room look like a hanger bay.

This awesome rug measures 59″ x 79″, is made from 100% polyester, and is officially licensed Star Wars merch.

It will help you to avoid any Imperial entanglements in your home and the only tractor beam it has to worry about is the pull of the vacuum cleaner, which hopefully doesn’t look like the Death Star. Or Mega Maid.
