Good Smile Company ensures that its Wind Waker Link Nendoroid won’t go alone by releasing a Nendoroid of the game’s version of Zelda, princess of Hyrule, leader of pirates, and mocker of Link.
Zelda looks so pretty in her brightly colored dress and jewelry. She comes with several arm parts, three heads – smiling, winking and angry – and her trusty bow and light arrow. She also comes with a Mirror Shield and a Master Sword for the Wind Waker Link Nendoroid.
You can pre-order the Wind Waker Zelda Nendoroid from Amiami for ~$35 (USD).
Z-target in the dark with the help of this more or less 1:1 scale Navi lamp by Etsy seller Candace aka AFK for Cosplay. Navi’s wings are made of resin while the LED is battery operated and can light up in seven different colors.
As of this writing Candace’s Etsy shop is closed because she’s sick, but it looks like her personal online shop still has some in stock for $30 (USD) each. Get well soon Candace!
Creative director Matthew Stevenson said that when they were kids, he and his brother were frustrated by the confusing maze that is Metroid. Recently the title’s pun with the DC Metro came to his mind, and with it his childhood frustration. That prompted him to make a map of the game using DC’s subway as a template. He had so much fun that he ended up making a total of six maps based on NES games.
Here’s the DC Metro/Metroid map:
This is the Moscow Transit System/Maniac Mansion map:
This is the Lisbon Subway/Dragon Warrior map:
Here’s the Tokyo Transit System/Zelda II map:
This is the New York Subway/Final Fantasy map:
And finally, the London Underground/The Legend of Zelda map:
The Zelda II and Maniac Mansion maps are my favorite. I know that the New York subway’s layout is a mess, but I’m still surprised at how badly that mashup turned out. Then again, it is better than the game’s actual map. You can order prints of the maps from Matthew’s RedBubble store for $10 to $28 (USD) depending on the size. He also sells the maps’ 300dpi JPEGs and full EPS vector files on his Etsy store for $5 each.
YouTuber Terry Garrett aka Mega Tgarrett has achieved what I would have thought was impossible. He beat The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, even though he’s blind. It took him a very long time and he had the help of game saves, but still. He went through the Water Temple, guys.
Terry played the game on PC using a Nintendo 64 emulator. This let him save and reload at any point, which meant he could master the game in tiny chunks. He also kept his speakers close to him while he played. While Navi may have been annoying to many of you, she’s been a big help to Terry. Watch him explain his setup below:
Terry started playing the game in 2011 and finally finished it this year, though obviously he took a lot of breaks in between. Here’s his ultimate playthrough – escaping from Ganon’s crumbling tower and then fighting the King of Evil one last time.
Honestly I’m still shocked that he was able to pull it off, and all I can say is congratulations to Terry. I hope he gets to enjoy more video games.
Metal-meets-gaming clothing brand Death MtnDEATH MTN DE▲TH M✝N has a new t-shirt for longtime Legend of Zelda fans and other gamers in the know. The Princess t-shirt features a shot of Zelda from the unsurprisingly bizarre Japanese commercial for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Honestly, I hadn’t seen the ad until today, so I have Attract Mode to thank for this. Here’s the infamous ad for folks like me who’ve been missing out:
We’ve already seen a fan-made Hylian Shield backpack, but if you’d like to support the big N then ThinkGeek’s officially licensed Legend of Zelda bag is for you. It has a 15″x 17″ main compartment, a 14″x 10.5″ padded laptop compartment and several pockets for pens and other small items.
Take a break from saving the world and purchase the bag from ThinkGeek for $60 (USD). I’m not sure how many Rupees that works out to be.

Last year, we featured Kelsey Kronmiller’sSuper Mario Bros. aquarium. She followed that one with another aquarium based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which can now be your fish’s Water Temple.
The 10gal. aquarium is decorated with a LEGO Master Sword and pedestal, decals and a background based on A Link to the Past as well as fake plants and gravel. It also comes with an LED-equipped hood, a 50w heater and a water filter.
Kelsey is selling the aquarium because she doesn’t have room for it in her house. More importantly she needs every cent she can get to pay her student loan. You can purchase it on her Etsy shop for $999 (USD).
