Voltron’s Flaming Sword Forged in Real Life

The blacksmiths of Baltimore Knife & Sword always do an amazing job forging fantasy weapons for Man at Arms Reforged, but they have really outdone themselves this time. This latest sword is just perfection. The team created a recreation of Voltron’s blazing sword, and it really ignites! Hank Hill would be proud, because it has a continuous propane-fueled flame. “Nothing burns like propane, I’ll tell you what!”

This was a challenging build since it was never a real sword to begin with. It’s from an ’80s cartoon, so they couldn’t get any high-res shots of the weapon. So they ended up using a small toy version to design a 3D model from, and built it from there.

The finished sword is a blazing and badass blade that I wouldn’t want to be on the wrong end of.

LEGO Voltron Concept: Defender of the Legolands

From days of this month, from the uncharted regions of the Internet, comes a legend. A legendary concept of Lion Force Voltron created by LEGO Ideas member len_d69.

While the upcoming Voltron reboot has a cool-looking take on the Lion Force, len_d69 opted to mimic their original look. As you can see, len_d69’s designs both look and work a lot like non-LEGO Voltron action figures. The designer did not mention the lions’ individual dimensions, but they did say that the feline robots combine to form a 16″ tall and 2.2 lb Voltron.

At Last, A Voltron Cat Condo

Let your cats assemble into one crazy giant cat to fight evildoers throughout the universe with this Voltron Cat Condo. This thing stands almost six feet tall, and once your cats get in it, you will learn to fear your cats and obey every meow.

This awesome cat condo includes 8 fleece-covered play tunnels that make up the arms and legs plus the head and chest pieces. You will believe that several kitties together can fly. And shoot lasers and stuff. This is the best cat condo ever.

It’s too bad we can’t really buy it since it is yet another April Fools joke from Thinkgeek, but I’m hoping they make this one a reality someday. My cat is looking forward to it.

Voltron Deluxe Hoodie: And I’ll Form the Hood!

Defend the universe with this badass hoodie from 80s Tees, featuring three fifths of the Lion Force Voltron squad in their proper positions. The only thing I don’t like about it is that Keith’s Black Lion looks a bit depressed in this hoodie. A matching pair of Blue Lion and Yellow Lion sweatpants and slippers would probably cheer him up.

While you can’t disassemble the hoodie into three cuddly lions, the Black Lion’s jaw is detachable for practical purposes.

You can order the Voltron Deluxe Costume Hoodie from 80s Tees for $160 (USD). The store also has a version of the hoodie without the lion heads, although why you’d want that over this one is beyond me.

It Takes Five People Coming Together to Form Voltron, the Defender of the Universe

Voltron Costume

All hail the mighty Voltron! I literally grew up watching reruns of the series on television when I was a kid, so he’s pretty much my favorite robot of all time. He’s got a huge following, too, so it’s uncommon to see people dress up as Voltron during cons.

Voltron is larger than life, so it makes sense that one person is not enough to portray this character. A dude who goes by the handle of Crazy Ray agrees, which is why he spent over two months painstakingly cutting, gluing, and putting together five costumes that come together to form a single giant Voltron Force figure.

Crazy Ray isn’t just crazy over Voltron. He’s also crazy generous for sharing the full instructions on creating the costumes, so you can make your own if you want to.
