Traveling soon? This modular 40L travel backpack has individual storage solutions for every single item

It isn’t often that you see a backpack that has its own built-in laundry bag, or a backpack with dedicated, separate storage for your shoes as well as your laptop and charger, but the Tripper backpack isn’t the kind of backpack you see too often. After a two year hiatus, the world is slowly opening up to full-scale traveling again and the Tripper wants you to be as prepared as you can be.

Going above and beyond your average backpack design, the Tripper (as its name suggests) prepares you for extensive trips, whether they’re leisure trips, staycations, business excursions, holidays, or just impromptu getaways. The backpack’s 40-liter capacity provides about as much storage as you’d get from a duffle, although where it outperforms your duffle is in its sheer attention to detail and conscientious modularity. Sounds hyperbolic? Well, I assure you it isn’t.

One Bag for All – Equipped with four powerful modular packing tools, 25 pockets and more than 15 unique features.

The Tripper comes with dedicated storage for possibly any travel-carry you could conceive of. It has a large storage space for your clothes, accessible via a 180° opening flap and complete with harness straps on the inside that secure your clothes, preventing them from getting crushed. It even has its own removable IPX8 waterproof laundry bag inside, so your worn, soiled clothes can sit in a separate bag, away from your clean ones.

40L Capacity & 180 Degree Shell Opening – The zipper on the top opens directly 180 degrees, providing a large opening through which you can easily reach all your gear.

The Tripper also comes with its bespoke toiletries bag made from soft plastic, allowing it to be waterproof too so your shampoos and moisturizers won’t even think of leaking all over your clothes and tech.

Speaking of tech, the Tripper also arms you with a laptop sleeve that fits your laptop, tablet, and phone, securing your gadgets with a Fidlock locking system. Wondering where to stash your chargers? There are mesh pouches for all of them, with the ability to even stash a power bank on the inside and connect it to your phone using a USB port built into the backpack’s design… and that’s just the storage solutions on the inside of the Tripper bag.

On the outside, the Tripper comes with its own separately located ventilated shoe-bag in the base of the backpack, lined with an antibacterial fabric. The backpack is also equipped with quick-access RFID-blocking pouches for things like your wallet and passport, and even though the Tripper is built with a hydrophobic water-repelling fabric and waterproof YKK zippers, each bag also comes with its own rain cover that further shields it from the elements.

The elements, however, aren’t the only thing travelers and tourists worry about and Tripper is well aware of that too. While the RFID-blocking pouch gives you a certain degree of security, the Tripper also comes with its own anti-theft system in the form of a detaching shoulder strap that can then be wrapped around a secure object and locked in place, preventing anyone from picking up and taking off with your bag.

The Tripper Bag is also equipped with Okoban, a global lost-and-found database that allows other people to notify you if they find your lost bag… although I’d recommend just chucking an AirTag into the backpack for good measure.

Built-in Raincover – Pull out the backpack rain covers and happily protect your backpacks.

IPX8 Waterproof Laundry Bag – This bag is a great place to put wet or dirty items.

All in all, Tripper’s design does a pretty fine job of carefully considering all your travel needs and factoring them into the bag’s design. In a rush? The bag is equipped with a chest strap that takes the pressure off your shoulders, or alternatively, you can even hook both the shoulder straps together and turn them into a single strap, allowing you to carry your Tripper like a duffle bag.

Moreover, each Tripper also includes a small cross-shoulder sling bag for storing small items like your phone, spectacles, wallet, AirPods, etc. The sling bag can even be used independently on most days when you’re stepping out of the house to meet friends or run errands. Designed not just for all weathers but also for overall durability, each Tripper is manufactured to the highest standards with industry-leading YKK zippers and also a scratch-resistant fabric that can take everything life throws at you. The Tripper backpack starts at $99 for just the backpack itself without any of the trims. However, for just $20 more, you can grab the entire bundle which includes the backpack, laptop sleeve, sling bag, toiletries bag, and waterproof laundry bag.

Herman Miller hiking backpack is a comfortable, robust and premium adventure accessory

This Herman Miller hiking backpack is something outrightly unique thanks to its niche structure and the hues it comes in.

A mention of backpacks doesn’t raise any eyebrows until it is something extraordinary. Penning down this article is one of those instances where we are talking about an ergonomically comfortable backpack that’s not ordinary. This accessory draws inspiration from the Herman Miller camp for a highly comfortable fit that emulates the back shape. In fact, this one plays it safe and tries to replicate the winning design of the Cosm gaming chair.

Designer: Judar Design

The backpack has lightweight aesthetics, and the designer gives much of the focus on how the accessory can be a practical hiking backpack given the Herman Miller chair influence. This backpack is suited for city commuters who have to carry their laptop and other important stuff safely, as well as, hikers and campers who need a robust, waterproof rucksack to haul the load. The solid structure on the outside – just like the Cosm chair – provides protection from any accidental bumps when important breakable stuff is inside.

The featherweight hiking backpack has two main separate sections to keep your stuff organized. On the inside, there is a sleeve for laptops, tablets and more pockets to carry along smaller accessories. There’s a profound lumbar pad and ventilation system to keep things as comfortable as they can get. The hip belt reinforced with the solid structural material also provides able support when you are going out on extended adventure trips. The design is still in the concept stage and comes in peppy colors including – cool blue, pristine brown, light grey.
I don’t see any gear loops or water bottle holders which are a must-have in a hiking backpack. So, the designer could have added them for an all-around impressive backpack design. That said, the Herman Miller’s influence on this backpack’s design is something to cherish here.

Carryfly Travel Pack fits everything you need and matches your wardrobe, too

Switch from casual to chic and from pro photographer to travel bug with this backpack that can fit almost all needs and color styles.

Even the most pleasurable of trips can start out full of stress because of the preparations involved, especially when it comes to packing. It is extremely difficult to find a single travel bag that will work with all kinds of travel, not to mention one that won’t clash with your style on any given day. Most bags change form or parts to accommodate the changing needs of travelers, but the decision-making only adds to the stress of travel prep. That’s the kind of stress that this traveler’s bag tries to chase away, with its plethora of compartments to accommodate everything you’ll need on your journey. Plus, it can change its face to match the color of your mood or wardrobe theme.

Designer: Carryfly Design

Click Here to Buy Now: $199 $350 ($151 off). Hurry, only 2/3 left!

It’s too easy to take for granted what a little splash of color can do. With a single look, it can express one’s mood or taste more effectively than multiple words. Most bags limit you to the style and color that you chose when you bought them, practically forcing you to buy different bags for different looks. The Carryfly Travel Backpack’s changeable leather front faces let you switch colors easily, even on the fly, letting you match your day’s color scheme. Of course, that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberg because this travel bag’s real power comes from both within and on the outside.

The 50-liter Carryfly Travel Backpack has a place for almost anything you need to bring with you. A compartment for a laptop is common fare these days, but how about a dedicated front compartment for notebooks, pens, and other stationery tools? There’s also a bottle pocket that conveniently zips out of the way when not in use. The backpack has plenty of hidden pockets, especially on the back, for stuff you need to keep out of and out of the hands of sneaky thieves. And to protect the main contents of your bag, there’s a password-protected lack on top similar to the ones you’d see on suitcases.

The travel pack isn’t exactly modular, but it can change its internal configuration to meet your needs. It has a shoe compartment for when you need more than just the ones on your feet. If, however, you don’t need to bring another pair, you can use that space for clothes or for a camera. Alternatively, you can also fit the EDC pouch to keep your favorite tools safe when not in use. Whether you’re packing for a long trip or just a short photography excursion, the Carryfly will be ready to fly with you, carrying all that you need.

Of course, the backpack is made from durable materials, including anti-scratch and water-resistant 1680D Oxford material, as well as durable YKK zippers. But if you think that you’d be carrying a tank, you’d be surprised at how comfortable it will feel on your back. In addition to ergonomic cushions, the design of the backpack’s back also facilitates good airflow to help keep your own back cool. Microfiber leather, especially with on the changeable covers, also give the travel bag a more premium look compared to other rugged bags you’d find on the market.

Whatever your travel needs and style, the Carryfly Travel Pack has all the compartments and pockets you need to fit your stuff. You can get the Carryfly Backpack V1 alone for $199 on Kickstarter if you’re fast enough to grab that Super Early deal. Shutterbugs, however, might want to reach for the Super Saver deal that includes the Backpack, the Camera Bag, and an EDC Pouch, all for only $289.

This DSLR-inspired hardshell backpack packs a portable power station that can charge your E-bike

For people who want to live off the grid, Hikerpower actually lets you carry your personal grid along with you.

From afar, the Hikerpower distinctly looks like two things. Firstly, you’d probably think that it’s a backpack, given how it straps to your back for the sake of portability. Look closer and that shape will instantly feel familiar. It kind of looks like a DSLR’s body without the lens! With an aesthetic that’s sure to grab your eye and pique your curiosity, the Hikerpower isn’t, in fact, a traditional backpack OR a DSLR. It’s actually a portable power station that packs a whopping 600Wh battery on the inside that’s capable of outputting 1000W of power. Perfect for outdoor treks, camping, or even using on your lawn, Hikerpower gives you your own personal battery pack that you can use to charge anything from your smartphone to your e-bike. Got stuff you need to carry? Well, the Hikerpower does (technically) function as a backpack too, allowing you to carry food, water, clothing, drones, cameras, and more.

Designer: Tony Lei

Click Here to Buy Now: $699 $1199 (41% off). Hurry, for a limited time only.

Let’s face it… it’s 2022 and that portable power bank doesn’t quite cut it anymore. Our battery needs have evolved well beyond just smartphones, which explains why companies like Ford are literally letting your EV power your house in the event of an outage. The Hikerpower is pretty much like that, sans the actual EV. Designed to be the first battery pack that you can actually wear, Hikerpower gives you energy independence or what its makers like to call the third Industrial Revolution of the Power Station (the first being the grid, and the second being backup power). It weighs a manageable 18 lbs or 8.2 kilograms (that’s roughly how much the average rucksack would weigh), and packs its own 600Wh battery inside the bag’s rugged, hardshell case.

The Hikerpower can provide 600Wh and 1000W of stable and sufficient power support.

The battery inside Hikerpower can be accessed in a multitude of ways. Flip open its upper flap (which has a built-in LED lamp) and you hit Hikerpower’s mother lode of ports, featuring AC and DC sockets, a cigarette lighter socket (like the one found in cars), 3 USB-A ports, one USB-C port, and a working LCD display that lets you know how much power you’ve got left. To charge the Hikerpower, it comes with an input that either lets you hook it up to an AC power supply, or to solar panels, effectively letting you use renewable energy while outdoors.

While the most obvious use-case for something like this is outdoor camping, the concept of energy independence goes far beyond just simply living outdoors. Hikerpower can be used by photographers and drone enthusiasts too, or by long-distance travelers who want to be able to charge their e-bike or scooter to expand their range. Moreover, the backpack is just as effective in domestic settings, letting you use items like a leafblower, an electric grill, or even a projector in your backyard without worrying about being near a power socket. The power management system within the backpack allows it to output a max of 2000W, comfortably taking care of practically any power needs you may have while outdoors.

In case of heavy rain, snow, or if you need to wade through water, just pull out the hidden 3D waterproof cover inside the bag and put it on, totally protecting your Hikerpower.

Speaking however, of outdoors, the Hikerpower still prioritizes the outdoor lifestyle. It comes with storage that’s large enough for a few clothes, gadgets, and food, and the backpack’s unusual design also has a concavity on its exterior that functions as a D-hook hanger, letting you suspend tents, sleeping bags, yoga mats, or rolled up solar panels to the bag. Even though it’s more of a portable power station than backpack, it still prioritizes ergonomics, with wide shoulder straps that distribute the weight evenly, lumbar support for your spine, and a mesh-lined back to promote breathability.

The backpack also comes with safety lights (especially useful while riding a two-wheeler) that glow in red, yellow, blue, and green, and even let you activate 3 flashing patterns that serve different purposes from alerting other riders to even functioning as an SOS distress signal. The safety lights are accompanied by a cool LED light panel on the top that flips open, letting you adjust its angle as well as its brightness, making it a perfect ambient outdoor lamp for illuminating your tent or reading.

Designed clearly for the outdoors, the Hikerpower comes equipped to deal with any unforeseen problems. The Lithium Iron Phosphate battery cells inside the bag are packed inside an aluminum enclosure that dissipates heat as well as protects the batteries from damage. The power station’s battery management system also takes care of any charging issues with features like short circuit protection, surge protection, overheating, overload, or overvoltage protection, while the backpack itself boasts of an operating temperature range of 14°F to 113°F. To bare the outdoor elements, the backpack even comes with its own waterproof raincoat that slides right around it, creating a protective shield that works in both heavy rain or snow. The Hikerpower comes in two colors for now (Tiger Orange or Camo Black) with a 41% discounted price tag of $699 that also includes a Kickstarter special 2-year warranty on your portable power station.

Adaptable Onli Travel Revolution Modular Bag System – Helps Relieve the Stress of Travel

Never lose your cool again while traveling with this flexible bag system, which lets you be the boss of your stuff, not the other way around! It’s a modular 3-part bag that adapts on the fly to the challenges travel throws at you.

Even the most relaxing vacation travel can get stressful hours or even days before leaving, all because of having to prepare for spending time away from the comforts of home. In addition to trying to figure out how much or how little to bring, travelers also have to take into account the kind of bag to use for the trip. Whether it’s a long vacation out of town or a simple trip back home for Thanksgiving, people tend to carry different bags for different occasions. And that’s not even considering the traveling you’ll be doing around your destination. If you find yourself pulling your hair out over all these considerations, then you might want to consider getting this three-part modular four-wheel spinner/backpack system, which covers all your travel bag needs, whether you need a larger suitcase to roll around or a slim backpack to carry for shorter trips or around town.

Designers: Dave Logan and Kyle Logan

Click Here to Buy Now: $319 $439 (27% off). Hurry, less than 48 hours left! Raised over $170,000.

We need a suitcase when traveling for more than a few days, but we often also need a smaller bag for shorter trips during that period. Sometimes, however, we just need a weekender to get us through a couple of days away, plus a laptop bag to work at a cafe or even at a park. The most obvious solution to this would be to have a bag for each of those cases, but that only multiplies your problems rather than reduces them. What if you had, instead, a single bag that catered to all those needs? Or better yet, what if you had a set of bags that functioned as a whole or separately, depending on what you needed?

Building on its successful initial product in 2019, Onli Travel is now bringing forth its new Revolution Rolling Pack to deliver that solution. Just like its predecessor, the system is composed of three modular bags that you can combine together in different ways or use apart as the case warrants. All three together make up a large suitcase that you can roll or carry as a backpack, but the front Messenger Tote Pack and the rear Expandable Daypack can also be detached and used separately or combined and expanded into a larger Weekender backpack for shorter periods of time away from home.

Those aren’t the only features this system has, of course. A notable upgrade is the change from a two-wheel roller-board to a four-wheel “spinner,” making it effortless to pull or push the luggage in any direction (including sideways down airplane aisles). When space constraints require it, you can easily collapse the telescopic handle and throw the luggage on your back as well, as it also works as a travel backpack.

If there’s not enough space on the airplane, you can take the modules apart so that they can fit in tighter spaces in the overhead. (The front unit has even been designed to strap to the tray on the seat in front of you, converting to an in-flight workstation to make your time in the middle seat tolerable!) And, of course, there’s an array of perfectly thought out pockets and compartments to help you ergonomically organize anything and everything you need for quick access while you travel.

Left: Messenger Tote Pack. Right: Expandable Daypack.

Each part of the Travel Revolution system is specially designed for different travel scenarios or to solve problems encountered while traveling. The four-wheel Expandable Spinner, for example, can expand to accommodate more stuff if you buy things on your trip and has side pockets to stash an umbrella or water bottle; the Expandable Daypack opens flat for easier inspection at security checkpoints and allows you to access contents easily like a suitcase; And the Messenger Tote Pack can be worn as a tote, messenger bag, or backpack, and has room for both a 17-inch laptop and a tablet. With the Onli Travel Revolution, you finally have a bag that adapts to fit your travel needs and reduces the stress of travel.

Even the Onli 8-cube packing cube system helps – in addition to anticipating what you need to bring, Onli designed it to perfectly fit the bag and utilize the space, so you don’t have to worry about whether it will fit!

According to Onli Travel, the future of luggage is modular. After looking at this design, let the modular revolution begin!

This 3D-printed backpack is constructed from fully recyclable mono-materials to create a circular design loop

Outdoor mountain sports brand Vaude developed Novum 3D, a 3D-printed backpack that’s made from mono-materials to be recycled and made within a circular design loop.

Vaude is an outdoor mountain sports brand that develops sustainable outdoor gear because they want younger generations to be able to enjoy the outdoors in the same ways we’ve enjoyed it. Supplying the clothing, accessories, and equipment necessary to take on your next hike, camping trip, or forest bath, Vaude is committed to a responsible and sustainable design process from start to finish and back again. Using innovative 3D printed back pads, Vaude’s latest product is a fully recyclable backpack made from mono-materials.

Designer: Vaude

Dubbed Novum 3D, Vaude’s outdoor backpack features a honeycomb construction that ensures maximum stability while keeping the materials needed for production to a minimum. Each component of the backpack, from the straps to packsack and even the honeycomb back pads is 3D printed from 100% thermoplastic material (TPU). Each component of the Novum 3D is also fully removable and recyclable, taking a big step towards a circular economy.

Sustainability remains at the forefront of Vaude’s design principles. As the designers note on their website, “Ideally, a product should be returned completely back to the production process at the end of its life cycle. This is true recycling, but it is still a big challenge for the textile industry at the moment. Many products consist of at least 5 to 10 different materials or mixed fabrics and therefore cannot be separated by type. For this to succeed, the entire product life cycle must be considered and redeveloped.”

While some might assume that sustainable design isn’t necessarily a comfortable design, Vaude’s integration of 3D printing ensures both. Looking no further than nature to define the backpack’s comfort, Vaude notes, “Innovative 3D printing technology creates an extremely lightweight suspension system. The honeycomb construction is one of the most stable forms in nature. This type of construction offers us the highest stability with the least amount of material. The lightweight, open structure also automatically provides ideal ventilation. At the same time, different degrees of hardness ensures ideal pressure distribution.”

Off-White collaborated with teenage engineering to design a collection of clothing items that honor Virgil Abloh

Born from a collaboration between Off-White™ and teenage engineering, the Capsule Collection is a line of clothing items as well as an orange, transparent shoulder bag that is custom-fitted to store teenage engineering’s OB–4 loudspeaker.

Swedish consumer electronics company and manufacturer ‘teenage engineering’ is known for its extensive catalog of electronics and synthesizers, including its core product the OP–1 as well as instant cameras. One of their more recent electronic loudspeakers, the OB–4, is a portable, hi-fi loudspeaker that “memorizes everything you play on an endless loop.” In a recent project with Off White that “honors our collaboration with late friend and partner, Virgil Abloh,” the duo designed a collection of clothing items that range from a shirt and hoodie to cargo pants and a carry bag made specifically to store OB–4 loudspeaker.

Designers: Off-White™ x teenage engineering

Dubbed the Capsule Collection, teenage engineering describes the collaboration, “Designed by Off-White™ exclusively for our collaboration, the collection includes a transparent orange carry bag for OB–4, t-shirt, hoodie, and a multipocketed white bomber jacket and cargo pant set–featuring custom pockets to fit teenage engineering devices.” Strewn all over the bomber jacket’s arms and midsection, custom-fitted pockets provide ample storage for everyday items as well as teenage engineering electronic products, like instant cameras and synthesizers.

While the bomber jacket is currently sold out on teenage engineering’s website, the other pieces of Capsule Collection are still available and feature custom-fitted pockets as well. The off-white cargo pants belong to the same set as the bomber jacket, featuring similarly sized pockets all over the pant’s front and sides. Then, the transparent vinyl orange shoulder bag is the perfect size to carry teenage engineering’s OB–4 loudspeaker.

This ergonomic urban-friendly backpack was co-designed with chiropractors to support your spine

Remember the 9 out of 10 dentists that recommend Oral-B’s toothbrushes? This is like that… but instead, it’s a backpack that’s recommended for your back.

Meet the Symmetry S1, a backpack that was designed slightly differently than you’d normally expect. Most backpacks are designed to fulfill a certain purpose… A functional purpose, a scenario purpose, an aesthetic purpose. The Symmetry S1, however, was made to also be a bag your back loved carrying. Designed with inputs from chiropractors, the S1 is a stylish, functional backpack that you can wear forever without feeling the fatigue. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it the orthopedic shoes of the backpack world, but the S1 wasn’t just designed to suit your lifestyle, it was designed to also suit your body.

Designer: Taylor Sitton of Symmetry Backpacks

Click Here to Buy Now: $209 $300 ($91 off). Hurry, only 268/300 left!

The Symmetry S1 comes with a versatile-looking aesthetic that works in both formal as well as informal settings. As its name suggests, it sports a symmetrical design that’s ambidextrous and pleasing to look at, and comes made from high-quality materials including a twill nylon body, a ballistic nylon base, full-grain leather accents on the straps and handles, and memory-foam cushioning inside the straps and the lumbar support. The memory foam lining within the straps takes loads of pressure off your shoulders and back, and the form-fitting design of the backpack clings to you as you walk, improving your posture and preventing you from slouching or your spine from feeling the weight of the bag with each step.

The makers behind the Symmetry S1 backpack realized that while everyone was focusing on purpose-built bags that either were modular, filled with tech, lined with solar panels, or just designed to go from the office to the gym to the airport, not many backpack makers were actually considering the human-centric aspect of the product’s design. Sure, you could slap a breathable 3D mesh on the back panel to prevent the wearer’s back from sweating, but aside from that feature, none of the bags were actually designed to be ergonomic. The Symmetry S1 aims at ticking that box, along with a bunch of other, thanks to a versatile design that works wherever you take the S1.

The S1 comes with well-organized interiors with dedicated storage areas, mesh-lined pockets, and removable nodes/modules to give all your belongings their rightful place. The S1’s front flap opens a full 180° to reveal its insides, A dedicated laptop sleeve comes padded and can store up to a 16-inch MacBook, while pockets on the front panel let you store a tablet, a notepad, stationery, and a variety of other EDC and accessories. The bag even sports collapsible side pockets for your water bottle or umbrella, a quick-access slot on the top for your keys, and a concealed back pocket for more precious valuables like your wallet or passport.

Lastly (and this might be the most underrated feature on a backpack ever), the S1’s flat ballistic nylon base actually allows it to stand upright without tipping over, giving you the ability to easily place the backpack on the ground wherever you are – at work, at home, at the airport, on the subway, or at a local café.

Ultimately, the S1 focuses on the wearer as much as the stuff inside the backpack. Its body-hugging design keeps your spine in the right shape, promoting good posture while the memory foam straps help distribute the load so you don’t feel the weight of the bag on your shoulders. The S1 sports adjustable straps, fitting a wide range of body types, and comes in 3 color variants – an all-black variant, a gray variant with brown leather accents, and a blue variant with brown leather accents. All the bags are outfitted with waterproof YKK zippers, a rugged, abrasion-resistant ballistic nylon base, and 4 metal feet on the bottom to allow the backpack to stand upright. The bags cost $300 but are up for grabs on Kickstarter at an early bird discount for $209. Each S1 comes with 3 removable nodes/modules, and free shipping.

This London-based sustainability start-up is building urban backpacks out of ocean waste… and bananas

Call it irony or simply a funny coincidence, but the lab.inc backpacks (which are designed to hold your stuff) are made from the stuff you throw away! The bag explores an entirely sustainable approach to fashion with fabric that’s made from recycled ocean plastic as well as vegan leather made from banana plants. It simultaneously reduces planetary clutter thanks to its sustainable materials, while organizing the clutter in your life by giving you a dapper backpack to carry stuff in!

Upcycling ocean-bound plastic.

lab.inc’s backpack combines an approach to designing a backpack for an urban city-dweller, along with a focus on ensuring it’s not ‘just another bag’ made with more virgin materials. To execute their vision, lab.inc partnered with #tide Ocean SA, an Award-winning Swiss upcycling company that turns ocean-bound plastic trash into reusable raw materials. The result is a backpack that’s made almost entirely out of recycled plastic, from its waterproof outer fabric, to even the straps and robust plastic clasps.

On purely an aesthetic front, the lab.inc backpack is every bit an urban classic. Its design is simple yet sophisticated, and tries to blend in while standing out. The bag boasts of an all-black exterior that’s punctuated by a strap that vertically cuts through its volume. Designed to help the bag and the wearer stand out, the strap comes with a replaceable design that can be swapped out based on your mood or need. You can choose a bright vibrant-colored vegan leather strap to provide visual contrast against the black backpack or a reflective strap that’s perfect for biking or trekking in the dark. lab.inc also offers a third strap variant made from Bananatex® – a durable, waterproof, sustainable fabric made entirely from the banana plant.

The backpack stores up to 21L, giving you enough space to carry your work + life with you on your daily commute. It comes with padded interiors and designated areas for your laptop, tech accessories, stationery, EDC, and anything you might need to carry around during your daily travel to work, the gym, the supermarket, a friend’s place, and back home. Even the clasps, buttons, buckles, and zippers are sustainably designed out of recyclable materials that can be repurposed using the same techniques used by #tide to turn ocean waste back into raw materials.

Ultimately, the broad appeal of the lab.inc backpack lies in its modern design and use of modern, high-performance, sustainable materials. The fabric developed by #tide is rugged enough to take on the fast-paced hustle-bustle city life, while being waterproof so your bag can withstand rainy outdoors, and also having a reduced carbon impact because of all the recycled plastic. The interchangeable overlying strap (which forms the lab.inc backpack’s most visually defining feature) gives you the unique ability to customize your bag based on your mood and need… and the folks at lab.inc are building out an ecosystem of different strap designs that offer even more functionality – from straps that let you hang sports equipment like your basketball or skateboard, and even solar-panel straps that let you harness solar energy to charge your gadgets inside the bag!

This expandable backpack somehow manages to fit an entire closet inside it… no, seriously.

Clearly, we’ve been looking at backpacks all wrong. Just 10 seconds into the video above, my sufficiently fancy laptop bag suddenly feels about as well-designed as a burlap sack. The way the Nest backpack by Tropicfeel behaves and unfolds, it rethinks bags completely. Instead of being a container to organize and store all your belongings, The Nest somehow lets you pack your life with you. Its individual compartments come apart, expand, and exist outside the bag, turning it into a detachable, modular, and expandable wardrobe/closet that unfolds when you unpack.

Designer: Lúcid Design

Click Here to Buy Now: $128 $200 (36% off). Hurry, less than 48 hours left!

The Nest’s expanding design isn’t just about creatively using the space inside the bag, it’s also about creatively attaching modules onto the existing bag to give it more meaning. The Nest’s design is centered around 3 elements of living – Daily, Hobbies, and Adventure, and it comes with purpose-built accessories and add-ons that go with the bag’s design. At its very heart, the Nest is a 16L bag with all the frills you’d expect: storage for your laptop, compartments and pockets for your belongings and tech accessories, and an overall design that blends comfort with function and style. However, its relatively benign 16L design can expand by almost double, storing 30L when expanded. The base comes with a kangaroo pocket that’s perfect for storing bulky items you’d otherwise never put in your bag (shoes, for instance), and a spider net panel on the back provides even more storage, giving you extra room for extra belongings.

What transforms the Nest into a full-blown wardrobe are its cleverly designed add-on bags. The add-ons plug right into the Nest when you need to carry them around, but when you’re unpacking, they plug right out and become individual entities. The organizer ‘cube’ can be hung on hooks, expanding into a criss-cross of pockets to store your belongings, while the smart packing cube literally folds out into a slim makeshift wardrobe for all your organized belongings. In fact, the smart packing cube itself accounts for an extra 10L of storage – giving you dedicated soft ‘shelves’ for shirts, pants, undergarments, and other belongings. A hook on the top lets the smart packing cube be hung from anywhere too, like a mini vertical wardrobe. There’s a camera ‘cube’ too, specially designed to hold your camera and all its lenses and accessories. These cubes either go inside the bag, or attach onto them like modules, allowing you to store and carry more without really making the bag bulky or cluttered. On unpacking, they simply separate into their own elements, turning a seemingly small 16L bag into a veritable closet of all your belongings.

Another extremely clever design detail on the Nest is its ‘secret compartment’ which exists almost like a trapdoor inside the backpack. It stays flat when you don’t need it, but flips open into a sturdy compartment when you want to store something precious. This secret compartment is accessible through a concealed opening that’s literally impossible for thieves to access when you’re wearing the bag. The Nest is littered with other such functional details, like a sunglasses-holder, a special secret pocket for your smartphone, lateral straps to hold onto a tripod, metal clasps to hold everything together, and a pass-through panel to let you slide your backpack onto a wheeled suitcase.

The Nest comes from the folks at Tropicfeel, an innovation-driven team of 36 operating out of Barcelona responsible for creating two of the most funded outdoor shoes on Kickstarter in 2018 and 2019 respectively. The Nest is their sophomore bag, following the wildly successful Shell backpack, which raised over $2 million from nearly 8000 backers just last year. Building on the success of last year’s backpack design, the Nest is an everyday backpack that’s also purpose-built for your next adventure, and is designed to be more compact yet more accommodating. It comes in a single cabin-friendly 16L size that expands to 20L with the kangaroo pouch, while giving you an extra removable 10L storage thanks to the smart packing cube. Just the bag itself costs $128 on Kickstarter (or $200 retail) going up to $228 if you go for the backpack with all the accessories. Like every one of Tropicfeel’s products, it’s built to last, ships internationally, and comes backed by a robust lifetime warranty.
