Brick Burgers Have LEGO Buns

Brick Burger may have the best hamburger ever. This place is a LEGO-inspired burger restaurant based in the Philippines. Guess what that means? It means I just ordered a plane ticket to Manila. One way.

The interior of the restaurant is all decked out in a LEGO theme and those burgers? The buns look like LEGO blocks. Sadly, they don’t stack, but that’s okay. Also sadly, these burgers aren’t served by humans dressed as minifigs. You can’t have everything.

They come in a variety of flavors and colors. I bet they have the buns all tossed in a bin in the back, just like how many of us store our own LEGO bricks. Except if they step on one of these, it’s no big deal.

Sushi Burger: Filet-O-Raw-Fish

I was once at CES and had a day so busy that I walked like billion miles and I didn’t have time to eat. It just so happened that I was invited out to dinner and was promised a steak. I was happy, at least until the last minute when the vendor decided at the last minute to serve sushi instead. I hate fish when it’s cooked, much less when raw. Starving as I was, I ate it. For all I know, it may have been $1,500 sushi, but I’ll never do that again.

Even thinking about the eel I ate makes me gag a little, and and this Sushi burger from Japan makes me throw up in my mouth. Unlike a real hamburger, the Saba Burger has got a piece of raw mackerel with skin on it instead of a beef patty.

Along with the fish, it has sushi vinegar rice, shiso, something green, and wasabi-mayo sauce. Pass. If you happen to be in Japan, you can get yours at Sushiro.

The Perfect “Burger Drop” Created Without CGI

You know the “burger drop”. No, it’s not when you drop your burger on the floor and cry. Fast food restaurants like to use the burger drop in commercials, showing us each layer of the burger and how fresh and bouncy it is as it falls in place. How you ever wondered how they do that?

Well, the burger used is often CGI, modeled and animated for the perfect mouth-watering drop every time, but not all ad directors want to use CGI in their commercials. Director Steve Giralt likes practical effects, so he wanted to use a real burger. He had to build a ridiculously complex machine to make it happen, but he accomplished his goal. Check out the build in the video below, and you’ll have a new appreciation the next time you see a burger drop in a commercial.

The machine is controlled by his “Precision Arduino Timing Relay Imaging Controller”, or P.A.T.R.I.C. for short. It may be a complex contraption, but it made the burger drop look easy. You Steve are a true American and have advanced burger technology by at least a decade. Burger lovers everywhere salute you.

Gundam Themed Japanese Burgers Look Gundamn Good

Japan seems to get all the strange foods, and of late, it seems that burgers have been a big focus of edible oddities. Japan had that all black hamburger at Burger King a while back that looked both tasty and gross at the same time. Now we learn that Japan is getting Gundam themed burgers.

Naturally, the burgers are available at the Gundam Café. The one called the Sleggar Burger sells for ¥700 (~$6 USD). The Gundam Burger will cost you ¥780 (~$6.50 USD), and the Char Zaku and Zaku II burgers cost a bit more at ¥800 (~$7 USD).

The burger with the pink bun looks rather gross; it has olives and some sort of tomato sauce on it. The one with what appears to be BBQ sauce and cheese I would totally eat – all it needs is bacon.

Hamburger Beanbag Looks Good Enough To Eat

Looks Good Enough to Eat: Burger Bangle

The Burger Bangle is a set of bangles that come together to form something wonderful and mouthwatering: a big fat juicy burger with lettuce, onions, cheese, and tomatoes. Take it apart and you can wear each component bangle separately for a different look. It might not be a good idea to wear this while you’re on a diet though, for obvious reasons.

Want to skip the color and go for something more discrete? The all-white or all-black burger bangles might be more fitting for your taste.

‘Liberation’ Wrapper Lets Japanese Women Eat Burgers While Looking Demure

A lot of people I know tend to avoid eating two things in public: chicken and burgers. Chicken, because it’s harder to eat without using your hands (and the smell lingers on your fingers when you do) and burgers, because you can look quite unsightly when you open wide to take a bite.

For the former, there’s finger tongs (or trongs). For the latter, there’s the Liberation wrapper to hide you behind a demure facade while you stuff your face.

The burger wrapper was debuted by Japanese burger chain Freshness Burger. Printed on the outside side of the wrapper is a half-face of a smiling woman, which is meant to cover the diner’s actual half-face while she eats.

The wrapper essentially masks the person’s face from the front view, although I don’t think anything can be done for the side view at this point. After switching their wrappers to this, Freshness Burger reported a 213% increase among women who ordered their burgers.

I wonder if they’ll make a male version of the Liberation Wrapper for the men who do care about how they look when they eat.
