Jurassic Block Puts a Natural History Museum on Your Desk

Kids love dinosaurs, which is why they collect all of the Jurassic Park toys. Adults also love dinosaurs, and they also buy the toys. But if you’re looking for a collectible that is a bit more adult than some action figures and dino statues, check out this Jurassic Block fossil collection.

Jurassic Blocks are 5 by 5-inch blocks made with high-quality, super clear acrylic, and have real dinosaur fossils embedded inside. Owning actual pieces of dinosaur sounds pretty damn cool. I don’t know anyone else who owns any dino-bits, so I could be the only one on my block to have this. Awesome.

Serious dino buffs are going to love this. IWT Designs has curated these fossils excavated from all over the world, and they include fossilized remains from the late Cretaceous period, like a dinosaur eggshell, T.rex bone and raptor, and it also has fossils of creatures from the late Jurassic era like the stegosaurus, triceratops, and pterosaur.

It will cost you $175 to $199 on Kickstarter. The campaign has already passed its set funding goal, and they should start arriving in your mailbox around January 2019. This is really a great idea for dino lovers and will impress your geek friends.

Shut up and Take My Money for this Planet Express Master Series Ship Replica!

I loved every single episode of Futurama when it was on the air, and have watched most of the episodes at least twice since they first ran. Matt Groening’s animated sci-fi comedy may not be making new episodes anymore, but that doesn’t mean you can’t show your love for the series every day. This replica of the Planet Express ship should serve as a great reminder.

I can imagine tiny versions of Fry, Leela, Bender, Professor Farnsworth, Hermes, Zoidberg, and Amy flying around the universe making same day deliveries in this miniature Master Series Planet Express ship. The ship is a perfect replica of the one on the show, and features lots of neat details.

The 12″ long model even lights up at the push of a button, with LED illumination of the cockpit, portholes, and rocket exhaust pipes. Quantum Mechanix are the guys behind this awesome collectible, and they know a thing or two about making great toys and replicas.

And here’s the good news, everyone! You can buy one today over at ThinkGeek, and it won’t break the bank either, since it’s priced at just $59.99. How could you NOT afford to buy one?

Rick and Morty Portal Bookends: Shumshumschilpiddydah!

They say that books are portals into other worlds, and that’s actually very true. You might say that books are our very own portal gun. So these Rick and Morty Portal Bookends are the perfect way to keep your books upright. Sadly they won’t insert Rick and Morty into your favorite books as if they had been there the whole time, but they will look awesome on your bookshelf.

You can get this set from Boxlunch for about $48. These bookends show the dysfunctional duo entering and exiting a portal in a hurry. Which alternate dimension will they find themselves in? No one knows.

You need these on your bookshelf. Besides what else do you have to do while we are all waiting for the next season of the show? Might as well get yourself a cool set of bookends. Wait. I just thought of something. These guys better not put holes in my books while they run through. If I can’t read my Book of Beer Pong, I’m gonna be pissed.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector’s Box Packed with Goodies, but No Game

It’s been a long wait for fans, but Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally the way. Pre-order bonuses and various editions of the game will be available when the game launches this October, but right now our attention is squarely focused on this Collector’s Box that gives you various a bunch of limited-edition goodies.

Buyers of the RDR2 Collector’s Box will get a Metal Tithing Box with Lock and Key, inspired by the lockbox used by the Van der Linde gang to stash contributions to the camp’s upkeep. It has black metal band detailing and an engraved Cornwall Freight and Commodities plaque on top. There’s also an oversize golden collectable Challenge Coin with an American buffalo on one side and a landscape on the other. The coin comes in a magnetic presentation holder with a black, engraved plaque describing the history of the endangered species.

Next up is a double-sided puzzle if you like putting puzzles together. It is a 100-piece wooden jigsaw puzzle with a view of the port of Saint Denis on one side and a Rockstar Games logo on the reverse. Aside from that, you get a bandana, a treasure map and a pin set that represents weapons from the game.

Still not enough? How about some playing cards a catalog and cigarette cards. Funny thing is, the Collector’s Box does NOT come with the game, and you’ll still need to buy that separately. How hard would it have been for them to throw a download code or a game disc in the box?

Bandai Millennium Falcon Model Is Nearly Screen Accurate

I’ve always wondered what it took to build the actual models used in the original Star Wars franchise. Those original movies looked great and had no computer animation in them. Bandai Hobby is getting ready to release a model kit that is a 1/72-scale Millennium Falcon model that is billed as almost as accurate and precise as those used in the filming.

The model kit is expected to sell for around $400. The rub is that most model kits come unpainted. At the money the kit will sell for, it sure would be nice if it came painted.

The model lights up, and comes with several character figures locked into the seated position. It looks way cooler than that Kenner Falcon I had in the ’80s.

Gudetama Lazy Egg Figurines Lounge on Your Lunch

I don’t always understand Japan and the things they find cool over there. I don’t exactly understand these either, but I think these Gudetama World Tour figures are very cool. They feature Sanrio character Gudetama – a lazy egg basking in one sort of dish or another from around the world.

The ramen figure makes me want noodles something fierce. I especially like the one where the egg is dressed like Mr. Peanut complete with top hat and bow tie. There are eight different figures in all.

The catch is that they are blind-boxed so you don’t know what you will get. I always wonder why someone doesn’t open these blind box figures, mark them up a bit, and sell the exact ones geeks want to you. I guess it’s because collectables are worth more in unopened boxes, but I still find it odd. These goofy collectables are available at ThinkGeek for $10.99 each.
