The magnetic style can be attached to your tools via it’s magnet (obviously) or you can use the clip to attach it to your shirt or hat. The flex band style has silicone bands that wrap around any tool or even one of your fingers. The lights weigh just 0.5 and 0.3 ounces. Harness the power of kinetic energy and light the room. This Hourglass Floor Lamp design by Danielle Trofe is a four foot tall LED lamp atop a rotating hourglass. Flip the lamp over and as the sands drop down, it powers the light. That makes it essentially a human powered lamp- which is part of the design- to put you more in touch with your energy usage. Sand Powered LED Hourglass Lamps
The Philips Hue LED home lighting system allows users to control light wirelessly through an app for smartphones or tablets. The Philips Hue starter pack consists of three LED bulbs and a bridge that can be plugged into a Wi-Fi router. You can download a free app for Apple’s iPhone or iPad. This app enables you to save your favorite light themes for each room, use any photo on your phone as a color palette, create ambience or complement room decorations, monitor lights remotely, and set program timers. While some wouldn't necessarily associate Ikea with eco-friendliness given that its business revolves around plywood, the furniture chain has just staked out a clearer position as a green pioneer. It's phasing out sales of all lighting that isn't LED-based by 2016, making it the first major home furnishing shop with a US presence to entirely banish less efficient illumination. Ikea also wants to take advantage of its economies of scale with the "lowest price on the market" for LEDs, which could shake up an industry where anything beyond incandescent technology usually carries a premium. We'll still have some time to wait for the full switch, but the company at least plans to practice what it preaches by replacing over a million store lights with LEDs -- so those of us with no light replacement plans can still feel as green as the Beddinge Håvet we're taking home.

These stunning Coral Lights from QisDesign are designed to take on the graceful wavelike form of natural coral. The light from the LED bulbs is diffused so that it spreads out even towards the edges of the lamps.
It’s all a bit mesmerizing, in a good way. The design team actually collaborated with the Taiwan National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium to accurately reproduce the shimmering light as would be seen in underwater coral. They come in a variety of colors in table lamps, floor lamps and pendant lamps. (via trendir)
Epic project is epic. Imagine a fully functioning Etch-a-Sketch that uses LED lights as the drawing pixels. That’s what Christopher Monaco did and then he built it. The two dials work just like a regular Etch-a-Sketch and shaking it “erases” the drawing too. As you turn the knobs, it draws a single line drawing using the matrix of LED lights. Sure it’s not as detailed as a real Etch but come on now. Check out the video:
While this is a DIY project, this is clearly for the more advanced as it involves both programming and circuit board/electronics work (using AVR and programming in C). There’s 256 LEDs in the 16×16 matrix that each need to be addressed. If you’re not phased by a photo that looks like this and a line “just connect the wires”

These little stickers might just be the most useful thing we’ve ever posted here. The Light Dims LED Blockers either block or dim (your choice) those bright LED lights now found on every type of electronics under the sun. It comes in two different versions- black out and dim. Each sheet of 100 stickers has various sizes to go right over those annoying LED lights. The dim ones are perfect because you can still see the status lights but they are much dimmer while the blackout ones darken the light completely. Oh snap.. time for our solutions logo:
Get some sleep and stop using black electrical tape! These stickers are removable and won’t leave sticky residue to they are perfect for traveling too- cover up those bright alarm clocks but still keep them plugged in so you wake up.
