It is amazing to realize that Nintendo has never partnered with LEGO. Why? Why? Why? There are so many cool LEGO sets that we are missing out on. Nintendo has a treasure trove of awesome moments that are just begging to be LEGO sets. C’mon guys. Do the right thing and partner up.

Metroid Samus Helmet: Are You Looking at My Headgear, Kraid?

If you want to become galactic bounty hunter, upgrade your noggin with this awesome Metroid Samus helmet. This replica looks authentic and was made by Etsy artist Raptorwithashotgun, who apparently put the shotgun down long enough to create this gaming work of art.

This prop fits most adult heads and has a lot of nice detailing, making it look authentic. It weighs a rather substantial 4 to 5 lbs and the visor is made of plexiglas that has a greenish-yellow tint in regular light and glows bright in the dark. It is perfect for cosplay or to wear for Halloween.

3D Printed Samus Aran Cosplay: MetroiDDD

Three years ago I found my favorite cosplay ever – an incredible take on Cecil’s Dark Knight form. Two years ago RPF forum member Talaaya started work on her Metroid Prime 3 Samus Aran Varia suit. Last week she shared the stunning results. Needless to say, I’ve found a new favorite cosplay.

Like the Cecil costume, part of Talaaya’s armor was 3D printed using her friend’s ZPrinter 450, namely the helmet, the shins, the arms and the arm cannon. She based them on a Garry’s mod 3D file made by Facepunch member medrop. Talaaya made the chest and shoulders out of silicone, and she found a fitting pair of shoes for $20 (USD). She also used electroluminescent tape and a thermoplastic called Worbla. She then used automotive paint to get that awesome sheen.

Here’s a short video of Talaaya in her armor:

Talaaya the costume limits her movement a bit, but I think we can all agree that’s a small price to pay for such an amazing creation.
