I often find myself referring to Seeon 180° as ‘more than a backpack’, and I keep checking myself when I say so… because truth be told, it isn’t really a backpack to begin with. It’s a secure safe you can wear on your back. Designed for a modern age where protecting yourself and your belongings should really be at the forefront, Seeon 180° uses technology to create a secure, portable storage solution. It merely looks like a backpack, but it’s too advanced to really put it in the same category as your simplistic canvas or leather bag.

Perhaps Seeon 180°’s most intriguing and defining feature is its 1080p surveillance camera built into the bag’s back. Engineered to be your third eye as you walk forward, Seeon 180° keeps a lookout for you by constantly scanning what’s happening behind you. It comes coupled with a motion sensor that can even gauge the speed of objects approaching you, letting you be aware of what’s happening behind you so you don’t have to constantly look back to make sure you’re safe. The camera sits discreetly within the bag, is virtually impossible to notice, and sends alerts to your phone. This portable surveillance system is powered by an ARM computer built right into Seeon 180°. Along with being able to ‘see’ what’s behind you, Seeon 180° can sense its own location too.

The backpack (and I use that term out of convenience here) even comes with its own GPS that actively tracks the bag and wearer’s location, serving two broad purposes. In the event of an altercation, the bag can send an SOS alert to an emergency contact, or if the bag gets stolen, it can be tracked in real-time. Among other features, the bag comes with its own ‘taillight’ too, which self-illuminates in the dark. Designed to make it easy to spot at night (so cars, bikes, and pedestrians can avoid you), the LEDs can be controlled via your smartphone too, allowing you to switch them on or off depending on your need.

All of Seeon 180°’s features draw power from its built-in 20,000 mAh power bank, which you can also use to charge your own devices too. The power bank is supplemented by a series of solar panels on the back of Seeon 180°, which means you don’t really need to recharge the backpack too often! A wireless module enables Seeon 180° to connect to your smartphone, and Seeon 180°’s app lets you create custom alerts based on emergencies like assault, theft, or collision. Even if you aren’t staring at your phone’s screen, the backpack’s discreet alarm system can send you vibrations when it senses danger, prompting you to look back and evaluate the situation. In the event that the situation gets out of hand or your bag gets stolen, you can share the bag’s location from within the app too, making it easier to track your backpack as well as your stuff.

Those features, however, tend to distract from Seeon 180°’s most fundamental job of being able to carry your belongings! The Seeon 180° backpack (can we just call it a backsafe?) has a main compartment that’s large enough to securely store your laptop and tablet and some more, while pockets on both the inside as well as outside give you ample organized storage for all your belongings. For a backpack that’s as advanced as Seeon 180°, it’s incredibly stylish too. The entire exterior is crafted from high-quality calfskin leather, with hammered straps, padded back-panel, and even waterproof zippers. It’s no secret that today’s younger generations look at work differently. Just because ‘adulting’ was once equated with a 9-5 office job, it doesn’t mean it still is or that we ever have to lose our own sense of style while working one. Today’s younger generations are geared towards more casual, remote working anyway, workplaces have implemented more transparent and inclusive business models, and employers are steadily recognizing the value in each of their employee’s unique personalities and perspectives. Named after the German word for “young,” the Jung Business Backpack designed by Nicole Nassif was created for the young (or old) professional who wants to show off their personal style inside and outside of the office.

Nassif set out to build a backpack that’s conventional in function, yet unconventional in appearance. The Jung Business Backpack takes care of all the practical needs as your standard business bag. Inside, a padded laptop sleeve protects your personal computer from any potential damage following a fall or drop. Then, an outer sleeve wraps over the backpack’s main zipper, offering an extra buffer against any potential damage and a place to tie any items or carabiners to the outside of your backpack. Nassif stitched accessory pockets to the exterior of the Jung Business Backpack, providing spaces for you to keep your smartphone, stationery, and car keys. Each leather pocket is also given a primary color, answering Nassif’s whimsical blueprint. Plastic bubbles were also sewn into Jung’s outer sleeve to provide an added layer of protection against the elements and theft, keeping your accessories safe inside their bubbles.

Maintaining the backpack’s traditional silhouette, Nassif gave the Jung Business Backpack a rectangular shape, rounding its corners to give it a less rigid form and echo its young personality. Combining playful colors with heavy-duty materials and an overall minimalist personality, Nassif built the Jung Business Backpack to remind us all that work doesn’t have to be so serious all the time.

We all have our own personal checklists while stuffing our backpacks before leaving the house. I know I can’t leave without the paperback I’m currently reading, my writing pad, wallet, point-and-shoot, hand sanitizer, chapstick, keys, cell phone. Fritsch-Durisotti, a creative studio based in Paris, launched their line of backpacks and companion organizers, Fil & Fog so that we can bring our own “little universe of personal items” with us anywhere we go, leaving the hassles of clutter and disorganization at home.

The designers behind Fil & Fog set out to construct a backpack built to last and accompanying organizers that can keep up with our passions, no matter where they might take us. For Fritsch-Durisotti’s Fil & Fog, passion is found in its construction. TPU coating is applied to every backpack and organizer, which enhances both products’ impermeability factors and also allows room for untraditional, but effective textile assembly methods. High-frequency welding, for instance, a plastic welding process that relies on high-frequency electric fields, gives Fil & Fog’s backpack and organizers their high resistance threshold and water-tightness. Elastic bands come with each organizer so that they are completely customizable for each user’s needs – just weave the elastic bands through the laser-cut grids found inside each organizer and store all your items.

Once every organizer is finalized, they easily slip into a Fil & Fog backpack’s bottom compartment, which has enough room to store multiple different sized organizers at once. How Kickstarter provided the perfect launchpad for this innovative modern-day travel backpack

Small companies innovate, large companies acquire. That’s just a fundamental fact when it comes to any industry with big players. Zuckerberg’s only bit of innovation was Facebook. Every single Facebook company we see today – Instagram, Whatsapp, Oculus, etc, was a strategic acquisition. One could say the same with Google. Apart from search, almost every Google product existed independently before it was absorbed by the company. Small companies think big… Large companies just look at the bigger picture.

Innovation practically runs in the blood of Tropicfeel, a 26-person design company based out of Barcelona. Responsible for creating the world’s most funded shoe in 2018, and the second most funded shoe in 2019, Tropicfeel has more than proved that they’ve got the spirit to innovate, as a small, creative, sustainability-driven, and consumer-focused brand. After shipping more than 500,000 shoes to over 142 countries (that’s 75% of the world) in the past couple of years, Tropicfeel decided to shift their gaze to yet another product in the travel-domain that needed their Midas-touch… the modern travel backpack.

If Arya Stark were a backpack, she would probably be the What Pack. Obscure reference? Sure, but it drives home the point I’m trying to make. The What Pack isn’t one backpack… It’s multiple bag-styles built around a backpack’s framework. Featuring a modular setup that lets you replace the backpack’s face to change its visual appeal as well as its function, the What Pack is quite literally the ‘Bag with Many Faces’.

While the swappable face system is What Pack’s most standout feature, it sits on a very reliable base that’s designed to accommodate all your belongings perfectly. The base is a spacious 14L compartment, built to stash all your belongings securely and in dedicated spaces on both the inside and outside. A padded neoprene sleeve fits laptops as large as 16 inches, while additional pockets and pouches let you carry notebooks, A4 folders, tablets, stationery, and other small belongings. Pockets on the outside let you carry items like bottles and umbrellas, while discretely positioned pouches on the base and back let you secure more high-value belongings like cash and cards. The large inner compartment is perfect for everything from clothes to gear, and extension straps help hold all your stuff in place while compressing them to save up on storage space. The base interfaces with the swappable lids using a clamshell opening (which also makes it easy to access your bag’s belongings without having to rummage around) that lets you zip out one lid for another. What Pack’s Monochrome Series features four lid styles that alternate between four different scenarios – Casual, Work, Active, and Travel, covering practically all the bases, and giving you one backpack that carefully considers all your needs.

The four different faces solve their individual purposes with sheer attention to detail. While the Casual face gives your backpack a discreet, no-nonsense appearance, the Work face allows you to carry more, with separate compartments for your work essentials. The Active face is much more suited for trips to the gym, featuring a mesh pouch on the outside for airing out your gym clothes or shoes, while the Travel face gives your backpack an extra 3 liters of storage, bringing the total up to 17L. While the versatility feature is built right into the bag’s design-brief, its durable construction helps it be the versatile backpack you need for everything between work, play, and travel (whether it’s to the outdoors or via flight/transit). The body of the What Pack is made from water-resistant 900D Polyester PU, with an X-Pac VX21 base for added durability and wear-resistance. Water-resistant SBS zippers keep your belongings protected from the elements, and Duraflex hardware ensures your bag’s parts last much longer than the ones found on traditional backpacks. Plus, if you want to know more about how your bag’s built, its details, materials, care-instructions, or updates from the baker, a serialized NFC-chip built into the bag’s top lets you easily tap to access additional information about the What Pack on your NFC-ready smartphone. Inside the Main Chamber

The main compartment consists of one neoprene laptop slot that can fit up to a 16″ MacBook Pro, one document slot that holds A4 papers, one zip pocket that is able to fit an A5 notebook, and two elastic mesh pockets that will fit smaller items such as a mouse, power bank, wet wipes or hand sanitizer.

Lined with a smooth fleece material, you can attach velcro accessories for further customization. There are also six loops (three on each side) that run along the sides of the back panel. These loops work with the extension straps (standard item) to secure loose items when needed.

Serialized NFC Identification Chip
