Snolo Carbon Fiber Sled Hasn’t Got a Motor, But It Sure Looks Fast

Snowmobiles are fun and fast, but when you just want to get down a big snow-covered hill, there’s nothing like a sled. If you’re the kind of speed freak that enjoys going 40mph downhill, then this sled might be for you.

The Snolo Stealth-X Sled might break your bank account, but that’s because it’s made almost completely of carbon fiber. The entire shell is made out of one piece and is contour-molded in the seating area to fit your bum perfectly. It even has a padded back rest to keep you comfortable while you zip along this winter. There’s a single, steerable ski at the front, and two at the back.

The Snolo will give you the maneuverability of a snowboard, and blistering fast downhill speeds – but get ready to cry, because this baby costs a whopping $2,550(USD)!

2014 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse: Lighten up, Lambo!

When you lust after something as exotic as the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, but just aren’t able to spend millions on a hypercar, then I guess you’ll just have to settle for something as mundane as a Gallardo.

lamborghini gallardo lp 570 4 squadra corse

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse is almost identical to the LP 570-4 Super Trofeo, a single-series race car, but it is street legal. Just like the Super Trofeo, the Squadra Corse shares components with the Gallardo Superleggera.

Its 570 hp V10 engine is complemented with a carbon fiber rear wing and removable hood. Thanks to the ample use of this lightweight material, the Squadra Corse weighs 154 lbs less than the LP 560-4.

Interior components have been made from lightweight materials as well including an ample helping of lush Alcantara and more carbon fiber.

Getting to 60 mph takes only 3.4 seconds, and you will hit 124 mph in 10.4 seconds. Its top speed is 199 mph, which should be plenty, especially for a car you can take off of the track.

Stunning Carbon Fiber Bathtub/Hammock Is The Only Way We’ll Get Clean, From Now On

carbon-fiber-bathtub-1

The sad thing about opulence is that once you’ve experienced it, it’s hard to go back. And while we haven’t had the pleasure to actually soak in the above bathtub, the Vessel, by British company Splinterworks, the expression “ignorance is bliss” sure seems to apply in this case; we were better off not even knowing such a beauty even existed. Made entirely out of carbon fiber with a foam core, the 2.7m (8.8ft.) tub looks like a hammock, hangs from the wall and drains into a specially made opening underneath it. “Pictured here in black, it also available in red, blue, yellow, pink, bronze and pure silver.” Price is mentioned nowhere on the website, but we suspect that sticker shock on this would be a couple orders of magnitude higher than your typical luxury bathroom furnishing.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento: Hypercar Track Day Dreams

Lightweight carbon fiber is a must on any so-called “hypercar,” but what about a car that was named after the element carbon itself? How does it stack up against the rarefied competition? You needn’t worry, because it will probably smoke any other car away, thanks to its awesome power-to-weight ratio.

lamborghini sesto elemento hypercar

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento’s name simply means “sixth element” in Italian, and it’s a two-door, two-seater, lightweight limitededition hypercar. Naturally, it makes extensive use of carbon fiber. Its chassis, body, drive shaft, and suspension are made out of the durable, lightweight stuff. The whole car weighs an astonishingly light 999kg (2,200 lbs), which is comparable to a subcompact car like the Honda Fit.

The car has an all-wheel-drive system, which is mated to a 5.2L V10 engine generating 578 HP. The six-speed, semi-automatic transmission comes with paddle shifters, of course.

All of this engineering helps the Sesto Elemento go from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds. Holy speed demons, Batman, better hold onto your shorts!

The Roost! The Roost! The Roost is a Laptop Stand

Years of hunching over his laptop took its toll on James Olander. He claims that the damage on his nerves reached an extent that he was advised by his doctors to lay off laptops or he might not be able to type again. Fortunately, James is an engineer. So he designed a laptop stand that can help him and the millions of other people who have hunchedoverlaptoposis. Or whatever its medical name is.

James calls his laptop stand The Roost. There are hundreds of different laptop stands already on the market, so why would you want The Roost? It’s not on fire, but there are three things that make The Roost stand out. First is the sheer height at which it can raise a laptop:

Here’s another shot that shows just how high it raises the screen:

Unless everything else in the image above is really tiny, I’d say that the MacBook Air is at or maybe even above eye level there. The second advantage of The Roost over other stands is that it folds into a very compact shape. Finally, The Roost is made of carbon fiber and a flexible and durable plastic, making it strong enough to support up to 200lb. even though it only weighs 5oz.

Pledge at least $65 (USD) on Kickstarter to get The Roost as a reward. You can check its official website for the list of compatible laptops.

Alpaca Carbon Fiber Guitar Is Designed to Let You Rock out Anywhere

I’m not a musician. I never learned to play the guitar, although I tried when I was a kid. When I couldn’t go from beginner to full-on rock star in a month I gave it up. But despite my lack of musical ability, one thing I do know is that guitars can be pretty easily broken. If you’re the sort of person that likes to travel off the beaten path and keep your guitar handy, a fragile wooden guitar can be a problem. This is where a company called Alpaca steps in with its durable Carbon Fiber Travel Guitar.

Not only is carbon fiber lightweight, it’s also incredibly strong allowing the guitar to go anywhere the musician might want with the ability to withstand elements. In addition to carbon fiber, the guitar is created from flax fabric, and bio-derived resins.

Alpaca promises that this combination of materials creates an incredibly strong instrument that still offers a brilliant resonant sound. The guitar also has an embedded daisychain on the back giving a universal attachment to any of your outdoor gear, and its strap is made from rugged paracord. The Alpaca Guitar is built in the United States and will cost you $575(USD).

The only downside is that you can’t smash this thing on stage.

Carbon Fiber Flask Is Infused With Extra Manly

carbon-fiber-flask

Oakley has teamed up with Scotch maker The Macallan to create the flask you see above.

Made with food-grade steel, carbon fiber and aerospace-grade aluminum, The Flask is more than a vessel; it’s a statement. By blending Oakley’s military and industrial design overtones with the subtle flavors and aromas of The Macallan’s world-class single malt whisky, The Flask is showpiece with complete utility.

A rubberized bottom for non-skid grip and a small rectangular air vent on the side of the funnel to allow for ventilation prove that this vessel is made to be used, shared and enjoyed. The Flask’s cap is double sprung to allow for effortless drinking, so it maintains an appropriate distance from the mouthpiece when in use for optimum enjoyment and allows for smooth open and close action. Its machined aluminum funnel, designed to securely thread into the mouthpiece, reduces the chance of spillage.

That’s some serious flask, with a serious price tag. In the UK and the rest of the world, the limited edition 100 units will sell for $900. But if you have the fortune/misfortune of living in the USA, you’re going to have to shell out $1,500 for this. Granted, that sum also buys you a whole set that includes a bottle of oak-aged, 22 year-old The Macallan scotch.

And if you had any doubts about the testosterone infused marketing angle the companies are going for, just hit the jump to watch a hot-rod and supercar filled commercial where The Flask is torture tested in what looks like an abandoned airstrip.

The Story Of The Stormtropper Carbon Fiber Helmet

Screen Shot 2013-02-18 at 11.42.24 PM

Back in 2011, Leonard Carson, an engineering technician for San Diego Composites, decided he wanted to make a Stormtrooper outfit out of carbon fiber. Seeing as his company had the materials needed, he convinced three of his co-workers to embark on the project with him. With the blessings of the company’s president, they finally created some decidedly eye-catching outfits which went viral when initially revealed online. Fast forward a year. A company called CarbonFiberGear managed to acquire a helmet from one of the four engineers, and they went on Pawn Stars to see if they could sell it. Pawn Stars being what it is, they walked away from the offer. They didn’t want to hold on to it though, so up on their website it went, and they did finally manage to sell it, for $3,500.

So that means that you can’t buy it. The three other helmets still belong to the guys who made them, and are not for sale. Maybe the person who bought it will put it back on the market, maybe not. Meanwhile, you can look at pretty pictures. A bunch more after the jump.
