How are you wakin’? Are you wakin’ to bacon? Bacon shakin’? Ain’t no fakin’ with the Wakin Shakin Bacon Alarm Clock. This dancing meat raps and sizzles a song about how much he loves bacon. And why wouldn’t he? He IS bacon. Even bacon loves bacon. And wakin’- you up.

CHARLI-2 Robot Dances Gangnam Style
Yeah, yeah, dancing robots are a dime a dozen. But CHARLI-2 here isn’t a $50 desk toy from Japan, it’s Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering’s Robotics and Mechanisms Laboratory darling, and the U.S. Navy’s “forerunner for creating a Shipboard Autonomous Firefighting Robot (SAFFiR) that could work with human sailors to battle fires aboard warships at sea.” This little guy’s got some serious tech on him, but in the video above, no one really cares. CHARLI-2 puts the moves on to a little tune known as Gangnam Style… maybe you guys have heard of it? (please note sarcasm) Anyway, it’s fun to watch. And as a top comment on that video says, “I thought Humans dancing like robots wre cool, but robots dancing like humans is the new thing.”
By the way, that song’s up to 532 million views. That’s… just nuts.

U.S. Navy Robot Dances Gangnam Style: PSYBot
You might know CHARLI-2 as Virginia Tech’s five-foot tall humanoid robot who is designed to be a firefighting robot. What you probably didn’t know is that this bot can also dance to Gangnam Style.
He’s so good at it because he was designed for ships are filled with “knee-knocker” passageways, ladders and steps. Basically, this guy can get around and get out of your way. So now CHARLI-2 can add dancing to K-Pop to his list of accomplishments, which include being a repeat champion at the RoboCup robotics awards for two years running for instance.
Forget defending our watery borders or fighting pirates. It seems that the Navy is more interested in making robots dance. That’s fine with me. If they are getting their groove on, they aren’t killing anyone.

Shimi Music Robot is Ready to Rock Your World
I’m not a huge fan of desktop toys that flap around and play music, as they tend to get on my nerves quickly. I blame Big Mouth Billy Bass for this. But I’m actually kind of enamored of this new robot which can dance and get its groove on to your music.
Tovbot’s Shimi works as a dock for your Android- or iOS-powered smartphone, providing interactivity, ranging from the aforementioned music-groovin’ to interacting with passersby. For instance, it can recognize faces and words, or pick a song to play based on the tune your tap out for it. Here’s some footage of Shimi getting his groove on:
I particularly like how Shimi’s ears are actually the speakers – I think that’s a clever and endearing design touch. At this point, Shimi is still in the development stages, but will retail for $199 (USD) when its released sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Kinect Star Wars’ “I’m Han Solo” Dance… I Have a Bad Feeling About This Game
Ever since the Kinect Star Wars game’s Galactic Dance Off mode was announced, we’ve had reason to worry about this title. While I love the idea of tearing up the streets of Tatooine as the Rancor, I knew that it would be bad after I saw Slave Leia dancing and then Stormtroopers. It actually gets even more ridiculous.
Check out the “I’m Han Solo,” Kinect Star Wars dance. Is it the best thing or the worst thing ever? I don’t know anymore. I almost prefer Lucas endlessly tinkering with the movies to this mockery of everything that I love.
WTF?!?! Han Solo and Lando are dancing with Imperial officers. In Cloud City. Lobot is the DJ. Am I in the Twilight Zone? This game just isn’t right. Please make it stop. I’ll even buy the movies on Blu-Ray. In 3D. With extra Jar-Jar. Just please, no more of this.
