Sleeveballoon Promises to Treat Diabetes and Obesity

Researchers have discovered a new device that could be surgically inserted into the bodies of people who suffer from both diabetes and obesity. This new device produces excellent results in reducing body weight, eliminating fatty liver and control blood sugar levels. In short, Sleeveballoon seems to be the perfect device to treat obesity and diabetes at the same time. The results of the device’s effects were published in the EBioMedicine journal. The study involved comparing the effects of traditional bariatric surgery with Sleeveballoon on 30 rodents who were fed with a high-fat diet.

Diabetes causes immense distress to patients and caregivers

Type II diabetes is one of the most stubborn medical conditions that result in enormous distress and medical expenses. Obesity is closely linked with acquiring diabetes, and doctors often advise their patients to lose their weight using various methods. For people who are unable to lose weight easily, bariatric surgery is an option. However, the surgery is complicated and can be quite invasive. Sleeveballoon mimics the effects of bariatric surgery but requires only a minimally invasive procedure.

How does Sleeveballoon work?

  • Sleeveballoon is a sleeve which is connected to a balloon that covers the small intestine.
  • The balloon covers the initial parts of the small intestine and results in reduced appetite
  • The patient is given general anesthesia while the balloon is inserted into the body.
  • It is a minimally invasive procedure that is not as risky as traditional bariatric surgery is.
  • Sleeveballoon helps control hunger and appetite, resulting in a sense of fullness.

The study’s results were made public by Geltrude Mingrone, who is a professor at the King’s College, London. Professor Mingrone revealed that very few people are offered bariatric surgery as an option, and even those who are offered the option reject it because of the risks and invasiveness of the procedure. Diet alone cannot control obesity or blood sugar levels in some people. These patients, according to the professor, can benefit from Sleeveballoon and look forward to a healthy and diabetes-free life.

Is Sleeveballoon available now?

At the moment, the device is not available in the market. Researchers are working on bringing the device to the medical market so that a doctor near you can help you tackle both obesity and diabetes. If you are currently experiencing health issues, do not forget to seek the advice of your regular physician and follow the doctor’s advice. After all, a number of treatments are researched upon and until clinical research takes place successfully on humans, one needs to continue with the existing treatments.

Oppo Reno Ace Is the World’s Fastest Charging Phone

Oppo just announced Opportunity Reno Ace, which comes with a 65W fast-charging technology that isn’t found on other devices. In fact, the device is the world’s fastest charging smartphone. The Reno Ace comes with a 65W GaN charger that can be used with laptops that support USB-C chargers.

There is something truly annoying about having to worry about cellphone battery capacity, especially when we are not at home. With most of using applications to hook up with people nearby and to look for landmarks, not having enough battery on our cellphones can feel paralyzing. While iPhone 11 claims to last longer than most Android phones in the market, the truth of the matter is neither the iPhone nor the existing Android devices last satisfactorily long. In addition, every device takes a long time to charge and we simply don’t have that kind of patience anymore.

What are Oppo Reno Ace’s other unique features?

Fast charging isn’t the only admirable feature of the Oppo Reno Ace. Here are some of the most impressive features of the world’s fast charging cellphone:

  • Comes with a Snapdragon 855+ chip that makes everything super-fast
  • A choice of 8GB or 12 GB memory, which is enough for most heavy-duty gaming and processing
  • A choice of 128 or 256 GB of fast UFS 3.0 storage
  • 6.5 inches Full HD display
  • In-display fingerprint sensor
  • Sony 48-megapixel primary sensor dazzles your photographic skills

The smartphone is also stylish to look at and is a great gadget to purchase if you would like to impress your friends. After all, one needs to purchase something that doubles up as an eye candy, especially when one is spending a decent amount on it.

What it might cost outside China

The 8GB/128GB combo costs $420 in China and the 12GB/256GB version costs $530. It is not clear when these devices will be available in other countries, and if there will be a price difference when they finally go up on sale in these markets. However, as with most Oppo products, they should be available in a few weeks across the world after the initial launch in China. Once you lay your hands on this phone, do let us know if fast-charging feature was enough to make you switch over completely to this model, or you decided to go back to your old smartphone.

Best Upcoming Smartphones of 2017

Smartphones never stop evolving. New innovations are being implemented almost every day. The headphone jack is slowly bidding goodbye. The fingerprint scanner is going to move under the display. And talking about the display, the bezels are constantly shrinking.

The internal hardware is being upgraded to monumental proportions and now, we even have phones with 8GB of RAM. 2017 is going to be a rocking year, in terms of the dynamic environment of smartphones. Here are the Best Upcoming Smartphones of 2017.

OnePlus 5

This has to be the most awaited smartphone of 2017. OnePlus 3 was just so successful that it received nearly perfect ratings from major critics. The 3T was just as successful and the Midnight Black variant sold out within no time. OnePlus 5 is coming out on June 22nd and almost all the specs have been confirmed. The CEO of the company has been putting the camera in the limelight and we are expecting some gorgeous looking shots from the dual cameras at the rear. Under the hood, we have the Snapdragon 835 along with a whopping 8GB of RAM. The 5.5-inch FullHD optic AMOLED display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There are two 16MP cameras at the rear and an 8MP selfie shooter at the front. The one thing that slightly concerns me is that the phone looks a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus.

If you’re in India, you can get the device on June 22 at 4:30PM.

Google Pixel XL2

Image via: phonearena

The successors to the Google Pixel has been supposedly canceled. But Google is working on a larger phablet and it is said to be the Google Pixel XL2. The specs of the phone have been confirmed through a GFXBench listing. It will obviously have the Snapdragon 835 under the hood along with a modest 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The rear camera is given as a 12MP shooter, but it will most probably flaunt a dual camera setup. The front camera is an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone will be made by LG.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

Image via: fonearena

Xiaomi Mi Mix brought out one of the most revolutionary designs in smartphone history. The near bezel less display and a screen to body ratio of 91% were just extraordinary. The phone uses a ceramic design with built-in speakers and sensors that work brilliantly well. The successor to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has just been confirmed by CEO Lei Jun and it will arrive this year. The phone will use the same ceramic design but we have a curved display in the offing. The bezels will also get narrower and the screen to body ratio is expected to reach 93%. If all this is true, we should have a beast of a smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy Note8

Image via: m.sohu.com

Samsung Galaxy Note7 was one of the best smartphones in the world and people still have the same opinion about it. But we all know what happened with the Note7 with all the explosions and stuff. It cost Samsung billions of dollars but they’ve come back strongly with the S8 and S8+. After the huge success of these two smartphones, Samsung wants to continue their dream run with the Note8. The phablet is rumored to be the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 836. It is also said to come with a 5.7-inch or 6.3-inch Infinite Display along with a dual 13MP rear camera.

Nokia 9

Image via: phoneworld

This should’ve happened years ago, but Nokia is coming out with some great devices this year. They already launched the Nokia 3310, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. Even though the Nokia 6 is the most expensive of the lot, it features decent specifications with one shortcoming, a lackluster chipset. But the built quality is just amazing and the camera produces some great shots. Most of the people are now waiting for the flagship which will be called Nokia 9. It is expected to come with the latest Snapdragon 835 along with 6GB of RAM and a 5.3-inch Quad HD display. It will also flaunt the mandatory dual cameras at the rear with a pair of 13MP shooters.

LG V30

Image via: gizbot

I have said this time and again but I will repeat it nevertheless. LG V20 is the most underrated flagship of 2016. It is built extremely well, has some serious firepower under the hood and comes with an amazing set of cameras. The secondary display is quite handy but is not very useful, but I personally love it. They should probably move it to the bottom, because it is quite hard to access it on a 5.7-inch smartphone, even for a person with large hands like me. The successor of the LG v20, the V30, is expected to arrive this year with the Snapdragon 836, just like the Galaxy Note8. It will mostly feature the secondary display as well as the dual cameras with the professional features like its predecessor.

iPhone 8

Image via: bgr.com

Last, but not the least, we have the one and only iPhone 8 and this time it is going to be big. The latest and greatest iPhone yet will feature almost all of the trending features of 2017. The phone is said to have dual rear cameras, a touchscreen that spans the entire front portion and also a sleek build. That is not all. Apple has filed for patents with regard to the TouchID that will be allegedly present under the display. It is alleged that the screen will scan the fingerprint of the person using the phone and will lock the device if it doesn’t match with the owner’s fingerprint. If this turns out to be true, Apple will not have any trouble in gaining the top position on sales charts.

Say Hello to Jelly, World’s Smallest 4G Smartphone

Jelly - World's Smallest 4G SmartphoneJelly - World's Smallest 4G Smartphone

Unihertz, the maker of Jelly, world’s smallest 4G smartphone is trying to bring back the times when manufacturers weren’t incrementing the size of their devices year by year. Will it succeed, though?

Smartphones have become indispensable pieces of technology, and that also stands in underdeveloped countries. Users who can’t afford buying the latest and the greatest flagships often have to make compromises in terms of hardware or OS. Jelly is here to do away with such compromises, while also taking home the title of the world’s smallest 4G smartphone.

While some of the recent offerings give people trouble fitting them in any pocket, Jelly is happy to call the small pocket of your jeans – home. Read on to find out what else sets Jelly apart from the crowd!

Specifications

At a first glance, Jelly seems to have been created for a female audience, since its design could be characterized as “small and cute.” Despite measuring only 92.3mm x 43mm x 13.3mm, this smartphone is quite capable, being able to please a far wider audience. Not only does it feature a quad-core CPU running at 1.1Ghz, but it also includes gyroscope, compass and GPS sensors, so you can run all sorts of apps. Jelly has two cameras, a 2MP one in the front and an 8MP in the back. As for the display, it measures 2.45-inch across and has a resolution of 240×432 pixels. That’s not extraordinary, but for a backup 4G smartphone, it’s more than just enough.

Two versions of Jelly will be available, the only difference between them being the amount of RAM and storage.

Image via: kickstarter

The regular Jelly comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, while Jelly Pro doubles both values. In terms of colors, both versions will be available in Pearl White, Sky Blue and Space Black.

Image via: kickstarter

Jelly’s battery manages to surprise, as well. According to the manufacturer, the 950mAh that it packs should be able to keep the smartphone up and running for up to 3 days. The standby time, on the other hand, is of up to 7 days.

Image via: kickstarter

These numbers are particularly great if you intend to use Jelly as a lightweight backup phone, and not as your main one. On top of all that, this smartphone has a replaceable battery, something that other manufacturers seem to have forgotten how to do.

Under the battery, Jelly packs three slots – two for nano SIM cards working on 12 different LTE bands, and one for microSD. Given the latter, the device’s storage can be expanded by up to 256GB. Since it most certainly features a 3.5mm jack, that means you’ll be able to take a rather impressive music library with you wherever you go.

Image via: kickstarter

One of the most impressive feats is that Jelly will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. That’s something that even established phone makers have a hard time doing. Unihertz claims that it will be capable to run any app, but in all fairness, there are some that demand a screen resolution higher than Jelly’s.

Price and Availability

Jelly is currently featured on Kickstarter, where Unihertz intended to raise $30,000 to bring it into mass production. Given the novelty factor, it really shouldn’t surprise anyone that the campaign raised more than 20 times that amount since it started. In fact, the project reached the funding goal in 57 minutes, and ten times that 48 hours and 3,000+ backers later. According to Kicktraq, if the current average daily pledges stay like that, the campaign is trending towards an amount of $2.6M, which is crazy to think of.

In terms of pricing, Jelly starts at $79 for the Kickstarter Special, while the Jelly Pro is $95. Various packages containing two, three or even ten smartphones can be secured by pledging the respective amounts. People wanting an extra battery will have to pledge $9 more, while an armband and case such as the ones pictured above require an additional pledge of $10. The smartphone can be ordered in any of the three available colors and will be shipped in August 2017. If you’re looking to own Jelly, world’s smallest 4G smartphone, your only worry remains, naturally, not to lose it.

Amazon Launches Echo Look to Improve Everybody’s Style

Amazon Echo LookAmazon Echo Look

The Seattle-based e-tailer has added a new member to its line of smart assistants. Echo Look, as the new product is called, combines information delivered by Alexa with custom recommendations on what to wear.

Before going out, you might want to ask Alexa about what the weather will be like. You might even tell her to turn the light on, to see yourself better in the mirror as you try out various outfits. But what if Alexa would be able to “see” what you’re wearing and suggest changes for a more fashionable outcome? Echo Look’s hands-free camera can help you do just that!

The gadget is advertised as a hands-free camera and style assistant, but it packs so much more.

Presentation

Echo Look is quite different from its other family members, sporting a mostly white body and a black interface. Besides the speaker and microphone array that are also seen in the traditional Echo, the Look also includes a button that switches off the camera and the microphone, a hands-free camera that can take 5 MP head-to-toe photos of you, as well as a standard tripod socket.

There’s a wall mount included in the kit, and that’s where the tripod socket might come in handy. As for the resolution, Echo Look is a bit ahead of the Nest Cam, which only sports a 3-megapixel sensor. Being a security camera, the Nest Cam is also capable of recording footage in the dark. Echo Look serves somewhat of a different purpose, and as such, doesn’t need night-vision.

The hardware is by no means extraordinary, so the main difference in price is determined by Echo Look’s software.

Functionality

Since the main player here is the hands-free camera, it’s rather intuitive that it can work using voice commands addressed to Alexa. The companion app that Amazon developed for the Echo Look is able to analyze your style

Whether the Echo Look will be as popular as the original Echo or will go the way of Amazon’s Fire phone remains to be seen. So far, people’s reactions are mixed, as some look at the device as something that will become indispensable, while others point out ironically that a camera and a mic that are always on are exactly what they wanted in their homes. A verdict can only be given after Amazon releases the device to the masses, which is something nobody knows when and if it’s going to happen.

Will Echo Look blow everyone’s minds with its accurate recommendations, or will it refuse to open the pod bay doors? It remains to be seen.

See What Matters with Echo Look’s Computer Vision-Based Background Blur

Is your room a bit of a mess, but could still use some advice from Alexa? Echo Look employs computer vision-based background blur so that only you are clearly visible, front and center.

To shoot photos or record videos of your outfit, you only need to say “Alexa, take a picture” or “Alexa, take a video.”

Compare Different Outfits with Style Check

Echo Look doesn’t only assist you with recommendations and recordings of your various outfits. It can also help you compare them.

Style Check, as this feature is called, relies on advanced machine learning algorithms and advice from fashion specialists to determine which outfit suits you best. The parameters taken into account include fit, color, styling, and current trends. In other words, a comparison can be made even if you only change your shoes. Your feedback, along with continuous input from fashion experts will help Style Check to become better and better over time.

Price and Purchasing Options

At the moment, Amazon’s Echo Look is available exclusively by invitation and costs $199. The product page features a “Request Invitation” button. Upon pressing it, you’re told that confirmation will arrive via email if selected.

This model was also used on the full-fledged Amazon Echo, the mini Echo Dot, and the battery-powered Amazon Tap. However, only for the first two, there was an overwhelming demand. If Echo Look is received positively by the first lucky buyers, there’s no doubt that the e-tailer will make purchasing possible for the public.

iPhone 8 Dummy Model Leaked Edge-to-Edge Display, Invisible TouchID

iPhone 8 Dummy ModeliPhone 8 Dummy Model

It’s a new day and we have a brand new leak of the alleged iPhone 8. This time it is a dummy model of the iPhone 8 straight out of the CNC machine according to Benjamin Geskin. He has brought out quite a lot of photos and all of them look very interesting. Many of the purported features are present and it looks more like the Anniversary Edition. A lot of us are expecting a revolutionary design change from Apple while still sticking to the roots in some aspects. Let’s take a look at the dummy model in detail and all of the features of the alleged iPhone 8.

The most striking feature from the leaked pictures is the edge-to-edge display. This is a true edge-to-edge display and not just on the sides. It covers all the four edges are the bezels are really narrow. A very ambitious feature is the presence of the earpiece cutout right on the display. This might be an early design prototype that Apple disregarded, but it looks stunning nevertheless.

Another major feature that will be present on the iPhone 8 is the brand new TouchID under the display. There is no physical TouchID like the previous generations of iPhones and this will be directly integrated into the display. There is no clue out there on how Apple is planning to implement this technology. But it will surely rock the entire world if they do manage to pull it off.

It is rumored that the iPhone 8 will use a vertical setup for their dual cameras and it is seen clearly on this dummy model as well. Benjamin Geskin later uploaded a few renders of the models and they look mesmerizing. He has also uploaded a schematic of the motherboard layout with 70% accuracy. Maybe he isn’t very sure about it or maybe he has taken references from the previous models, we don’t know.

A metal frame surrounds the entire phone and this looks more like brushed aluminum which won’t add a lot of weight. The right hand side houses the power button which looks a bit longer now along with the SIM tray. The left side has the usual stuff, the volume rockers and the mute switch. The CNC dummy models don’t have the Apple logo at the rear and this is an indication that this might’ve been an early production model or initial prototype that they might’ve considered.

We still don’t have any concrete evidence as to what the iPhone 8 will look like or the plethora of features that it will possess. Until then, stay tuned to our site and check out other rumors of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone Anniversary Edition.
