Twelve South PlugBug Chargers Hands-On at IFA: The World’s Only Chargers with Apple’s Find My feature

Remember when Apple debuted the Apple TV remote without a Find My feature and the internet collectively groaned because losing your TV remote is perhaps the single biggest cliche as far as remote controllers go? Well, here’s a similar situation – imagine losing the charger to your phone or laptop. I’m sure it’s happened to you multiple times (it literally happened to me today)… and while I don’t recommend waiting for Apple to build the Find My feature into their chargers, I really don’t need to because Twelve South beat them to it. The world’s first (and so far only) charging bricks with their own tracking chip, the Twelve South PlugBug chargers made their first appearance at IFA today. Designed to be compact, colorful, powerful, and trackable, these charging bricks are the perfect accessory for the absent-minded tech-user. Imagine misplacing your charger in a crowded cafe, at work, or under the bed at home; with Find My, you can locate it just like you would an AirTag. That’s what Twelve South brings to the table with the PlugBug 50 and the more robust PlugBug 120.

The PlugBug series comes in 2 models – the smaller 50W charger, and a larger 120W charger with replaceable heads for international travel. The smaller PlugBug 50 has a 50W output (as its name suggests) and offers dual USB-C ports, perfect for powering up your iPhone and iPad simultaneously. It’s designed to slide into your daily routine with ease, packing just enough power to handle multiple devices without taking up much space in your bag, or behind your couch.

The PlugBug 120, on the other hand, is a multi-port powerhouse with 120W of total output, enough to charge a MacBook Pro, an iPad, and two more devices—all at once. With four USB-C ports, it’s ideal for those juggling multiple gadgets, whether you’re working from a coffee shop or charging up in a hotel room. Twelve South deliberately ditched the USB-A ports for these plugs, keeping things modern and up-to-date. The standout feature, however, is the interchangeable plug heads for different regions. Whether you’re hopping between the US, UK, or Europe, the PlugBug 120 has you covered with its international plug options. It’s a simple yet effective solution for people who often find themselves digging through a bag of adapters just to get their gear charged abroad.

But what sets both chargers apart from your standard USB-C bricks is their integration with Apple’s Find My network. Misplaced your charger? No problem. You can track it via the Find My app, and yes, this even works when the charger is offline. Unlike most gadgets you lose in your daily hustle, the PlugBug can be tracked just like an AirTag. It’s a feature that’s becoming increasingly valuable as we juggle more devices in our connected lives. Due to electrical regulations, the Find My feature is powered by a tiny, replaceable battery instead of being directly connected to the plug itself (you’ll need to swap it out every year or so). This simultaneously ensures that Find My works even if the charger isn’t plugged in.

The design of both chargers doesn’t stray too far from what we’ve come to expect from Twelve South—clean, minimal, and functional. The foldable prongs on both models make them super portable, while the compact design ensures they fit into tight spots, whether at home or in cramped outlets on the road. They’re also a combination of white and bright red, so don’t worry about not spotting the charger from a mile away. If the charger does become difficult to find, the Find My is a pretty cool add-on.

As for pricing, the PlugBug 50 will run you $69.99, while the PlugBug 120 is priced at $119.99—not exactly impulse buys, but reasonable for what they offer, especially if you factor in the peace of mind that comes with never losing your charger again. Both models are expected to hit shelves by mid-September 2024.

Given how losing a charger can often feel like losing a limb, the PlugBug lineup offers a bit of relief—and a clever way to keep your tech life on track. Just remember to check Find My before you accuse the couch of eating your charger.

Sharge Forged Carbon Fiber Series Hands-On at IFA 2024: Power Banks with an Aerospace-grade Touch

At IFA 2024, where the latest and greatest in tech innovation often compete for attention, Sharge made its mark by introducing the Forged Carbon Fiber Series. Known for creating high-performance portable power solutions, Sharge’s new lineup captured the spotlight not only for its charging capabilities but also for its striking design. This collection, featuring the CarbonMag 10K MagSafe Power Bank, and the CarbonMag 5K MagSafe Power Bank, merges utility with premium materials, offering a standout option for those who demand both function and form from their tech accessories.

Forged Carbon Fiber: A Distinctive Edge

The use of forged carbon fiber in Sharge’s latest series is a significant design decision. Forged carbon fiber is a material associated with luxury and high-performance industries, such as motorsports and aerospace. It is strong, lightweight, and gives the devices a unique, patterned aesthetic. Unlike traditional woven carbon fiber, forged carbon is formed through a random compression process, resulting in each power bank featuring its own distinct, marble-like texture.

This design choice isn’t purely cosmetic. The forged carbon fiber exterior provides durability and resistance to everyday wear and tear. Whether you’re commuting daily or traveling, the rugged construction ensures that the power bank can handle a few bumps along the way without compromising its sleek appearance.

CarbonMag 10K: Lightweight Powerhouse

The CarbonMag 10K is the heavy hitter of the series, boasting a 10,000mAh capacity wrapped in a carbon fiber shell that offers both durability and portability. Its use of carbon fiber not only enhances its structural integrity but also keeps the device extremely light—perfect for users constantly on the move. The lightweight design makes it easy to carry without adding significant weight to your bag, while the carbon fiber’s unique texture gives it a modern, premium feel.

On the connectivity front, the CarbonMag 10K supports fast charging through its USB-C ports, ensuring your devices can charge quickly, whether it’s a phone, tablet, or even some laptops. With up to 22.5W output via USB-A and 20W via USB-C, the 10K keeps you powered throughout the day. The CarbonMag 10K also incorporates Qi2 wireless charging, allowing compatible devices to juice up without needing a cable. This feature is a great addition for those with wireless charging-enabled devices, especially if you often forget cables or simply want a cleaner charging setup.

The power bank’s focus on durability extends to its internal battery tech. It uses high-efficiency battery cells that are designed for longevity, supporting multiple charge cycles without significant degradation. SHARGE also integrated intelligent charging protection, ensuring your devices don’t overheat or suffer from voltage irregularities during the charging process.

CarbonMag 5K: Ultra-portable Everyday Charger

For those prioritizing portability, SHARGE’s CarbonMag 5K hits the sweet spot. With its 5,000mAh capacity, this model is geared towards users who need a quick top-up without carrying a bulkier device. The ultra-slim design makes it incredibly easy to slip into a pocket or purse, a major advantage when you’re traveling light. Despite its smaller size, the 5K shares the same carbon fiber build as its bigger sibling, offering the same lightweight strength.

While the 5K’s charging capacity is lower than the 10K, it’s still capable of fast charging. It features the same 20W output via USB-C, making it a solid option for anyone looking to quickly charge their smartphone or other small devices. Although it doesn’t support wireless charging, it makes up for it with its extremely portable profile. The compact design paired with carbon fiber construction ensures that this power bank remains durable even with frequent use.

Shared Features: Strength and Style

Both models in the CarbonMag series share a focus on high performance wrapped in sleek carbon fiber exteriors. The material choice is key to the series’ identity—it’s not just about looking good; it’s about offering real-world durability. Carbon fiber, known for being lightweight yet incredibly strong, provides a distinct advantage over traditional plastic or metal builds. This also makes these power banks stand out among competitors, many of whom still use bulkier or heavier materials.

Additionally, SHARGE’s attention to user safety is reflected in both models’ built-in safety protocols, which protect against overcharging, overheating, and short circuits. This is particularly important for users who might charge multiple devices frequently or leave their power bank plugged in for extended periods.

A Smart Choice for All Users

The CarbonMag 10K and CarbonMag 5K are designed to meet different needs without sacrificing style or strength. The 10K is ideal for heavy users who need multiple device charges in one go, while the 5K is the perfect companion for day trips or short outings when you just need a quick boost.

SHARGE’s presence at IFA 2024 demonstrated the brand’s ambition to push the boundaries of portable power solutions. By combining the strength and lightness of carbon fiber with advanced charging tech, the CarbonMag series delivers a sleek and functional option for modern users. Whether you’re looking for a power bank that can handle a weekend’s worth of charging or something that fits in your pocket, SHARGE seems to have struck a balance between utility and style. Now, the only challenge left is choosing which one to carry—though at this rate, maybe you’ll want both.

Galaxy Book5 Pro 360: Samsung’s AI-Powered Convertible Laptop with Lunar Lake and 25-Hour Battery

Come IFA 2024 and the race for the next generation Copilot+ PCs has kicked off. While Asus has showcased its portfolio of technologically advanced laptops, Samsung is keeping it low-key. The South Korean tech giant has introduced its debut entrant – Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 – into the Copilot+ PCs arena through a blog post.

Why has Samsung refrained from showcasing the thin, lightweight, and highly powerful laptop at the IFA is anybody’s guess, but from what the blog post reveals, the Book5 Pro definitely has an OLED display and a battery life to win more customers than the predecessors would have. Considering the fact that the laptop will be available only in select markets – France, Germany, the UK and the US per se – at launched later this month, the initial sales may not be clear indicators, the numbers would likely rise as and when the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 goes on sale in other parts of the world.

Designer: Samsung

AI-focused Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 is powered by an Intel Core 7 Ultra Series 2 processor, which would provide the next level of computing prowess to this convertible laptop. Offered with a 16-inch OLED display, that can rotate a full 360 degrees, the laptop comes with an S Pen to ensure you can use it as a Windows tablet when you need it.

So, instead of just being a game-changing laptop, the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360, of course, is an undeniable tablet as well. Adding to it is its 10-point multi-touchscreen display that touts 3K super-resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Despite its large 16-inch form factor, the convertible laptop weighs only 1.69kg and measures roughly 12.8mm at the thickest point.

Besides the immaculate display and the incredible computing power – thanks to its 200V Lunar Lake Intel processor that provides the laptop with 47 TOPS (trillion operations per second) of NPU (neural processing unit) power, which qualifies the system for the Copilot+ PC branding – it also impresses with its battery life. Interestingly, the Book5 Pro 360 comes with a 76Wh battery that powers up using a 65W USB-C adapter and can easily last up to 25 hours of video playback blasting out through its Dolby Atmos quad speakers.

Samsung provides the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM paired with a choice of 512GB or 1TB NVMe SSD. For connectivity, this slim laptop accommodates a HDMI 2.1 port, a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-A 3.2, and a headphone/mic combo jack. Featuring Wi-Fi 7 (be, 2×2) and Bluetooth 5.4 support, the laptop is available for preorder as we speak. It is priced at £1,700 ($2,250) for the 512GB variant, and £1,900 ($2,500) for the 1TB version in the UK.

HONOR MagicBook Art 14 Hands-On at IFA 2024: Honor just Killed Apple’s MacBook Notch in the Best Way

Not only is the HONOR MagicBook Art 14 thinner AND lighter than Apple’s latest MacBook Air, it happens to have more ports, thinner bezels, and a higher screen-to-body ratio. However, the most impressive part about the entire laptop is the visible lack of a notch in the screen, like the one on Apple’s MacBook series. Honor’s solution is equal parts bizarre and clever – a magnetic snap-on camera accessory that docks inside the laptop when you’re not using it.

This rather innovative camera accessory measures a few millimeters and fits right inside the laptop’s body when not in use. However, when you need to attend a video call, the camera module pops right out of the side of the laptop, and magnetically attaches to the top of the laptop screen. The solution circumvents Apple’s notch problem, while also giving you a convenient privacy filter – you can simply pull the camera off to disconnect it.

The MagicBook Art 14’s camera outputs 1080p videos, and uses a powerful set of magnets to automatically connect either to its docking point on the side of the laptop, or the connection hub on the top of the screen. The super-slim camera module doesn’t sport a battery, which means it automatically powers down if disconnected. Pogo-pins on the camera’s base let you instantly connect the module to your laptop. No software, no drivers, no Bluetooth, no configuring… nothing. Snap on, and the camera starts working… snap off, and it is physically disconnected. The only caveat is that you do stand a chance of potentially losing the webcam if you aren’t careful. Honor doesn’t mention if the webcam module is available separately (just in case you lose yours), but it does have incredibly strong magnets, so when it’s attached, you can rest assured that it won’t accidentally fall off.

The snap-to-connect camera feels so simple and intuitive that it makes USB webcams look sluggish. The camera has the form factor of a tiny thumb drive, and includes the camera itself, the pogo-pin connectors, the powerful rare-earth magnets, and a tiny light that glows when the camera’s connected. A notification displays on the laptop screen to tell you whether the camera’s paired properly or not. It’ll even let you know if the camera is stowed in the side of the laptop.

The coolest part, however, is that the camera is reversible – another feature that allows the MagicBook Art 14 to stand out against the MacBook or any other laptop. Flip the camera over and dock it facing the other way, and you have a front-facing camera, perfect for presentations. You can literally flip the camera in the middle of a meeting and the video automatically flips over.

Flip the camera 180 degrees for front-facing video.

The HONOR MagicBook Art 14 is thinner AND lighter than the MacBook Air, while still boasting a larger 14-inch screen. Honor’s CEO pointed out that despite this, it also has a USB-A and HDMI port apart from 2 USB-C ports, outpacing the MacBook Air even in port quantity. The MagicBook Air 14 was announced at IFA 2024, although there’s no official word on price yet.

AEG Kitchen Range at IFA 2024 Elevates the Culinary Experience with Innovation For All

Being stuck at home for months not only gave birth to the indoor gardening trend, it also helped people rediscover the joys of home cooking. The rise of the domestic chef who’s excited to try out new recipes for themselves or for their families has also given rise to the need for more sophisticated kitchen appliances. At the same time, however, aesthetics has never been more important than it is today, with kitchens finally getting the recognition they deserve as sanctuaries that serve not only food but peace of mind as well. With so many requirements on many levels, it’s no surprise that some brands falter in meeting those needs or choose to focus on just one or two aspects. At IFA 2024 in Berlin, AEG is proudly rising up to the challenge, delivering a new range of kitchen products that deliver not only AI-assisted cooking but also elegant designs that take the cooking experience to the next level.

Designer: AEG

Cook Smarter, Not Harder

It can even suggest new tasty and nutritious dishes you may have never tried before through the AEG app.

The CookSmart Touch, which is now available on hobs like the new AEG 9000 ProSense Hob, puts all the functions you need under your fingertips. With a simple touch, you can access the new Assisted Cooking function that guides you through each step to complete a dish and even suggests the accessories you’ll need to use. CookSmart Touch also lets you assign pan-frying or boiling to the hob, select different cooking modes, and generally enjoy the cooking process without breaking a sweat.

This intuitive interface is an immense help to novices just discovering the joys of cooking as well pros who want to glide through the process with as little friction as possible. And for the first time, the CookSmart Touch technology provides a seamless experience that spans AEG’s kitchen range, from ovens to hobs to built-in coffee machines. It removes much of the anxiety and uncertainty associated with cooking, adding joy and peace of mind to every meal prep.

Killer Kitchen Style

Even with all the innovative technologies, AEG hasn’t forgotten the most important aspect of its kitchen range: the human element. Designed to look dashing in any kitchen setting, AEG’s kitchen products deliver not only an effortless cooking experience but also a style that suits people’s tastes. The AEG SaphirMatt Induction Hub, for example, brings not only a handsome surface to your kitchen but also durability you can rely on when the cooking does get a bit intense.

This year’s lineup is available in Glossy Black and MattBlack, both standing out with their sleek and luxurious dark hues. Signature metal handles provide not only usability but also visual identity, making AEG designs easily recognizable in any kitchen. It’s not just the appliances either but your food that gets the beauty treatment as well. The AEG 9000 AutoSense Hood’s illumination can really make your dishes pop, adding to their already appetizing aromas. The new AEG Kitchen Range not only makes you feel in total control, it also makes you feel like a culinary master in their natural environment.

Healthy Living, Healthy Planet

Cooking your own food is one of the best ways to ensure you’re getting tasty and nutritious meals, but your health doesn’t have to come at the expense of the planet’s. Appliances naturally leave a carbon footprint, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make it significantly smaller. The new AEG Kitchen Range is not only filled with smart features, it’s also designed to be sustainable and energy efficient without you having to worry about pushing a button to activate some “Eco Mode,” helping you reduce your carbon footprint by as much as 30%.

The AEG 9000 ComfortLift Dishwasher, for example, can save up to 40% energy with some guidance from the QuickSelect with Ecometer function. The AEG 9000 MultiChill 0°C Fridge Freezer not only has better energy efficiency but also has an inner lining that’s made of 70% recycled plastic. The AEG 9000 ProAssist with SteamPro Oven can help save energy with its PreHeat and Residual Heat functions, reducing the amount of electricity needed to keep the food warm.

Selected models in this new Kitchen Range are part of the AEG EcoLine and boast high energy ratings, some of which are even higher than “A” in the EU energy efficiency class. More than just innovative performance and striking design, the new AEG Kitchen Range represents the brand’s no-compromise approach to energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and commitment to a greener tomorrow for all.

Innovation for the Entire Home

The kitchen isn’t the only part of the modern home that AEG is upgrading with its innovative designs. The AEG 9000X AbsoluteCare Pro tumble dryer brings the same care and energy efficiency from the kitchen to the laundry. With the AbsoluteCare feature that uses a heat pump system to dry delicate material like wool and SmartDry that lets you select lower energy settings, this leading-edge machine has earned The Woolmark Company’s Wool Care Green recognition. It also features 3DScan Technology that determines the humidity in down jackets and duvets for the best drying settings that will keep their fluffiness intact.

AEG is also debuting two new cordless cleaners to keep your home not only clean but also safe from harmful materials and organisms invisible to the naked eye. The AEG 6000 Cordless offers not only strong dust pick-up but also hands-free self-cleaning, emptying its 0.5-liter dust bin with just a touch of a button. The AEG 8000 is the brand’s most powerful and most versatile cordless cleaner, with the UltimatePower multi-surface nuzzle and a brushless DC motor that can capture 99% of dust on hard floors. And with the new Automatic Emptying Station, you can get the AEG 8000 ready for another round of cleaning without having to get your own hands dirty.

HONOR Magic V3: Thinnest Foldable Phone Showcased with AI-Powered Tablet and Laptop at IFA 2024

At the prestigious IFA 2024 in Berlin, HONOR captivated the tech world with the launch of three innovative products: the HONOR Magic V3 folding phone, the MagicPad 2 tablet, and the MagicBook Art 14 laptop. Each device pushes the boundaries of design and technology, setting new standards in their respective categories. Honor’s latest devices showcase an approach to innovation that feels refreshing – more than just cramming higher-specs into their devices, the company’s working on using AI to make them better (in ways that Apple and Google aren’t), while still managing to design products that are delightful to look at and use. In fact, HONOR’s latest foldable measures even thinner than the iPad Pro when opened flat (the company even issued a snarky apology to Samsung for outshining them). The MagicBook Art 14 laptop one-ups Apple too, with a camera accessory that keeps the bezel notch-free. A lot of these devices go beyond just the spec wars. We’re at a point where companies are actually doing things differently to make their gadgets stand out. Take for instance the HONOR V3 Fold’s ability to detect deepfake audio and video calls. Here’s a look at what HONOR announced today:

HONOR Magic V3: The Pinnacle of Folding Technology

HONOR’s latest foldable smartphone, the Magic V3, represents a significant leap forward in both design and functionality. Measuring an impressive 9.2mm in thickness when folded, and an astonishing 4.35mm when unfolded, the Magic V3 is the slimmest foldable phone on the market. Weighing just 226 grams, it’s also lighter than many conventional smartphones, which makes it both portable and comfortable to hold.

Under the hood, the Magic V3 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, ensuring top-tier performance for all tasks, from gaming to multitasking. The phone features a 7.92-inch inner display with a 10:9 aspect ratio and a 6.43-inch outer display. Both screens offer remarkable brightness, with peak brightness reaching up to 1600 nits on the inner display, making it highly readable even in direct sunlight. The 120Hz refresh rate provides a smooth and responsive user experience, whether you’re scrolling through apps or watching videos.

HONOR has focused heavily on durability with this release. The phone is constructed using HONOR Aerospace Spatial Fiber, which boasts a tensile strength of 5,800 MPa—100% stronger than steel. This material, combined with a hinge mechanism that is just 2.84mm thin, ensures the Magic V3 can withstand over 500,000 folds, equating to more than 13 years of daily use. The inner screen is protected by Honor Super Amp Inner Screen technology, which significantly enhances impact resistance, while the outer screen is fortified with a Nano Crystal Shield for superior scratch and drop resistance.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the Magic V3’s camera capabilities. It is the first HONOR phone to feature a periscope telephoto camera, alongside a 40MP ultra-wide camera. With the industry-first AI-enabled Harcourt portrait mode (developed alongside French photography powerhouse Studio Harcourt), users can capture studio-quality photos with ease. The AI-powered 4K camera is designed for shooting in various conditions, including while the device is hovering, thanks to its innovative folding design. HONOR’s managed to extend that AI ability to phone and video calls too, with the V3 being able to detect audio and video deepfakes, notifying you in case you’re on a fraudulent call.

HONOR MagicPad 2: Redefining the Tablet Experience

Next up is the HONOR MagicPad 2, a tablet that sets new benchmarks in display technology and versatility. The MagicPad 2 features a 12.9-inch OLED display with a 3K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, providing stunning visuals with ultra-high contrast of 1,000,000:1. The display’s 92% screen-to-body ratio, coupled with thin bezels, creates an immersive viewing experience that rivals even the most premium tablets on the market.

Weighing in at just 599 grams and only 5.8mm thick, the MagicPad 2 is incredibly portable, yet durable. The tablet’s back cover is crafted from a new lightweight fiber, reducing weight by 45% while increasing strength by 24%. This results in a device that is both easy to carry and resilient, with SGS certification for bending resistance.

The MagicPad 2 is packed with AI-powered features that enhance productivity and creativity. The tablet’s AI-defocus display technology, which was first seen in HONOR’s flagship phones, is now available on the MagicPad 2, reducing eye strain during prolonged use. Additionally, the device supports dynamic dimming, low blue light, and circadian night display, all designed to protect users’ eyes. If you marveled at the iPad Pro’s new Math Notes upgrade, the MagicPad 2 packs a similar feature, with the ability to recognize handwriting, and solve equations on the fly. Tablets might just become illegal in classrooms!

Audio is another strong suit of the MagicPad 2. With on-device AI enabling spatial audio, the tablet delivers an IMAX Enhanced sound experience, perfect for streaming movies on platforms like Disney+. On the software front, the tablet runs an AI-enabled OS, offering features like Magic Ring for seamless file transfers and Magic Capsule for efficient notification management. For students and professionals, the tablet’s AI-powered voice-to-text conversion and formula recognition features make note-taking and mathematical input more efficient than ever before.

HONOR MagicBook Art 14: A Laptop That Blends Power with Elegance

Rounding out HONOR’s IFA 2024 lineup is the MagicBook Art 14, a laptop that marries cutting-edge performance with a sleek, artistic design. With a thickness of just 1 centimeter and a weight of approximately 1 kilogram, the MagicBook Art 14 is one of the lightest and thinnest laptops available, yet it does not compromise on power or functionality.

The laptop’s 3.1K OLED touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate offers vibrant colors and sharp details, making it ideal for creative professionals. The 97% screen-to-body ratio, achieved through ultra-thin 2.2mm bezels, provides a nearly edge-to-edge display, enhancing the visual experience.

The MagicBook Art 14 is powered by the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 Processor processor, delivering exceptional performance for demanding tasks, whether it’s video editing, 3D rendering, or gaming. The laptop also features six AI-enabled speakers and a spatial audio engine, ensuring crystal-clear sound whether you’re in a video conference or watching a movie.

One of the standout features of the MagicBook Art 14 is also its innovative magnetic camera, which is detachable and easily attaches to the top of the screen when needed. This design not only enhances privacy by allowing users to store the camera away when not in use but also adds a layer of security with its strong magnetic connection and system alerts.

The DJI Neo Is Lightweight, Compact, and Ready to Capture Everyday Moments

The DJI Neo is the company’s lightest and most compact drone, weighing just under 5 ounces (135g). Designed for casual creators, adventurers, and anyone wanting to capture everyday moments, the Neo combines portability and powerful features, making it ideal for those seeking a simple, efficient way to document their experiences. Its compact form factor means it’s easy to carry and use on the go, offering creators a versatile tool for capturing life’s moments.

Designer: DJI

Unlike many drones, the Neo does not require a traditional remote control. Instead, users can take off, fly, and land the drone using a single button. For added convenience, voice commands allow for hands-free operation, making the drone easy to control even in dynamic situations. The drone can be launched and landed directly from the user’s hand, making it highly intuitive for beginners and experienced users. With an 18-minute flight time, the Neo provides ample opportunity to capture spontaneous moments indoors or outdoors, while its compact size means it fits comfortably into any adventure.

The Neo’s camera capabilities ensure high-quality footage in any situation. Equipped with a 12MP camera, the Neo can capture crisp still images, while its ability to shoot 4K stabilized video adds a professional touch to even casual content. Whether documenting a family day at the park or recording an outdoor adventure, the Neo provides the tools to capture sharp, clear footage quickly.

The AI-powered subject tracking feature allows users to focus on their shots without manually adjusting the drone. Whether cycling, skateboarding, or hiking, the Neo’s advanced AI tracking system keeps the user perfectly framed, ensuring smooth, dynamic footage every time. The drone’s six QuickShots modes—Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix, and Boomerang—allow users to create cinematic content with just the press of a button. These pre-programmed flight paths and camera angles simplify the creative process, ensuring professional-looking results without the need for advanced piloting skills.

Safety is also a key design focus of the DJI Neo. The drone’s propellers are fully wrapped, protecting it and its surroundings and making it safe indoors and outdoors. The Neo’s 22GB of internal storage allows users to record up to 40 minutes of 4K video at 30fps or 55 minutes at 1080p/60fps. With built-in Wireless QuickTransfer, users can send their footage directly to their smartphones for easy editing and sharing, streamlining the post-production process and eliminating the need for external memory cards or additional cables.

In addition to its camera and safety features, the Neo is equipped with a single-axis mechanical gimbal, ensuring smooth and steady footage even during rapid maneuvers. DJI’s RockSteady and HorizonBalancing technologies further enhance stabilization, reducing shake and ensuring the horizon stays level even in dynamic or fast-moving scenarios. The Neo also uses infrared and monocular vision positioning systems, allowing it to hover steadily and maintain stability in various environments. Users can focus on capturing content, knowing the drone will stay steady without needing constant manual adjustments.

The Neo includes an Automatic Return to Home (RTH) feature for added convenience. This ensures that the drone safely returns to its takeoff point with a single command, providing peace of mind for users who are new to flying drones. Whether capturing footage in open spaces or more challenging environments, the RTH feature ensures the drone’s safe retrieval, adding an extra layer of security to the flying experience.

DJI NEO FPV Control

Charging the Neo is made easy with its Type-C charging port, which allows for quick recharges between flights. For extended use, DJI also offers a Two-Way Charging Hub that can charge up to three batteries simultaneously, reducing downtime and ensuring users can stay in the air longer. The Neo’s flexible design also makes it compatible with the DJI Fly app, traditional remote controllers, DJI Goggles, and RC Motion, giving users a range of options for controlling the drone based on their personal preferences.

The DJI Neo is designed to make aerial content creation accessible to everyone. Its lightweight and compact form, advanced features like AI-powered tracking, QuickShots modes, and high-quality video capture make it a versatile tool for capturing life’s moments. Whether you’re documenting family outings or outdoor adventures or simply looking to add a cinematic touch to your daily experiences, the Neo provides the perfect balance of portability, performance, and ease of use.

WPC Unveils Ki Standard: A New Era for Cordless Kitchens

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has announced the launch of the Ki standard, a breakthrough in bringing wireless power to the kitchen. Following the success of the Qi2 standard, which enhanced wireless charging for small electronics, the Ki standard eliminates the need for power cords in everyday kitchen appliances like blenders, toasters, and air fryers. Instead, appliances will communicate with a Ki power transmitter, which can be integrated into induction cooktops or hidden beneath countertops and kitchen islands. Delivering up to 2.2 kW of power, the Ki system promises to make kitchens more efficient, convenient, and safer while creating cleaner and more organized spaces.

Designer: Wireless Power Consortium (WPC)

Paul Struhsaker, Executive Director of WPC, explained how Ki will transform kitchen design. “Not only are we cutting the cord, but we’re eliminating it altogether,” Struhsaker said, noting that this advancement would inspire homeowners and designers to rethink how kitchens are used. Ki offers an innovative way to power smart appliances with greater convenience and flexibility, whether for new builds, remodels, or smart home upgrades.

New Possibilities for Kitchen Design

The introduction of the Ki standard opens up new design opportunities for kitchens. Without power cords, appliances are no longer restricted to placement near outlets. This freedom allows designers to create more open and modern layouts. With appliances able to sit on any Ki-enabled cooktop or countertop, there’s more room for creative solutions in kitchen design.

The ability to hide transmitters under countertops brings even more design flexibility. Kitchens can adopt sleek, minimalist looks, free from the clutter of cords. This feature will be especially useful in open-plan designs, where maintaining a streamlined aesthetic is important.

In addition to improving the look of kitchens, the Ki system enhances safety. Accidents are less likely to happen if no cords get tangled or cause trips, particularly in homes with children. The system’s wireless power shuts off automatically when an appliance is removed from the cooktop or transmitter, keeping surfaces cool and reducing the risk of burns.

Smarter Appliances

Ki also introduces smarter appliances. Future Ki-enabled devices will offer advanced features that allow users to control them remotely via smartphones. These smart functions will provide more control over cooking and make kitchens safer and more convenient.

For designers, this brings an opportunity to incorporate advanced technology into kitchen layouts. Smart appliances connected through the Ki system will be part of the growing trend of smart home integration, offering homeowners easier ways to manage their kitchens.

Space Efficiency and Flexibility

Ki helps improve kitchen space utilization by removing the need for power cords. Without cords cluttering countertops, appliances can be placed more efficiently, and storage areas can be used more effectively. Transmitters hidden under countertops also allow for clean, unobstructed surfaces.

This feature will appeal to those designing smaller kitchens or maximizing the available space in larger ones. With fewer restrictions on where appliances can go, Ki enables more creative and functional kitchen designs.

Next Steps for Kitchen Technology

The development of the Ki standard has involved collaboration from leading appliance brands such as Midea, Beko, Philips, Miele, and E.G.O. These companies are working with WPC to bring Ki-enabled appliances to market, with certification testing expected to begin by the end of 2024.

WPC’s certification process ensures that Ki-enabled products meet the highest standards for safety and interoperability. Once certified, products will display the Ki logo, assuring consumers that their appliances meet the standard.

Beyerdynamic Elevates Consumer Audio: Hands-On with the Aventho 300 and Amiron 300 Launch at IFA 2024

Beyerdynamic, the German audio brand synonymous with professional-grade equipment, is making a bold leap from the recording studio to the consumer market. As the company celebrates its 100th anniversary (coincidental with IFA’s 100-year anniversary), it’s fascinating to reflect on its legacy, one that’s intertwined with some of the greatest names in music. From the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Jimi Hendrix to contemporary superstars like Ariana Grande, Justin Beiber, and Taylor Swift, beyerdynamic headphones have become a silent partner in the creation of iconic sounds. And now, the company is taking all that studio expertise and packaging it into products for everyday listeners, offering premium audio experiences for anyone willing to invest.

At IFA 2024, beyerdynamic marked its centennial year by unveiling two new consumer products: the Aventho 300 over-ear headphones and the Amiron 300 true wireless earbuds. Both products are packed with cutting-edge technology, promising a seamless audio experience that brings the beyerdynamic studio sound to everyday life.

beyerdynamic Aventho 300: Studio-Grade Sound Goes Mobile

The Aventho 300 is beyerdynamic’s latest flagship over-ear headphone, and it brings the precision of the studio into a portable, wireless format. Featuring beyerdynamic’s legendary STELLAR.45 drivers (from their flagship DT 770 PRO X headphones), these wireless headphones deliver the kind of detail and clarity typically reserved for professional-grade equipment. Whether you’re listening to music on the go or mixing tracks on your laptop, the Aventho 300 ensures you hear every note as the artist intended.

beyerdynamic Aventho 300

One of the standout features is the Dolby Atmos head-tracking technology, which offers immersive spatial audio that adjusts to your movements, making it perfect for watching movies or playing games on the go. And for those who need quiet, the hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) powered by dual Sony chipsets will keep distractions at bay. But if you’re navigating a busy airport or commuting, the transparency mode ensures you stay aware of your surroundings without having to take off your headphones.

The Aventho 300 boasts up to 50 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge. With a two-hour charge giving you full battery life and a quick 10-minute charge providing five additional hours of use, these headphones are designed to keep up with even the busiest lifestyles. The Aventho 300 also supports Bluetooth 5.4, multi-device pairing, and high-resolution audio codecs like AAC, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Lossless, ensuring top-tier sound quality no matter what device you’re using.

Priced at $399.99, the Aventho 300 will be available on the beyerdynamic e-shop and Amazon in Q4 2024.

beyerdynamic Amiron 300: True Wireless with a Studio Edge

For those who prefer earbuds but don’t want to sacrifice sound quality, beyerdynamic has the Amiron 300. These true wireless earbuds pack the company’s signature 10mm dynamic drivers into a compact design, delivering deep bass, crystal-clear highs, and precise mids that rival much larger headphones. Whether you’re working out, traveling, or just enjoying some downtime, the Amiron 300 provides pristine audio for every occasion.

Like the Aventho 300, the Amiron 300 features customizable ANC and a transparency mode, ensuring you can tune out the world or stay aware when needed. These earbuds also offer up to 38 hours of total battery life, with 10 hours of continuous playtime per charge and a Qi-compatible charging case that provides an additional 28 hours of battery life. A 10-minute charge gives you 2 more hours of listening time, making it easy to keep the music going.

The Amiron 300 is also equipped with six microphones, enhanced with advanced algorithms to filter out ambient noise during calls. Whether you’re in a busy office or on a noisy street, your voice will come through clearly. Multipoint Bluetooth 5.3 allows for seamless switching between devices, and automatic play/pause functionality means you won’t miss a beat if you take out an earbud.

The Amiron 300 will be available in Q4 2024 for $279.99.

Accompanying the two new launches is the Verio 200, beyerdynamic’s open-ear earphones launched earlier this year. The Verio 200, beyerdynamic’s first foray into open-ear sports headphones, offers an entirely new experience for active listeners. Launched in June 2024, the Verio 200 is designed with athletes and outdoor enthusiasts in mind, combining an ergonomic, lightweight frame with a durable build. Its open-ear design with a secure ear stem ensures that users stay aware of their surroundings while enjoying high-quality sound, making it ideal for running, cycling, or other outdoor activities. The Verio 200 was a significant first step for beyerdynamic as it moved beyond its professional roots and enters the broader consumer audio market. With its water-resistant construction and long battery life, it’s clear that beyerdynamic is applying the same rigorous attention to detail that has made its studio products legendary.

beyerdynamic Verio 200

Beyerdynamic’s transition into the consumer space feels like a natural evolution. For a century, the company has been at the forefront of professional audio, helping artists craft timeless music in studios around the world. Now, with the Aventho 300, Amiron 300, and Verio 200, they’re giving consumers access to that same world-class sound in everyday settings, with a consumer-friendly price-point to match.
