Walabot DIY Lets You Look Inside Your Walls
I’m sure I am not the only one who fears each time I hang a picture in my house or have to drill a hole in the wall that I will either hit a pipe and flood the place or hit a wire and electrocute myself. Sure you can use a stud finder to hit the stud, but for some reason I seem to be particularly adept at missing studs even with that tool in use.
If you want to know exactly where the wires and pipes are inside your walls you need the new Walabot DIY.
This gadget sort of looks like a stud finder but it is meant to be used along with your Android smartphone. It has sensors in side that can detect pipes and wires through up to four inches of concrete or drywall, and can detect plastic and metal pipes, electrical wires, and studs.
Images are presented on the screen of your smartphone for you to see and save.
The device can also detect movement so that you can see if you have a mouse inside your walls or if your room really is haunted. WalabotDIY is selling for $199(USD) during its introductory period, though it’s unclear when it will actually ship.
San Francisco: New paint makes pee bounce off of walls
San Francisco has become the testing ground for a special type of paint that makes pee bounce off of walls. If you feel like going, better look for a tree instead.
The San Francisco city has announced that they will be trying out a new special type of paint in the city, one that repels urine in the walls of the city where this shameful activity seems to be kind of popular. The system behind this paint is pretty simple: once the pee-er starts urinating, the liquid might bounce on his pants or shoes instead of staying on the wall.
This paint is not original from San Francisco. It’s very used in Germany, in areas with bars and pubs, and has gotten very good results in stopping people from this nasty habit. Community groun IG St Pauli from Hamburg have decided to use this paint to deal with problems in a neighborhood visited by more than 20 million tourists each year.
“The paint, called Ultra-Every Dry, creates an air barrier in front of the surface which repels almost any liquid”, said the creators in an interview with the BBC.
This special paint is being used now in San Francisco, and many walls around bars and pubs, in neighborhoods with many homeless people, where this type of conduct is more likely to happen. Also, signales in many languages have been added which read: “hold it! This wall is not a public restroom. Please respect San Francisco and seek relief in an appropriate place”.
“The idea is that they will think twice next time about urinating in public”, said Rachel Gordon in representation of the city. “We have gotten many, many phonecalls where citizens asked us to apply this pain on their alleys or buildings”. The city of San Francisco has also said that applying this paint is also cheaper than assigning a cleaning team specifically to these areas.
Pee in public spaces is a big concern for San Francisco and its citizens, where fines for peein outside of bathrooms can go from $50 USD to $100 USD.

Game Controller Wallpaper Murals Are Gamer Chic
Growing up, my uncle had a big wall mural in his room that had a little sliver of beach and palm trees on it. I always thought that was really cool, but not really my style. If you are getting a game room or man cave together and need some art for the walls, these are the perfect murals for you.
No beach or woods here, these wallpaper murals have a bunch of old school video game controllers on them. I see the original Atari 2600 controller in the mix and the Nintendo Game Boy thrown in. I also see an original NES controller among others.
The murals come in different colors to match your decor. You can order custom sizes to fit any wall, but for example, you can fill an 8′ x 10′ wall for £208.10 (~$325 USD) over at Murals Wallpaper .

Custom Print Your Walls!
How often have you thought about painting your favorite superhero or secret fantasy on the wall across your bed? Well, with the innovative Printtex Mobile Wall Printer, peeling wallpapers and boring stencils will be a thing of the past. It has the ability to transfer digital pictures onto your wall, with limitless possibilities. Working on the principles akin to an ink-jet printer, two coordinate-sensors are used to limit the print area.
Controlled with your tablet, laptop or smartphone, you can upload and print your desired design on your wall. The printer aligns and prints within the selected area and prints each color tone separately. The sensors on the edge guide the printer and ensure precise printing.
Like the judges of the 2015 iF Design Awards opine, this design showcases the “Intelligent use of the inkjet technology to make the wall as a sheet of paper.”

Power Tap Wall Charger: Let the Power Flow
The Power Tap isn’t something you need, but if you’re up for having a charger that’s actually fun, then you might want to look into it. As the name implies, the wall charger comes in the shape of a tap. However, instead of dispensing drinks and other liquids, it “dispenses” power.
Just twist it open to turn it on and charge your gadgets or shut the power off by turning it the other way. The tap itself will glow red or blue to let you know when your device is or isn’t charging, respectively.
The Power Tap is compatible with all devices that charge via a USB port, though since it’s made in the UK, it appears to be designed for European outlets only. It’s available from Amazon for $28(USD).

If Only Costner Made WaterWall…
… the result would have been a new ecological water heater for the bathroom! Apparently this wall integrated water storage has a coating on the glass surfaces to help absorb solar energy. This of course means that the water sandwiched between the glass panes will also get heated. Moreover the translucent glass allows natural sunlight to stream into the bathroom. So nice!

Wall Torch Sconce Turns Anyone into Indiana Jones, Cave Not Included
Turn your home into a dungeon, a castle, an ancient pyramid or an olympic stadium with this cool wall sconce that looks like a torch. This is a perfect night light, because everyone knows that monsters fear torch light more than they fear light from modern light bulbs. And snakes. Snakes hate torches.
The torch light even flickers. The best part is that it doesn’t stay on the wall. It instantly switches from wall-mounted to hand-held, for impromptu adventures, since it runs on two AA batteries (not included). It even turns off automatically after 10 minutes to prevent battery drain.
Kids and adults will love this torch. So spelunk on over to ThinkGeek, where you can buy one for just $19.99(USD).
