Hot Toys Hulk Collectible Figure Will Smash Wallets

I am a Hulk fan and grew up watching Lou Ferrigno bust through walls every Friday night. I loved that show and was a bit mad when the new Hulk movies and The Avengers used a computer generated Hulk. I really wanted them to just get a massive body builder and paint him green.

If you like CGI Hulk, you will want to check out this sweet new Hulk collectible figure from Avengers: Age of Ultron. The 1:6 scale collectible is 17-inches-tall and comes in two versions. The basic version doesn’t have much, but the deluxe gets a few extra doodads.

That version comes with a flexing Hulk torso and a Hulk torso with arms raised ready to smash something. It also comes with a set of open hands and a set of clenched fists. The basic version will cost you $274.99(USD) with the deluxe version going for $374.99 at Sideshow Collectibles.

Watch as This Guy Opens a Pack of Magic Cards and Finds Rare Card Worth $30k

This video shows one lucky guy opening a 1993 deck of Magic the Gathering cards. Spoiler alert: This guy just got a whole lot richer.

magic cardmagnify

When these packs were made, the rare card was always on top of the decks, so he flips the deck over and starts from the other side just to build up the suspense. Watch this guy’s hands shake all over the place. He probably paid about $6,000(USD) for that pack of cards. When he finally gets to the rare card at about the 8:15 mark, it happens to be a Black Lotus card that’s worth up to $30,000.

So of course he goes crazy. Only 1,100 of these cards were ever made. Apparently one sold last year for $27,000. This guy is calm compared to how I would be freaking out. This is like winning the nerd lottery right here.

Wolfenstein: The New Order Panzerhund Edition Celebrates the Game

I have a soft spot for Wolfenstein; it was the first FPS game I ever played back in the day. If you too are a fan of the franchise, you may have played the Wolfenstein: The New Order game already. And if you enjoyed the title, you will appreciate this special box set.

wolfen 1magnify

This isn’t a box set that includes the game mind you; it’s just some items from the game to make things a bit more special for fans. You get an officially licensed collectible – an articulated Panzerhund statue that is hand-painted. Other than the statue, you get a footlocker style box, 14 weathered looking postcards from the game’s alternate history, three embroidered patches, assorted maps and an x-ray among other things. You also get some replica dog tags.

Only 5,000 of the box sets will be made. It’s too bad this doesn’t include a copy of the game, but I guess they’re assuming that anyone who wants one already owns the game, and it would have just driven the price up. You can get your own box set for $99.99(USD) from ThinkGeek.

Aluminum Signs Commemorate Star Wars Ships

You know how they have the building plaques on some ships to commemorate their construction? Every Star Trek ship has one on the bridge too. Well, even though the Star Wars ships never had these, you can buy them from Big Bay Toy Store.

They’re printed on brushed aluminum, with a black box backing for hanging and a certificate of authenticity. It’s a great way to pretend that your office or living room is a Star Wars ship, even though it doesn’t look like one. Choose from the Millennium Falcon, the X-34 Landspeeder, or the T-65 X-Wing Starfighter.

Why would the seller ever part with something as cool as this? He has hit some hard times financially and hopes that this sale will help. Skylanders SWAP Force to Debut Later this Year

If you’re a big fan of the Skylanders video game and collectible toy franchise, Activision has announced a new game is coming this fall. The new game is called Skylanders SWAP Force. The game will feature 16 new characters that will be on display at the Toy Fair 2013 in New York this month.

skylanders1

The coolest feature of the new game in the franchise is that the player can customize the accompanying action figures. Each of the 16 action figures that go along with the new  game has the ability to be separated into top and bottom halves. Those halves can then be interchanged, creating custom action figures with custom powers and abilities. In addition to the 16 swappable characters, the game will feature 16 new Skylanders, and 16 upgraded versions of classic characters.

SWAP Force will see players starting a new adventure in the mysterious Cloudbreak Islands. These islands are the home of a volcano that erupts every 100 years replenishing the magic in the Skylands. The special characters in the game were once blown apart by the volcano and left with special abilities, including the ability to empty your kids’ piggy banks.

The game is expected to be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U later this year.

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Silver Coin Can Be Spent in This Time and Space

BBC has partnered with New Zealand Mint to create a limited edition $2 (NZD) coin to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its popular TV show Doctor Who. The 1-ounce coin will be made of 0.999 silver and will be legal tender in the island of Niue, although I’m sure you know by know that the coin is actually worth much more than a couple of bucks.

On one side the coin will have an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and on the other side an engraved relief of the TARDIS, with timey wimey and spacey… wacey blue background. Each coin will also be packaged in a replica of the TARDIS, which will make its trademark warping sound when its doors are opened.

Now for the funny part. This $2 NZD coin – that’s about $1.70 (USD) – is available for pre-order on New Zealand Mint’s website for a whopping $130 (USD). Then again it has a fancy packaging and is limited to 10,000 pieces. New Zealand Mint also said that they’ll be releasing more Doctor Who coins this year, including ones featuring all 11 Doctors.
