Pretty Little Desktop Water-volcano

watercone

Remember how I used to talk about the demise of Form Follows Function? The Watercone seems to fit well into that theory. The outward shape of the Watercone has an aesthetic that transcends functionality. When not in use, it is designed to be decorative. You probably are wondering what the Watercone is! The Watercone is a humidifier designed to look nothing like one. Its conical shape houses all the electronics and water storage needed. The design is small enough to be a part of your desk, and sturdy enough to even be carried around without worries of the water spilling; which means you can use the Watercone in your car too! It comes in two absolutely beautiful metal/gloss-plastic color combos for you to choose from. One for the Apple lover, and another for the HP lover! (If you know what I mean!)

Air that’s perfect to breathe

air_washer_1

Writing about design can sometimes teach you a couple of things. For instance, today’s product is something I’ve encountered for the first time. An Air Washer. Air washers (from what I read up) are basically humidifiers, but they work as dehumidifiers too, and they also purify the air you breathe. Usually placed as a 2-in-1 solution, an Air Washer is perfect for situations where air purity and climate control are paramount.

The Air Washer designed by Dongwook Yoon and Junyoung Hong aims at making a sculpture out of the appliance, given its niche market. Made to fit into the house it belongs in, the product goes for a geometric style, going for a shape that’s a cross between an ellipsoid and a cuboid. The controls on the top are minimal and display-centric. A secondary display on the white body comes alive too, allowing you to know the temperature/humidity level just in case the upper display is out of sight.

I personally love a few of the design choices. The secondary screen shining through the plastic adds quite a wow-element. The overall design does (to me) resemble a laundry hamper, but that’s something I’m willing to overlook, given how clean the product looks otherwise. After all, that’s what a purifier SHOULD embody, right? Cleanliness.

A box full of aura

boon_aroma_diffuser_1

What if, just what if…you could relieve stress by just breathing in well oxygenated, fragrant air? Deep breathing is known to be a meditative process, so why don’t we bring that culture to the workplace, a zone just wrought with tension and stress? The Boon is an aromatic diffuser that also humidifies the air, giving you that perfect air texture to tantalize the inside of your nostrils and un-wrinkle that forehead. Paired with an app that allows you to control it remotely, the Boon uses water and aromatic oils to give you clean and scented air.

It even comes with an ambient light that tells you when the CO2 levels in your air increase, so you know when to let the aromatherapy begin!

Darth Vader Humidifier: The Steamy Side of the Force

Darth Vader was the Empire’s super soldier. But every now and then he always had to go back to his special chamber. That was because of the wheezing. That’s where his humidifier was. Unfortunately it never improved his breathing much, but that doesn’t mean a humidifier won’t work for you. This Darth Vader humidifier should do the trick.

Feng Shui-approved Humidifier

The water-rounded cobblestone-shaped “Streaming Wisdom” humidifier and its spray represent the ancient Chinese belief that wisdom is tied to mountains and streams. The visible flow of the vapor creates a captivating visual that inspires the viewers imagination. Users can set their desired humidity and enjoy a sense of well-being both physically and visually.

If Icebergs were Volcanos

iceberg_humidifier_1

Contrast in design can be quite a good thing. Makes you think, wonder, and then appreciate. The Iceberg Humidifier creates that type of contrast with its design. Essentially a steam releasing device, the design takes inspiration from the iceberg.

Its edgy, “low-poly”esque design gives it an almost high end perfume bottle appeal, making it it look not just beautiful, but premium too.

Accurate Climate Control

ROOT takes the guess work out of perfecting the humidity level indoors. The combination humidifier/de-humidifier automatically detects levels and adjusts output depending on the fine-tuned user preferences. A simple, integrated bucket also makes it easy to keep replenishing the water supply without toting the entire device around. As for its form, it pays homage to the traditional Korean braziers used in ancient times to control the air condition.

Mixing Moss With Humidity

Love this eccentric mix of a humidifier and moss, both co-dependent and beautifully juxtaposition with each other. Natural and artificial elements placed as functional pieces giving birth to a hybrid device.
