A New King T-shirt Mashes Star Wars with The Sword in the Stone

Growing up, I was a big fan of old-school animated Disney movies. I also happened to be a big fan of Star Wars. This single shirt mashes up those ’80s loves of mine.

It shows Luke Skywalker as a kid drawn in Disney animation style, and he’s pulling a lightsaber out of a stone just like Wart in The Sword in the Stone. Clearly with that lightsaber in hand, Luke will rule the kingdom.

The shirt is even more appropriate since Disney now owns all the rights to Star Wars, though I have to wonder if the legal team at Disney will come after the creators of this shirt. You can get one for just $12 at BustedTees.

Finally, you can pay $534 to get the whole shebang, including a soundboard and a smart charger. If you get the upper two tiers you get to choose the color of the LED modules. Star Wars Lightsabers Lamp: The Light-up Side of the Force

I think we just found the coolest Star Wars lamp ever. The lampshade features some splendid art from artist Steve Anderson, and the base includes 3 lightsabers along with the Star Wars logo. It is an elegant lamp for a more civilized age.

This 18″ tall lamp gives off a nice soft light, but things really get cool when you flip a second switch on the base. That lights the lightsabers up in blue, green and red.

This lamp is going to look awesome no matter where you put it in your house. It will cost you $199.99(USD). Sure, that is expensive for a lamp, but it is totally worth it.

Saberforge Adaptive Saber Parts Modular Lightsaber System: Jedi at Arms

Philip Isherwood and his team at Saber Forge are known for making high quality lightsaber replicas. Now they’d like to share the wonder of building your own lightsaber with Adaptive Saber Parts (ASP). These modular parts will let you build and customize your lightsaber even if you don’t have tools or experience.

ASP have three main categories: the metal parts, the electronics kits and the blades. At launch there will be over a hundred metal ASP parts, each available in three different finishes. The electronic kits on the other hand will be plug-and-play – no soldering required. Finally the blades are made of polycarbonate and are sturdy enough for rough play.

Saber Forge will release new ASP parts monthly, so you’ll always have something new to tinker with.

Pledge at least $150 (USD) on Kickstarter to earn an ASP hilt kit as a reward; pledge at least $225 and you’ll get a complete ASP kit: hilt, electronics and blade.

iFixit’s Lightsaber Teardown: Watto’s Wiki

The helpful and environment-friendly folks at iFixit participated in Star Wars Day by creating a teardown guide for the lightsaber. The replica they used was made by Brad Lewis, but iFixit approached the teardown as if the lightsaber – in this case Obi Wan’s weapon – was an actual device. They even listed The Force as one of tools you’ll need to perform the teardown.

Star Wars Lightsaber : The Force is With Your Notes

Star Wars Lightsaber Pen

Ace that exam, finish that report, or get through another all-nighter by swapping your current, boring old pen with the Star Wars lightsaber pen. Granted, your professor or boss might not take you as seriously, but hey, at least you’ll easily have the awesomest and geekiest pen in the room, at any given time.

The pen is a conversation starter, an awesome gift for that Star Wars aficionado in your life, a collector’s item, and of course, a lightsaber for all your battles once it’s off the paper. It’s available online for about $14.

Wicked Lasers Star Wars Crossguard Laser Concept: The Insanity Awakens

Wicked Lasers is known for creating crazy powerful consumer lasers, but there are some lines that even the company wouldn’t cross. But they’re going to help anyone crazy enough to realize its idea. It’s a concept for a laser-based replica of the crossguard lightsaber from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

star-wars-vii-crossguard-lightsaber-laser-concept-by-wicked-laserszoom in

The concept calls for an aluminum adapter for its Spyder III Inferno laser. Inside the adapter are two 45º side-mounted front surface mirrors, which will divert parts of the laser to the two ports on either side of the adapter, creating the weaponized crossguard.

I’m no expert on lasers, but even I can tell how risky this device will be. The crossguard beams’ range will most likely be far beyond that of the plasma on the crossguard lightsaber.

Colin Furze, Patrick Priebe and others with the balls and the safety gear to pull this off, immortality awaits. And possibly permanent blindness. Wicked Lasers’ 3D files for the housing are available on its website.

By the way, the company will no longer sell lasers stronger than 5mW to US customers starting next year, and it seems the company will soon stop producing those high caliber lasers. As a parting gift, it’s slashed 40% off the price of its lasers (except its Core line). Just enter “Final40″ at checkout to get the discount.

Crossguard Lightsaber Replica: The Cosplay Awakens

No matter what you think about the new lightsaber that the bad guy is using in the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, you know you are going to buy the toy when it is available. Don’t worry guys, I’m pretty sure it was made by a bad guy who doesn’t know what he is doing, which is why it is sort of fuzzy. Anyway, this person built a replica and it looks awesome.

This is exactly what a budding dark side devotee needs to slice up rebels and light side Jedis. This replica looks pretty sweet.

Be careful how you handle that thing. You could really hurt yourself with that design.
