Simple Tech Develops Infant Warmer To Save Lives In Developing Countries
Corsair’s Hydro H75 Liquid Cooler Can Make Your PC Run Forty Degrees Cooler
Smart Lids Change Color When Contents Are Too Hot
Taking a tiny sip of a piping hot drink is the usual way to figure out its temperature. That, or feeling the cup with your hands, but that can be hard with some materials. The Smart Lid hopes to give you a visual cue, informing you of the drink’s temperature before you use your own body as a thermometer. It turns red when the contents are at 120°F (48°C) or above, which seems like an appropriate middle ground. The lids come in packs of 1,000 of either the lid alone, or the lid with a 8oz or 12oz cup, with prices starting as low as $62. Clearly restaurants will have more use for this, but there is a 40 lid/cup pack for $30 that you may be tempted to use at home.

BrewBit Wireless Offers Real-Time Monitoring When You’re Brewing Booze at Home
Making homemade beer is more than just mashing and mixing stuff and letting it sit. It’s sort of like an art form that involves technique aside from the technical. For example, temperature is a really important thing to keep track of so you’ll end up with professional-quality and good-tasting beer. One tool that can help you monitor the temperature when you’re brewing is the BrewBit Model-T.
The BrewBit is a WiFi-enabled temperature controller with open source software, so you can hack it and modify it to perform other functions, if you’re not a homebrewer. It’s equipped with dual independent temperature probes and dual independent outputs. You can choose to control one, both, or none of the outputs for logging purposes. Its makers explain that the BrewBit can help “keep your fermentation and mash temperatures where you want them to be”, resulting in high-quality, great-tasting beer.
The BrewBit Model-T is currently up for funding on Kickstarter, where a minimum pledge of $160 will get you one of your very own.
How Hot Is Your Coffee? This Mug Will Tell You
How many times have you burnt your tongue when you took a sip of coffee that was still too hot to consume? In my case, I’d say it’s one too many. I hate the sandpaper-like feeling of a burnt tongue that makes eating and drinking uncomfortable for a couple of days. Of course, you can avoid this simply by checking the beverage’s temperature before taking a sip. Or you can just get one of these temperature-sensing mugs from Brando.
The mug has a built-in thermometer which measures the temperature of the beverage it contains. The temperature reading is displayed on the outside of the insulated container for the drinker to see. A heart also lights up in blue, yellow, or red, which will indicate whether the drink is cool, warm, or hot, respectively.
The mug retails online for $37.

Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat learns habits, matches your neon decor (video)
Honeywell has had WiFi-capable thermostats on the market for some time, but few of them would be a great match for home interiors that have escaped 1980s beige chic. The company's new Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat is going a long way toward bringing that design fully into the present century. Owners can color match the touchscreen interface with the paint on their walls, down to very exact shades. Of course, the thermostat wouldn't be much of a competitor in the Nest era if it didn't have some of that namesake intelligence underneath. As with its main rival, the Honeywell system has (already existing) Android and iOS apps, and can tell how long it takes to change the temperature; it's also aware of when filters need a change based on furnace behavior. If you're on the cusp of a home renovation and don't want anything so gauche as a differently-colored screen, home improvement shops should have the Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat this May for $249.
