Cake in a Can: Just Add Water

That feeling you get when you realize that you forgot someone’s birthday is just the worst. You can set alarms and have alerts pop up, but if it slips your mind, it slips your mind, so it’s better to have a back-up plan in place for when it happens.

It doesn’t make much sense to have a bunch of generic gifts in your closet, but having some cake on hand is something doable. Plus, who doesn’t like cake on their birthday?

The Food Ministry’s Cake in a Can makes “baking” easy, since you’ll only have to pour water into it as they’re filled with cake mix for your chosen flavor. Go for lemon if you feel like something tart or go for chocolate because that’s everyone’s favorite. Better yet, stock up on a few different flavors because you never know when you might need to bake a cake.

Each of the tins are available from Not on the High Street for £5 (~$8.50 USD).

These Chocolate LEGO Bricks Are Functional – Until They Melt

Akihiro Mizuuchi is my new hero. He is an illustrator and a web developer in Shizuoka, Japan. That’s not all he does. He has created modular edible chocolate LEGO bricks. These chocolate bricks really stack. And you can eat them. Break me off a brick of that LEGO bar.

These chocolates are hard enough that you can actually build things as you eat. I’m sure they are so tasty that you would never get anything built though – which is a good problem to have.

The next logical step would be to team up with LEGO and sell them to the masses. Sadly, I haven’t heard anything about that, but it would be amazing.

Build ‘Em Then Eat ‘Em: Functional Chocolate LEGO Blocks

Functional Chocolate LEGO

So you’ve been taught not to play with your food. But what if those morsels you can chew are actually toys at the same time? Cue Akihiro Mizuuchi and his chocolate LEGO bricks. They look just like LEGO and work like LEGO, too. This means you can connect and stack them one upon the other to come up the final figure you had in mind.

Making them isn’t exactly rocket science, but it’s not that easy, either. Chocolate is basically poured into precise molds, where they are cooled before being popped out and used as bricks. The fun part is making them using various types of chocolate, include dark, white, and even strawberry-flavored.

You Can Build & Eat These Chocolate LEGO Bricks

You Can Build & Eat These Chocolate LEGO Bricks
Check out these chocolate LEGO bricks! They’re created by Akihiro Mizuuchi, a designer and illustrator. They’re actually functional so you can build with AND snack on them. Dream come true! Technically all LEGO bricks are edible, but they’re a real bitch to digest. They’re not so bad going down, but coming out is a real nightmare. […]

Cocoa Farmers Taste Chocolate For The First Time Ever

Cocoa Farmers Taste Chocolate For The First Time Ever
This is a video of Ivory Coast cocoa bean farmer N’Da Alphonse and his pals trying chocolate for the first time. It’s a real treat to see, though a little bittersweet (chocolate joke!!!). Who knew that the very people who harvested the beans have never even had the pleasure of tasting the fruits chocolate of […]

Chocolate Quadcopter: Willy Wonka’s UAV

We’ve seen quadcopters made from a bicycle rim, a keyboard and a dead cat. RIP Orville. That makes this quadcopter with a chocolate frame par for the course here at Technabob, but it certainly is the most delicious drone we’ve ever seen.

The frame was made by melting, molding and then freezing 1000g of dark chocolate and 100g of white chocolate. Also you have to be a dancing chef to make one.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this turns out to be a viral ad, but I think we’ll find out more soon. The anonymous uploader said they “…decided to reuse the mold and the other copter components to build at least one more “extraordinary” copter.”

Yes, You Can Eat This Colorful Chocolate

Unelefante-Chocolates-Gifts-Mexico-Design-2

Unelefante is a Mexican chocolate house that makes some very pretty edible things. We’re partial to the above chocolates, which the company calls the Pollock bars, as they’re inspired by the work of Jackson Pollock. Each one is hand-made and therefore unique, and a set of 3 sells for around $32.

Cravings: The Zero Calorie Chocolate

Most of us love chocolate, but like most candy, eating too much of it can make you fat and rot your teeth. But thanks to modern technology, you’ll soon be able to taste chocolate without consuming a single calorie.

Cravings are a new kind of edible treat that work to satisfy your desire for delicious flavors, but without sugar, fats or calories. Cravings work like those dissolvable breath strips, but instead of tasting like mouthwash, they taste yummy. In fact, the first flavor of Cravings in the works is everyone’s favorite – chocolate.

Ian Goldfarb, the man behind Cravings would love to create additional flavors down the road too. Those who purchase chocolate Cravings will get a chance to vote on the next flavor. Personally, I vote for the three-course dinner flavor from Willy Wonka.

Each pack of Cravings comes with 24 strips, and even if you down them all in one session, you won’t gain an ounce. Cravings is raising funds for production on Kickstarter between now and June 6. A $10 pledge will get you a single pack, while $25 will get you three packs, $45 buys you six and if you’re really a chocoholic, go for the 20-pack for $90, which will give you 480 strips of chocolate.

I haven’t had a chance to taste a sample of Cravings yet, so I can’t vouch for their flavor or aroma, but the idea seems like a great one, so I’m hoping they get produced.

Chocolate Toothpaste: Brush with Dessert

If only we could have had chocolate toothpaste when I was a kid. Well, the important thing is that they have it now. Theodent has a new line of fluoride-free, chocolate-flavored toothpaste. And this chocolate flavor isn’t just a novelty.

Theodent’s toothpaste formula contains a patented substance that is actually obtained from the cacao plant that gives it its chocolatey flavor. It’s called rennou, and don’t worry, it is safe to eat. Naturally, you want something safe in a chocolate toothpaste, because kids are going to be tempted to gulp this stuff down when they brush.

Theodent Classic is only $10, while the extra-strength version Theodent 300 is priced at a wallet-busting $100 a tube. Damn, those are dentist prices.
