Star Wars VII Crossguard Lightsaber 3D-Printed Replica Awakens

The jagged crossguard lightsaber seen in the Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens teaser had many folks scratching their heads. Instead of debating the plausibility of a fictional weapon in a universe where the Force and sarlaccs exist, the folks at 3D printing store Le FabShop gave in to the geek side and 3D printed a replica of the weapon.

The great thing about Le FabShop’s design is that it’s modular. You can mix and match different grips, bases, tops and bottoms as well as different beam colors.

13 Funny Takes on the New Star Wars Lightsaber

Menorah

While the internet had one huge nerdgasm over the new Star Wars trailer, not a lot of people were too happy with the new lightsaber, already known as the ‘crossguard lightsaber’.

‘Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens’ isn’t coming out for a whole year, but the excitement over every bit of information leaked out by J.J. Abrams causes huge title waves of reaction online.

Most people are simply excited that we’re getting a new chapter to the saga, but there were plenty of those who had to make fun of something that presents too drastic of a change in their opinion.

Lightsaber Blueprint Cross-stitch: Needle-aided Design

Last year we featured a cross-stitched Pokédex made by Sprite Stitch forum member Lord Libidan. Recently he shared one of his newer creations at the forum, a lightsaber blueprint. This one looks relatively simple, but Lord Libidan is planning to take his idea to larger-scale projects.

Hopefully he’ll share the blueprint of this blueprint, or at least sell it on his Folksy shop.

Star Wars Lightsaber Katana Combines Two Amazing Weapons

Katanas are the ancient weapons of warriors on Earth. Lightsabers are the ancient weapon of Jedi across the galaxy. Combine those weapons and you have one super awesome new weapons that bridges both worlds.

Man at Arms: Reforged asked the bladesmiths at Baltimore Knife and Sword to made this weapon a reality – minus the glowing energy blade of course. They just had to decide if they wanted to join the Dark Side and make a Sith version or choose the Light Side and go with a Jedi version. They saw it as a logical decision to go with the Sith.

The video shows how the team built the weapon. It’s an impressive build, with parts of the blade and strap mimicking the effects of a traditional Japanese swordsmith.

Lightsaber Keychain Flashlights Light the Way to The Light or Dark Side

Lightsabers are elegant weapons for a more civilized age. If you need to shed some civilized light on a dark situation, three Lightsaber keychain Flashlights have turned up at ThinkGeek. One of them looks like the Vader flashlight we saw back in 2009.

You can get the small flashlight in Vader, Luke, or Yoda versions. The bulbs are LED and the Yoda version is green, Vader is red, and Luke is blue.

Each of them is an officially licensed Star Wars collectable and includes three LR41 batteries for power. The Vader/Luke flashlights are 3.3″ long with the Yoda version being 2.8″ long. That’s just the right size for slashing an arm off your Wampa action figure.

The lightsaber flashlights sell for $14.99(USD) and are available from ThinkGeek now.

Darth Vader Lightsaber BBQ Fork: The Dark Side of the Fork

Earlier this year we showed you some slick lightsaber meat tongs. What you really need when you are grilling up some steak or hotdogs is a nice, long meat fork. ThinkGeek has a sweet new meat fork that looks like Darth Vader’s lightsaber.

The BBQ Fork has a lightsaber hilt as the handle and it is officially licensed Star Wars gear. The fork is made from stainless steel. The only real downside I see is that the fork is hand wash only.

Measurements for the fork are 1.5 inches in diameter and 20 inches long. It can only be shipped in the US and Canada – presumably because it might be mistaken for a weapon. It sells for $25(USD) over at ThinkGeek.

Star Wars Lightsaber Light-up Toothbrush: May the Plaque Be Without You

Prepare to get your teeth clean Star Wars style. This Star Wars light-up toothbrush looks awesome and does the job. Kids will love that it glows like a lightsaber. Parents will love that their kids actually want to brush.

It features a one minute timer and flashing lights to encourage longer brushing. It comes in Yoda, Anakin and Darth Vader variants. Recommended by dental professionals from a galaxy far, far away. Also by dentists in our galaxy.

You’ll notice that every Star Wars character still has his teeth. (Except for Jar-Jar because I punched them out.) They know the importance of brushing. Get one for $3.49 from GUM or a three-pack for $13.99 from Amazon, which includes all three colors.

LEGO Star Wars Lightsabers Concept: Every Hilt is Awesome

Scott Peterson loves lightsabers. He has a collection of different replicas, which include ones that he made out of LEGO. He presented his creations on LEGO Ideas last year and got the required 10,000 votes, which means there’s a chance that LEGO will release an official version of his creations.

Scott originally presented five lightsabers, but he eventually decided to narrow the set down to the two models that proved most popular: Luke’s and Darth Vader’s lightsabers. The hilts are roughly life-size and even have a crystal inside. Scott thinks it would be neat if they came with a display stand and minifigs of the Skywalkers.

Scott’s project will be one of the sets that LEGO will review this September. Keep your sabers crossed and Force Hope that the set will become official. In the meantime, drop by Scott’s Flickr page if you want to see more shots of the lightsabers.

Chopping In A Flash

The Lightsaber Knife is not exactly what every Star Wars fan would imagine it to be, however to its credit, it does have some sci-fi elements to it. The knife uses Liquidmetal to produce a perfect quality knife, one that slices, dices, chops and smashes with ease. A good quality knife can make or break a cooking experience and this knife features five different kinds of blades, so that you can enjoy the process.

You can switch blades via the touch screen and ensure only adults handle the knife thanks to the fingerprint scanning system. This ways the knife recognizes who is using it and keeps it safe for kids.
