Chocolate Toothpaste: Have Dessert, Brush, and Have Dessert Again

Theodent Chocolate Toothpaste

Remember how you wished that chocolate-flavored toothpaste existed back when you were still a kid? Well, you might have grown several feet since then but now Theodent has made that wish come true with their new line of fluoride-free, chocolate-flavored toothpaste. This probably isn’t the first time someone decided to make toothpaste that made it seem like you were brushing chocolate all over your teeth, but Theodent is different in the sense that the chocolate flavor isn’t there just for novelty’s sake.

Rather, it’s there because of Theodent’s toothpaste formulation that contains a patented substance obtained from the cacao plant that gives it its distinctive chocolatey flavor. It’s called rennou, and it’s non-toxic and safe-to-ingest (although you probably shouldn’t squeeze it and eat it right out of the tube), so you won’t have to worry about kids accidentally ingesting it while brushing.

Theodent Classic is sold at $10, while the extra-strength variant Theodent 300 is priced at a whopping $100.

Bake, Eat, Repeat: Bakeable Kit Kats

Baked Kit Kat

Have a break, have a Kit Kat! But if your break is longer than the average, then why settle for a regular Kit Kat when you can have a baked one? This latest offering is only available at Japan’s Kit Kat Chocolaterie and is dubbed as “Delicious When Baked Pudding Flavored Kit Kats.” They’re essentially mini-sized, pudding-flavored Kit Kats that you’re supposed to pop into the oven before eating.

When heated in a toaster, the sugar content in the chocolate hardens into a solid candy-like state faster than the chocolate on the surface melts, resulting in a chocolate and wafer biscuit combination with a texture resembling a cookie and a sweet caramelized smell.

Baked Kit Kat1

The good news is that you can make your own at home or at your workplace or wherever there’s a toaster. Kotaku offers up a quick how-to using regular Kit Kats, but you have to be careful during the heating process–otherwise you might end up with Kit Kats on fire.

Ever wish you could be rewarded for reading your emails? With the DIY Edible Email Notifier, every time you read an email, you get an M&M. Candy! Who can resist a sweet little piece of chocolate? Nobody. Send me more emails! Created by Kathryn McElroy, the EEN was made using an Arduino processor, a stepper motor, and of course a wine bottle.

The Arduino runs a script to check the number of unread messages on your computer ever 20 seconds. If the number goes down it means you’ve read an email and the motor moves and drops a reward M&M into the glass.

Of course now you have a great excuse for not reading someone’s email to you- “sorry I couldn’t read your email, I’m on a diet”. With the amount of emails I get, I’d be a blimp by the end of the week. Heck, I’d start sending emails to myself just to get an M&M.

iPhone 5/5S Case Made from Real Chocolate: Chocolate Covered Apple

You’ve probably seen iPhone cases shaped like chocolate bars. These on the other hand, are chocolate bars shaped like an iPhone case.

They are made by two Portland-based companies. Woodblock Chocolate supplied the bars of dark chocolate and iPhone and iPad accessory maker Grove machined the bars into cases. I know the Internet wants to get its hands on anything absurd, but the two companies have more sense than that and won’t be selling the tasty, but highly impractical cases.

Incredible Edible: Chocolate iPhone Case

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone in gadgetland. Today we have the most Portland of objects- a real chocolate iPhone case. Portland, OR based craft chocolate maker Woodblock Chocolate teamed up with Portland based handcrafted Apple accessory maker Grove to create a delicious if not slightly impractical iPhone 5 case out of solid chocolate. The case was precision milled out of a dark chocolate then hand sanded for a sleek finish.

Don’t worry, it was designed with a higher melting temperature so as not to melt in your hands. And by your hands, we mean someone else’s hands because these cases are not for sale (the chocolate gunks up the case-making machinery). You probably don’t want to eat anything off your iPhone anyway, those things are germ factories.

Dream Come True: TruMoo Chocolate Marshmallow Milk

TruMoo Chocolate Marshmallow Milk

Nothing is more soothing than a warm glass of milk before bedtime. It’s made better with a few generous squeezes of chocolate syrup. And the only thing that can top that is the addition of a handful of marshmallows. This three step process (counting the step where you actually heat the milk and pour it into a glass) is eliminated with the introduction of TruMoo’s Chocolate Marshmallow milk. As the name implies, it’s milk flavored with rich chocolatey marshmallow goodness.

Just pour and drink for a cold treat or pop it into the microwave for a few seconds for a warm, tasty drink. Unlike other hot chocolate mixes, TruMoo claims that each glass of Chocolate Marshmallow contains the same nutritional value as regular milk without the added corn syrup or hormones.

Chocolate Marshmallow will be available at major retails in the US for a limited time until the of February.
