Water to Wine Illusion Box: the Miracle of Air Pressure

Earlier this month we featured a concept for a device that turns water and other ingredients into wine. Jason Poel Smith’s hack on the other hand is more for laughs, and is easy to make on your own. Behold, brothers and sisters, a box that turns water into wine!

As you may have guessed, the wine that comes out of Jason’s contraption isn’t made from the water that’s poured in it. Inside the box are two soda bottles connected by small tubes. The first bottle is empty while the second one is filled with wine. When water is poured from the funnel, it pushes some of the air out of the first bottle. The air goes to the second bottle, where it pushes wine out of the box to make space for itself.

Head to Instructables to find out how you can make your own water to wine box. If you’re looking for a more polished or challenging variant, check out Party Robotics’ water to wine cooler.

When You Feel Like Having Coffee and Wine at the Same Time…

Sometimes, the mind wants one thing while the body needs something else. For example, you might be in the mood for some coffee, but you might already be so high-strung that what you actually need is a glass of wine instead.

You probably shouldn’t have both at once, but you can still get the best of both worlds with Friends Fun Wine’s new offerings.

They’re introducing two new flavors that incorporate the smoothness of wine with coffee’s distinct flavor and aroma: Cabernet Coffee Espresso and Chardonnay Coffee Cappuccino. Though if you were hoping for caffeine, you’ll have to go with a standard cup of joe – these wines have no actual coffee or caffeine in them.

Sounds intriguing in concept, but as for the taste – well, you’ll have to try it to find out.

Can’t decide if you’d like to unwind with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee? Friends Fun Wine is well aware of that fact, which is why they’ve come up with two new flavors that incorporate wine’s velvet smoothness with coffee’s distinct aroma that’ll give you a quick pick-me-up for sure: Cabernet Coffee Espresso and Chardonnay Coffee Cappuccino.

The coolest part about it? There’s zero caffeine and very little alcohol in the mix, plus it’s low on calories. As for the taste, well, that’s an entirely different story, but don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it.

A Wino’s Wet Dream!

Introducing, Vinaera – the world’s first electronic wine and spirit aerator! You need only insert the aerator into the bottle, press the top button and voila! It will dispense fully aerated red wine. In seconds you can enjoy the complex aromas, full flavors and rich textures with a smooth, less acid finish in 30-40 minutes faster than a glass decanter. For spirits, the oxidation through large surface exposure to bubbles releases fused alchohols, making them less spicy and bitter. See it in action —>

Chillaerator Cools Aerates and Pours Wine

Quickly chill your white wines to the perfect drinking temperature and then pour them with the Chillaerator. To use the Chillaerator, store it in the freezer ahead of time. When you’re ready to drink your wine, just place the cooling rod into your wine bottle and within minutes your wine is at the ideal temperature. Unlike other chilling rods, you don’t have to remove this one to pour out your wine. Just flip the nozzle open at the top and it will aerate your wine as you pour it out:

The advantage of this pouring spout is huge- your wine in the bottle will continue to be chilled even after you’ve filled a glass (or two or three) and the aeration open up the wine so you can taste the full complexity of the libation. It also works for red wines. While you don’t want to cool down reds as much as white wines, you certainly don’t want to be drinking overly warm wine that’s been sitting in a hot room or outside. Cool your reds down to room temperature in a flash. Wipe the Chillaerator clean when done and refreeze it for the next time. Neat.

Two in Wine

Ever wonder why there are different glasses for different wines? The idea is that each wine deserves its own type of glass to enhance its unique flavor, aroma and color. It’s an often overlooked part of the experience that every vino-enthusiast has come to appreciate. Inspired by this concept, the Doublet incorporates not one, but two of the more common types into one beautiful, seamless, stemless piece. Even if you’re not a wine snob, you can clear out some cabinet space with this artistic two-in-one alternative!

The Miracle Machine Turns Water into Wine, Kinda.

A lot of people out there really enjoy brewing their own beer. There are plenty of kits out there that make it easy to make your own brew and get drunk without having to trek down to the convenience store. If your preferred drink is wine, the process of making your own drink is a bit more challenging.

A company has turned up with a device they call The Miracle Machine that promises to turn your water into wine at home. This device isn’t performing a real miracle; rather it is using technology and some raw ingredients to speed up the creation of wine. In addition to water, you’ll need grape concentrate, yeast, and a sachet of other ingredients – all of which its maker is happy to sell you for about $10 a month.

The hardware has an array of sensors along with heaters, pumps, and transducers inside a large carafe device. You put in the water and other raw ingredients to make your preferred type of wine. Inside the device is an Arduino controller which syncs with a mobile app to tell you all you need to know about making the wine and keeping an eye on your wine as it ferments.

Its makers say that you can buy kits to make a full bottle of wine with about $2 worth of ingredients, though it’ll take a while for the $499 Miracle Machine to pay for itself. The Miracle Machine will go on sale via a Kickstarter project. If you’re interested in learning when it’s available for pre-order, you can sign up here.
