Mighty Mug Promises You’ll Never Spill Your Coffee Ever Again

How many mugs have you broken this year? If you answer two or more, then you’re a certified klutz and you shouldn’t be using glassware anymore. You’re probably better off with something like the Mighty Mug.

Mighty Mug

It’s a sturdier-than-usual mug of sorts that’s BPA-free and recommended for the uncoordinated and klutzy.

The secret lies in its “Smartgrip” base. To activate it, you’re supposed to flex and flick the grippy pad with your fingers before setting it down. Once it’s been set down, the Mighty Mug “grips” the surface and you won’t be able to knock it down or knock it over, even if you tried to do so on purpose.

When you’re ready to take a sip, just lift it by its handle and voila! It’s loose and ready for you to drink from.

Mighty Mug is dishwasher and microwave safe and is available from ThinkGeek for $14.99(USD).

A Drip-Free World!

It’s no secret that the caffeine craving experienced by us coffee lovers is strong enough to risk having a ruined table or smeared papers! But now, that’s a thing of the past! The Drop Rest mug is an ingenious design that catches drips before they make it to the paper or surface of your desk. Capitalizing on the physics of surface tension, a thin groove keeps small, nuisance droplets in place so there’s no need to worry about coffee stains. So simple, it makes you wonder why you didn’t think of it first!

Earless Mug

As funny as the name might sound, the Earless Mug is a clever and functional twist on the everyday object that coffee addicts will appreciate! Instead of a handle (or “ear”), the design incorporates space to rest the spoon so it doesn’t poke the user in the face when drinking and eliminates the need for a saucer. Space-saving, stackable, and material-conscious, it goes to show that even the most simple of objects can be hybridized for practical improvement!

You’ll (H.P.) Love this Cthulhu Goblet (Craft)

A few weeks back, we told you about some awesome ice cream cups and mugs that look like zombies. Well the guys behind that Kickstarter project are also working on a cool goblet, inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos.

cthulhu goblet 1

Created in collaboration with the guys behind the Achtung!Cthulhu RPG, this ghastly green ceramic goblet is the perfect pimp cup for those times when you’re feeling evil. It’s a pretty awesome looking vessel, though it really needs some wings on it so it can truly fit the description of the Lovecraftian monster.

If you pledge at least £20 (~$31 USD) over on Kickstarter before this Sunday, April 28th, you’ll be able to get your very own Cthulhu goblet (in either ice cream cup or beer mug variants.)

NOTA Coffee Mug Keeps Spoons in Their Place

I’ve had the unpleasant experience of having the spoon hit the tip of my nose as I sipped my morning coffee. Of course, I could just take the spoon out and throw it in the sink, but I like stirring my coffee once in a while.

For years, this first-world problem has bugged people and injured noses more than you think. And at last, a worthwhile solution has finally emerged in the form of the NOTA Coffee Mug.

NOTA Coffee Mug

Contrary to what its name might indicate, the NOTA Coffee Mug is, in fact, a coffee mug. What sets it apart is the special groove that lets coffee, tea, cocoa, or [insert your preferred beverage here] drinkers take a sip without injuring their noses in the process.

The NOTA Coffee Mug was designed by Lee Hae Seung Scott. If people can make stuff like the Shark Attack mug, then I don’t see why they can’t make this one happen.

Zombie Head Ice Cream Cups and Beer Mugs: Fancy a Cup o’ Brains?

Zombie fans, check out these fun Zombie head ice cream cups and beer mugs. The ice cream cups allow you to eat their cool chilled brains instead of them eating ours.

While the ice cream bowls are shallow so you can see the ice cream brains sticking out. The beer mugs look pretty awesome too, with hatchets and pistols and stuff stabbed through their heads, doubling as handles.

Any zombie fan would love to have these in their kitchen and display them proudly.

If you like them, you can help fund the project. A pledge of £15 (~$23 USD) will get you a single zombie ice cream cup or mug. And for those of you who prefer Cthulhu to zombies, you can go for the Lovecraftian version for £20 (~$31 USD). The project is already well on its way to reaching its £15,000 (~$23,000 USD) goal and still has 18 days to go.

Necessity, The Mother Of An Innovative Mug

Designer ‘Scott ‘ observed that the coffee and tea drinkers at the hawker center in Singapore were served their ‘teh’ (tea) or ‘kopi’ (coffee) in local styled cups, sans saucers. The problem with this is that the beverage is served using condensed milk, which is heavy and settles at the bottom of the cup. As a result the coffee-drinker has to stir the drink several times, and this gets annoying since they have no sanitary place to put down their spoon, and have to place it inside their cup.

The NOTA Coffee Mug allows the user to keep the spoon within their cup, tucked into a niche. This ways the coffee drinker gets to enjoy their drink without the spoon annoying them. Simple and clever!

Red Solo Cups Morph to the Occasion

Red Solo cups are a staple at every party – except at fancy ones, that is. They’ve become sort of like a symbol for parties where alcohol is particularly abundant. This image was no doubt bolstered by movies which show everyone chugging down from a red cup with the music playing full-blast.

But who says red cups are only for holding beer or punch?

If Red Cup Living had their way, you’d be using red cups at your fancy dinners, too. They’ve recently reconfigured the iconic red cup into all sorts of other cups that frequent alcohol consumers would almost immediately recognize. In addition to the traditional tumblers, there’s a 14 oz. wine cup, a 15 oz. margarita cup, a 12 oz. cocktail cup, an 8 oz. wine cup, and a 2 oz. shooter cup. Unlike the cheap originals, these ones are crafted from durable, double-walled, break-resistant ABS plastic and are dishwasher-safe.

There’s even a 12 oz. coffee mug which you can use the morning after, made from stoneware instead of plastic.

The cups debuted last week at the International Housewares Association show and they’re already available for sale online, with prices ranging from $4 to $10(USD) each.

The MiiR Tumbler: Drink Coffee & Give People Drinking Water

I love drinking coffee, and as such, I’ve tried many different ways to reduce the cost of my addiction. For one, I rarely drink coffee from coffee shops, preferring to make my own and take it to work. As such, I need a good portable mug to get the job done.

The Tumbler from MiiR may look like an ordinary insulated coffee cup, but what makes it special is that when you purchase one, you will not only get the Tumbler, you’ll be giving someone clean drinking water for a year! The Tumbler was launched as a project on Indiegogo, and its goal is to provide as many people access to clean drinking water as possible.

The stainless steel Tumbler is insulated with double-walled construction, and a BPA-free plastic sipper lid. Each one comes with a tracking bracelet, which allows you to track the impact of your purchase on getting clean water to people.

The project has already surpassed its modest $10,000 funding goal, and a pledge of $20(USD) or more will buy your MiiR Tumbler.

Build-on Brick Mug Lets You Build Your Own Cup of Joe

Geeky coffee drinkers can now construct their own mug thanks to a cool new coffee cup from ThinkGeek, called the Build-on Brick Mug. The coffee cup has all the little bumps and holes you need to attach building blocks from LEGO and other manufacturers to the outside.

build mug

While it’s not officially-licensed by any building block manufacturers, the 12 ounce mug is compatible with LEGO, PixelBlocks, MegaBlocks, KRE-O, and K’Nex Bricks. Keep in mind that it doesn’t ship with any blocks, you have to provide your own. But you’re reading Technabob, so you must have at least a few bricks kicking around the house, right?

It’s made from sturdy BPA-free plastic, which can hold up to the heat of a cup of coffee or tea, but it isn’t advised to put it in the microwave or dishwasher – unless you’re in the market for a blob of melted plastic. You can buy the Build-on Brick mug now for $19.99(USD) over at ThinkGeek.
