4 Classic Video Game Inspired Tile Designs
If you’re looking to geek up your bathroom or kitchen why not take advantage of the fact that square tiles are perfect for creating mosaics with? UK based Topps Tiles came up with a few fresh ideas to turn your home into an 8-bit wonderland. Like the Pac-Man design above with the well-placed clock in the center. Or Mega Man:
That one looks a bit more complicated to create, being 16 bits and so many colors. But I could see it in a kid’s bathroom or mancave bathroom. Make it simpler with the oldest of the old school- Pong!
I like that design- it’s geeky but not in-your-face. Almost subtle. Lastly is the Space Invaders tile job:
Maybe I wouldn’t have placed that picture right over the design. Pretty cool tiling inspiration ideas there, you could take this idea and run with it- finding the perfect 8-bit retro game for your room design.
Super Mario Side Table
I wish I could furnish my entire house in 8-bit furniture. I’d even walk around in pixelized clothing, just for fun. High on my wishlist is this Super Mario Side Table. The table top is made from furniture grade wood and the center stem is made from PVC pipe- you wouldn’t expect any less from a princess finding plumber. There’s even a nice little touch with the star serving as the base.
Now the catch (and there’s always a catch, right?)- it’s already been sold. Arrrgh. I guess that leaves two options- either contact the seller and have them make another one-of-a-king retro gaming table or start gathering an assload of pushpins and make one myself. Or just sit here on the couch and dream some more 8bit dreams. Probably the latter.
Click Button Arcade Watch: Time for a High Score
These Click Button Arcade Watches look just like you’re wearing an arcade game button. Pew pew. And like those 8 bit games of yesteryear, you can press the button! In fact you have to press it if you want to actually see the time:
It’s an easy-to-read LED screen. Looks like we still have time to save the princess from a giant ape, dig out an underground tunnel, save the Earth from invaders, or chomp some ghosts. The case is made of a glossy polycarbonate with a silicone strap in matching colors. Choice of five colors. Game over.
