Mattel’s Jurassic Park T-Rex Eating Lawyer in Outhouse Playset

Unveiled at Comic-Con 2022, Mattel has created an official Jurassic Park toy of the t-rex eating lawyer Donald Gennaro as he attempts to hide inside an outhouse. A classic cinema moment for sure. The $80 playset includes a 3.75″ Gennaro action figure, a significantly larger t-rex, along with destructible outhouse with lighting and sound effects, sure to provide hours of lawyer-eating fun.

Between Gennaro getting eaten on the can and Dennis Nedry getting spat on by the dilophosaurus, it was nice seeing those jerks get their just desserts. Sure, you could argue that nobody deserves to be eaten by dinosaurs, but you would be wrong. Those guys did. Plus several other people I know.

Unfortunately for those seriously interested, the playset appears to have already sold out, so expect to pay a pretty penny for one in the resale market. Or just cross your fingers and hope to pick one up at a garage sale in ten years. That’s what I’m doing. Either way, I’ll be saving myself a small fortune.

Soul of Animal GX Go Kitten Super Robot Action Figure: Sweded Voltron

Taiwanese toy shop Bid Toys won toymaker of the year in my books with its Soul of Animal GX Go Kitten, a parody of the OG Voltron that replaces the Lion Force with cats and boxes. As an olive branch to competitors, the action figure can’t disassemble into separate cats and boxes. Otherwise, all other toymakers would’ve had to shut down and think about what they’re even doing with their lives.

The 7″-tall action figure has articulated arms and wings, and its head can also be twisted to reveal a henohenomoheji.

Those feet cats have to be named 2020 and 2021. You can pre-order the Soul of Animal GX GOo Kitten from BigBadToyStore for $80 (USD). Curiously, the online store mentions that this figure is “[p]art of the Soul of Animal line.” What’s next? A crocodile Mazinger Z? A fennec fox Getter Robo? The possibilities are, well, they’re not endless, but they’re fun to think about.

Funko Turbo Man Action Figure Reissue: It’s Scalper Time!

Someone at Walmart slipped up, and Christmas has come early for toy collectors. A few lucky shoppers were able to grab what appears to be a 2021 reissue of the Turbo Man action figure from Arnold Schwarzenegger’s classic holiday movie Jingle All the Way, in which the action star plays a dad who goes to great lengths to obtain the fictional (and shortly real) toy for his son.

According to The Toyark, this Walmart exclusive is 13″ tall and sells for $35 (USD). Curiously, toy store Stop N Shop Funko Pop has a listing for a Turbo Man action figure, but the listing says it’s 10″ tall and will go for $30 this October. Whatever the case, a few units of the reissue have inevitably popped up on eBay, including the picture above, from seller austinamaya, who is asking for an eye-watering $299. That’s a lot of cookies.

Super7 Yasuke Action Figures: Posing Ronin

Retro toy maker Super7 has released the first wave of collectibles based on Netflix’s new anime series Yasuke. The collection includes three 6″ vinyl action figures – Yasuke, Natsumaru, and Ahujah – and three 3″ super-deformed figures – Yasuke in armor, Natsumaru, and Nikita in beast mode.

According to Super7, the 6″ toys are based on Japanese hang-tag figures. Along with the chibi ones, they make for a collection that looks like it came from the land of samurai.

The toys are available for pre-order exclusively on Target. The 6″ figures cost $20 (USD) each while the 3″ figures each go for $10 (USD).

These Miniature Boss Chairs Give Action Figures a Place to Sit

Let’s face it, life as an action figure is hard. You just stand around all day, and occasionally somebody picks you up and bends your stiff joints to their whim. Their muscles have got to ache from all of that. What your action figures need is a place to rest after a long day’s work. These miniature boss chairs should do the trick.

These teensy office chairs from Jiaou Doll look just like the fancy ones in the executive offices at your work. But these ones are 1/6th scale, making them the perfect home for your larger, 12″ tall action figures. Each chair is impressively detailed, and is made from ABS, PVC and a little bit of metal.

All three are available from BigBadToyStore, and sell for $26.99 each. If you don’t think your action figure deserves something quite so nice, you could always get them some cheap folding chairs instead.

Star Wars Action Figures Go Retro

If you love the original Star Wars saga, you might remember the classic action figures that Kenner made back in the 1978. While Kenner is long gone, Hasbro has picked up the baton and created a new series of 3.75″ action figures, inspired by the highly collectible originals.

The Star Wars Retro Collection Wave 1 comes with six action figures, based on Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, and a Stormtrooper. Unlike today’s detailed and highly articulated figures, these ones are intentionally inaccurate likenesses, and only have six points of articulation.

Like the original figures, both Luke and Vader have telescoping lightsabers. Each figure comes with a retro style 6″ x 9″ cardback, which has been given a faux aged look.

Entertainment Earth is taking pre-orders for the set of six figures for $63.99, with shipping expected to start in August 2019. They also are selling an exclusive figure of Han Solo disguised in Stormtrooper armor, just like he work in A New Hope. That figure is being sold separately for $13.99. That one ships starting in September.

I Need This Gigantic Godzilla in My Life

Do you like Godzilla? I mean do you REALLY, REALLY like Godzilla? Then you’re going to want to start saving your money for this epic collectible from the X-PLUS Gigantic series.

This monstrous PVC kaiju figure measures in at a whopping 38.19″ long, and 18.5″ tall, and will look awesome on your desktop or bookshelf – assuming you have the space for it. Maybe the dining table is a better option. I love the idea of a Godzilla centerpiece surrounded by tiny buildings for it to stomp on. This thing is incredibly detailed. Just look at those razor-sharp teeth and deadly-looking spiny bits down its back and tail.

Pre-orders start in Japan today, with the monster selling for 66,000 yen – or about $610 here in the U.S. It’s not available for pre-order yet, but there’s a good chance you’ll be able to get one from Entertainment Earth or Big Bad Toy Store closer to its release.

Super7 Deluxe Ren & Stimpy Figures: Happy Happy Joy Joy!

The Ren & Stimpy Show is still one of my favorite animated programs of all time. It was just the right combination of silly, absurd, gross, and weird. While the Nickelodeon series might have been off the air for years, it’s still a classic, and the characters are still awesome. If you’re a Ren & Stimpy fan like me, check out these sweet action figures which were recently announced.

These 6-inch figures from Super7 feature the likenesses of the show’s eponymous asthma hound chihuahua and blue-nosed kitty. They’re better than bad, they’re good! What I really love about the figures are the interchangeable facial expressions and all of the little accessories. Stimpy even gets a litter box and a bag of Gritty Kitty Litter.

The figures aren’t due out until March 2020, but you can preorder them now over on Entertainment Earth for $39.99 each.

Arya Stark Action Figure Says Not Today to the Action Figure of Death

Arya Stark went from a rather petulant child to a full-on badass over the years on Game of Thrones. Fans of the show who watched the behind the scenes documentary that aired after the finale might have forgotten just how young she was when the show first started. This action figure of Arya is based on her appearance in the seventh season of the HBO series.

The 6″ McFarlane toys figure has 12 points of articulation and comes with accessories. It includes Needle, a Valyrian steel dagger, and other “screen accurate” accessories. It would probably shag any Gendry action figures in the vicinity, and be sure not to let it near your Night King action figures. It’s available for pre-order now for $19.99 at Entertainment Earth.

Destroy ‘N Devour Indominus Rex Will Eat Your Action Figures

If you got excited at the idea of that sweet Jurassic World raptor toy that was on sale back in December, Mattel’s latest dino might also float your boat. At the 2018 New York Toy Fair last month, it unveiled an awesome toy called the Destroy ‘N Devour Indominus Rex from Jurassic World.

This isn’t as high tech as that robot raptor by any means, but it’s perfectly-sized to tower over any 3.75-inch action figures and gulp them up. It even has a light in the mouth that glows so you can watch the action figure go down its gullet.
