Adam Savage Shows off Awesome Blade Runner Blimp Replica
One of the coolest things about Blade Runner was its future environment. And in that universe, we saw those cool floating advertising blimps. Sadly, these futuristic airships still haven’t become a reality, so it’s up to us to create them if we want them. Fortunately, Adam Savage and Kayte Sabicer of Tested have done just that, creating an awesome mini replica of the floating billboards.
While Adam led the project, it’s clear from the video that Kayte did most of the heavy lifting on this build, so kudos, Kayte! It took many months of work and it shows. This thing is full of detail and yes, it even displays on its built-in video screen. Plug it in, and an ad comes up for the Off-World Colonies where you can begin again in a land of golden opportunity. Inside, it has fiber-optics and a color wheel inside so that its lights change just like they did in the movie. It even uses the original video files and sound files from the film. And since it was built to half-scale of the original movie model, it required much more precision to put it all together.
You can check out a few more detail images of this amazing build below, courtesy of Norman Chan.
I want this thing so badly. Sadly it’s one of a kind. Maybe I can capture Adam and Kayte and lock them in my basement until they make me one? Is that going too far? God, this thing is gorgeous.
Adam Savage Modifies a NERF Blaster, Gives It 1,000 Shot Capacity
Is there anything that Adam Savage has not created or modified or tinkered with? Probably not. His latest great creation is a one-day modification of a NERF Rival Nemesis ball blaster, with which he added a custom 1,000 round magazine. Adam has a lot of balls to make this project. NERF balls.
The original blaster only holds 100 rounds, so this is quite the upgrade. But that’s not all Adam did. He also added a bi-pod, a red-dot scope, and gave it an awesome custom paint job.
As you can see by the end of the video, it’s really good for shooting people in dinosaur costumes. My question is who cleaned up the balls after? I apologize, I know that sounds dirty, but it’s a valid question. There are balls all over the floor. I bet he made the dinosaur clean them up. That poor dino never gets a break.
This gun looks awesome and it does a great job shooting with the extended magazine. Come on NERF, why can you not sell cool things like this? If Adam can do it, so can you. And you can charge me whatever you want.

Adam Savage Ogles Ghost in the Shell’s Incredible Robot Skeleton
Adam Savage might not be on Mythbusters anymore, but you can still watch him on YouTube on Tested. On the latest episode of the series, Savage goes to practical effects shop Weta Workshop to check out the skeleton suit they made for the new Ghost in the Shell movie.
I honestly figured that the Major’s robot skeleton was done in CGI, but there’s a real prop version too, and it is awesome. It’s made from a mix of more than 300 interconnected, 3D-printed, laser-cut, and hand modeled components. Apparently, there’s a ballistic gel “skin” that can be layered over it as well, but we haven’t seen that yet.
Savage and Weta Workshop tech Jared Healy go through all of the ins and outs of the skeleton in the video below:
And if you didn’t watch them already, check out Adam’s videos of Ghost in the Shell’s thermoptic suit and some of the films other awesome props:
I saw the preview for the film before Logan and John Wick 2 and it looks pretty interesting. Sure, it’s taking lots of flack from fans of the anime it is based on, but it is hard to argue with a movie that puts Scarlett Johansson in a skin tight bodysuit.
Adam Savage Builds a Ping Pong Machine Gun
Adam Savage will never stop building awesome things. Why would he? The man has the coolest job in the world. He gets to play all day and come up with cool new toys and make them a reality. His latest project is for Tested’s One Day Builds series, in which he built an awesome ping pong machine gun, using a leaf blower as its source of air.
He wanted to build this rapid-firing ping pong ball weapon since he was a child, and it looks like he’s fully achieved his big dream. This weapon will be used in his and Michael Steven‘s (Vsauce) upcoming touring show Brain Candy Live. Judging by this build, we don’t want to miss it.
If you don’t have the time to watch the whole build, you can skip to 18:25 to see it in action.
The ping pong machine gun really should be involved in some kind of new Olympic sport, where teams shoot each other over long tables and score points.

Adam Savage Builds a Walking Strandbeest
Adam Savage is like a modern day Leonardo Da Vinci. I don’t think there’s anything he can’t do. This time, for the latest project in Tested’s One Day Builds series, he built a pedal-powered walking Strandbeest!
Obviously, the build was inspired by the walking machines of Dutch artist Theo Jansen, who gave Savage some advice about how to build one of his own. This was an interesting project for Adam Savage since he assembled his own design as an Artist in Residence at the Exploratorium science museum in San Francisco. The outdoor build was open for to the public, so he had to test and problem-solve the build on site. No pressure.
He did a great job, but as you’ll see in the video, things get tricky thanks to some shoelaces getting stuck, and miscalculation or two. In the words of Mr. Savage himself: “Failure is always an option.”

Adam Savage Converts a Honda Ridgeline Into a Movie Theater
Seriously, is there anything that Adam Savage can’t do? He is always amazing us with his projects. His latest build is a collaboration with Honda, in which he and the Tested crew converted a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck into a portable movie theater.
It is an awesome off-roading movie theater, perfect for camping. The inflatable movie theater packs up for travel and deploys on-site at the campground whenever you need it. Forget roughing it. Enjoy a movie while you are in the great outdoors. It’s reminiscent of the failed Kickstarter project for Hitch Theater, but Adam’s seems to be much easier to set up.
This video is the first in a series where members of the Tested team modify the Ridgeline to meet the requirements for their craziest camping desires. I wonder what they’ll do next.

Adam Savage Builds a Car Seat for His Puppies
Mythbusters may be over, but Adam Savage never seems to rest. He is always creating new and cool things. His latest project was to build a seat for his dogs that could go in the back of his brand new car and protect the leather interior. The end result is the perfect car seat for dogs. You might want to make one for your own car.
He needed a seat that wouldn’t move around in the car or get pushed out of the way when the dogs moved around. When you think about it, that is a pretty tall order. Dogs are strong and they get excited. He came up with this thick, custom plush pad that covers the entire seat. It is secured with dowels in the space between the seat and the seat back. The dogs can lay down and walk around without ripping up the leather interior now.
And it turns out that it’s pretty easy to make, as long as you have the supplies. This is a pretty cool solution for people with dogs.

Adam Savage Builds Overlook Hotel Maze Model from The Shining
Adam Savage is always working on some kind of cool project. The man never seems to slow down. For a recent feature on Tested, Adam designed and built an impressively accurate replica of the hedge maze from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.
The maze model from The Overlook Hotel is only seen briefly in the movie, but Adam still managed to use reference screenshots from the film to painstakingly recreate it. The finished product took him nearly a month to build, and looks pretty accurate to me – he even included some tiny figures to help bring it to life, and every little hedge surface has been hand-flocked.
As usual, Adam takes a project and knocks it out of the park. It makes me want to watch the movie again.
