BPMP is a portable amplifier concept you can easily carry on your back

Music has different effects on different people, but the fact is that it always has some effect. At the very least, it can poke interest in the listener or admiration for the talented artist filling the air with notes. Despite how efficacious music can be, many will argue, especially parents, that it’s hard to make money from music, not unless you make it big in the industry. That said, there are people who make and perform music out of pure passion, though it definitely doesn’t hurt to get a few kind donations in the process. Street musicians and performers are not an uncommon sight in any country, and most of them have the same problem when it comes to carrying heavy equipment. Amplifiers, for example, are necessary yet so inconvenient, but this design envisions such a gear that can help make life easier for these “buskers.”

Designer: JiHoon Park

We’ve come a long way from the large boxes known as amplifiers that can only be moved using a cart. There are plenty of more portable solutions these days that can help musicians who perform in public to move from one spot to another more easily. Despite their significantly smaller sizes, though, these amps often still come in bulky boxes that you carry awkwardly with one hand, leaving you with only one other hand to carry everything else.

It would be more convenient if you could sling the amplifier on your back like a backpack, but its boxy design makes that next to impossible, if not painful. Thankfully, technology and manufacturing have reached a point where that is finally possible, at least in theory. BPMP, then, is a concept that tries to cram as much hardware inside a package that you can comfortably wear on your back. Even better, it’s not something you’d be ashamed to be seen with.

Instead of the typical box design, BPMP uses a flatter “squircle” or square circle shape with one side bulging slightly outward. The flat side is designed like a typical backpack, with shoulder straps and soft fabric material that cushions your back a bit. Unless you know better, you might mistake this as one of those hard shell backpacks that are gaining popularity in some quarters.

The reimagining of the portable amp doesn’t stop there, though. For example, there’s also a handle that swings down to become the amplifier’s adjustable stand. The top edge holds the knobs and sliders for controlling the audio equipment, just like what you’d find in a normal amplifier.

1

There’s no denying that, in addition to being very portable, BPMP looks quite attractive to the point that you might not even believe that it’s an amplifier. Then again, it might be questionable whether you can cram that much audio hardware and electronics to make it function as a proper amplifier, nor does it guarantee that the quality of audio output won’t be affected by this unconventional design. Still, it’s an avenue worth exploring, especially if it will get buskers more attention for their already captivating performance.

AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Concept looks elegant with its retro aesthetic appeal

Concept AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Design

The world will never get tired of seeing new speakers or amplifiers introduced. As the world gets older, technological progress is expected.

The latest concept design is the AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier, published by designers from Kiev, Ukraine. Max Mysechko and Artemiy Drobyazko of Qvarta Studio have worked on this  concept product design that makes an impression with its simple yet elegant look.

Designers: Max Mysechko and Artemiy Drobyazko (Qvarta Studio)

Concept AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier

AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Product Design

The black and gold color combination of the Concept AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier makes for a beautiful and clean aesthetic. The two shades used on the product are contrasting, creating a pleasing effect on the eye. The amplifier system doesn’t really appear like any other audio systems we know, although at first glance, they look like ordinary black boxes with a hint of gold.

What makes the AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier interesting is the control box. It reminds us of old audio systems with a punch of retro-modern style. The designers seem to know what they are doing, especially with the combined creativity we have seen in their old projects.

AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Design Concept

AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Design

The designers aren’t strangers to us as we have seen their previous works already. Max Mysechko once showcased the Bamboo Food Steamer— a design he made with Artemiy Drobyazko of Qvarta. The two also worked on the UV Irradiator. The two also designed the Strixie Monitor for newborns and the Heatlie companion cup. The SeaVoice FRS-radio headset was showcased a few years ago and is followed by the Periscope Mask.

AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Specs

AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Speaker

The specs are not mentioned, but on the control box, we see control knobs for Volume, Treble, Bass, and A1/A2/A3, plus an AUX-IN port. On the rear, we see several ports for connection. A portion of the control box is transparent, so you can see the components inside. There’s some sort of light that we’re assuming illuminates whenever the amplifier is turned on.

The concept product appears to be one powerful audio system. It should be to complement the elegant design of the AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier. It’s ideal for the home and can fit most interiors with its retro aesthetic style.

AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier Product Design

The AMPIEQ Sound Amplifier reminds us of the #001 TOKYO vacuum tube amplifier from Puddle Sound. The whole audio system comes with two speaker boxes and one control box. We believe Qvarta Studio will introduce more concept product designs, and we’re here to check them out for you. We value these designers from Ukraine, especially in this season.

BREEZE Guitar Amp also works as a modern minimalist instrument stand

BREEZE Guitar Amp Design

The pandemic has brought out the best and worst in people. Several hobbies have been started to occupy our minds during those boring days at home. Being locked down for many months can drive anyone crazy so like many people around the world, you have probably discovered new skills.

Many people have learned how to bake and cook. Others have started gardening or a workout routine. Many people discovered they have talents in dancing (thank you, Tiktok!), singing, or playing an instrument. If you’re one of those many who learned how to play the guitar, you may have gotten yourself a nice guitar already. But have you bought an amplifier yet? If your answer is no, then you may start checking out what’s available out there.

Designer: JOOM DESIGN and Weekend-works

BREEZE Guitar Amp

We’re hoping someday this BREEZE Guitar Amp concept by JOOM DESIGN and Weekend-works will become a reality. We like the idea of a light and compact amplifier you can easily bring anywhere. However, it’s more of a personal indoor guitar amp. It may be good enough for entertainment during house parties or when you simply want to jam with your family and friends.

The BREEZE Guitar Amp is designed with a mix of metal, marble, and fabric. The metal is found on the main amplifier’s body while a marble platform or base holds it. If it’s marble, we’re guessing it will be a bit heavy. A fabric is used as a cover of the speaker and appears to be ready in different colors. Unlike the usual guitar amplifier, this one looks stylish like most speakers released in the market.

BREEZE Guitar Amp Concept

The BREEZE guitar amp is for the home only. It’s not something for professional use or for paying gigs but it may be good to use if you simply want to let your music be heard by the people around you. The concept product also doubles as a guitar stand, thanks to the two feet and legs that can hold the instrument.

BREEZE Guitar Amp Concept Design

The main amplifier has a round shape and is ready to give a fuller volume. Compared to the usual square amplifiers, the circle amp appears to be minimalist and modern. It comes with a separate controller where you can control the volume, bass, treble, gain, and effects. You can hang the guitar amplifier when not in use and it will look like a round speaker. Now it may be better if it can also work as a Bluetooth speaker.

The amp features a versatile design and is a stylish space-saver. It can house your precious guitar when you’re done practicing those guitar scales you’ve been wanting to perfect. When not in use, it can also serve as a nice-looking home decor.

This handmade wooden amplifier is ditching the notion that all guitar amps should be ‘black boxes’

If you really think about it, there’s no reason for amps to look the way they do. Somewhere down the line Marshall or Fender just embraced the black box style and it became an unsaid rule that all guitar amplifiers should be perfectly cuboidal and pitch-black with a faux leather texture. Guitar amps have been in line for a visual upgrade for quite some time now, and Belgium-based boutique amp brand has just the answer. Partnering with designer Joeri Claeys, the amp-makers have unveiled the GT Deluxe, a soft, minimal, earthy amp that uses bent plywood for a radically fresh aesthetic. The GT Deluxe doesn’t fit into the archetype of your regular guitar amp – it sports a rounded-rectangle design that feels as refreshing as the rounded rectangle icons on the iPhone did after years of square icons on Nokia phones. The amp’s rounded edges give it a distinctly warm appearance that fits well in studios, jam-rooms, or at house concerts. The amps still stack one above another, retaining their modular functionality.

Designed to usher a renaissance moment for guitar amps, the GT Deluxe embraces its wooden aesthetic. It comes with a black fabric clad on the front (as opposed to the grilles seen on regular amps) with Da Capo’s logo embroidered on, and has a beautiful leather-strap handle that lets you carry it around. “The main focus was on creating a minimalistic contemporary guitar amp that suits every interior”, Claeys mentioned. “Since most guitar amplifiers have looked the same for years, it was time to rethink its form for today’s musician.”

Each GT Deluxe cabinet comes made from Beechwood veneer that’s first bent into its signature rounded-rectangle shape before being finished to perfection using CNC machining. It’s capped off with an authentic leather handle on the top, and the formed front and back panels are wrapped with a black textile by Scandinavian brand Kvadrat. The dashboard on the top even comes with its own hidden LED backlight system that illuminates the controls, making it easy to find the right button when playing in half-lit rooms.

For the musically inclined, the GT Deluxe comes with switchable 20-watt Studio and 40-watt Stage outputs, and houses a 12” Celestion Alnico Cream speaker on the inside. Intuitive controls on the top let you calibrate the guitar’s sound, controlling your regular Bass/Mid/Treble/Reverb, as well as more unique controls like Pre-Gain and Headroom that give the musician a hands-on tube-amp tone-sculpting experience. The GT Deluxe can even be used as a pedalboard platform by hooking in effects pedals through the inputs/outputs on the back, and a Mic Out that lets you output your guitar’s sound to a DAW for recording, mastering, or sampling!

Marshall’s first True Wireless Earbuds are here and they look like an audiophile’s wet-dream!

So far, most TWS Earphones we’ve seen have been released by tech companies… and if there’s anything we’ve learnt, is that tech companies aren’t really great when it comes to the actual audio performance. TWS earbuds can’t really stand up to well-engineered, fine-tuned audio gear from true-blue audio companies… so when Marshall steps into the TWS earbud game, you best believe that they’ll bring their 59-years worth of audio firepower into the hardware they design.

Meet the Mode II, Marshall’s first TWS earbuds, designed with the promise to deliver a “thunderous audio experience” with “growling bass, natural-sounding mids and crisp treble,” pumped out through its custom-tuned dynamic 6 mm drivers. The drivers sit within the earphones’ tiny yet ergonomic enclosure. The Mode II comes with four earbud tips to choose from for that perfect fit, and the earphones themselves are designed to be IPX4 water-resistant, which means you can descend into an incredibly sweaty moshpit with them.

Although compact, the Mode II earphones wonderfully reflect Marshall’s audio-forward DNA, from their black faux-leather texture (both on the earpieces as well as the case) designed to pay a hat-tip to their nearly 60-year legacy of building some of the best amplifiers and stage monitors, to the classic M logo emblazoned on each earphone, serving as the iconic branding detail. In fact, unlike most tech-driven TWS earbuds, Marshall’s Mode II are more focused on delivering the crisp, punchy sound that the brand’s associated with. The earbuds come with Bluetooth 5.1 for unrivaled connectivity, as well as touch-enabled surfaces that give you access to Transparency Mode (being able to listen to the world around you) and EQ settings, among other features like summoning your phone’s voice assistant.

Ultimately, that fine tuned sound is only as good as the Mode II’s battery life, which boasts of 5 hours of wireless playback on a full charge, with a further 20 hours of use with the charging case. The Marshall Mode II TWS Earbuds is available to order now for US$179, with shipping starting March 18, 2021.

This sleek box instantly turns all the speakers in your home into high-fidelity audio equipment

Think of every audio device you’ve got in your home… standalone speaker units, headphones, earphones, your TV, record player, etc. Now imagine they were vehicles. The larger ones would be cars, trucks, the smaller ones like headphones would be bikes or scooters. In this analogy, if these audio devices are vehicles, the Dense Home is like a turbocharger for your vehicles. Designed to look like a slick, innocuous box that blends right into your home decor, the Dense Home is a stereo amplifier that just makes audio sound richer, louder, and frankly, more sublime. It boosts the ability of your audio devices by taking their input and amplifying the audio signal going in. Using a top tier Digital to Analog Converter (DAC), the Dense Home transcribes the digital input signal into a near-perfect, high-fidelity, amplified analog signal. This means music sounds richer on your devices, and sounds/instruments you never noticed in your favorite songs end up becoming more clear. In every which way, amplifiers help you listen to music the way it was produced in the studio.

If you close your eyes and imagine an amplifier, the chances of you thinking of something sleek are pretty slim. Amplifiers never received the ‘sleekification’ treatment that the rest of the consumer electronics industry got. Even today, studio-grade amplifiers are clunky, made of metal or plastic, and have wires coming out of all ends. The Dense Home, however, looks like a slick slab of marble resting on your countertop. Designed to appear as streamlined and modern as the rest of the objects around your house, the Dense Home was built to complement your space while looking quite literally clean and cutting edge.

The amp comes with a Corian surface on top that mimics marble or granite, and routes all the wires at the back. It works with wireless devices too, amplifying the signal to your headphones to make your music sound top notch. The Class D stereo amplifier on the inside helps effectively enrich and amplify your sounds while efficiently saving power, and the Corian plate on top supports touch interaction, allowing you to slide your finger up or down to control the volume, or select your input and output. The Dense Home supports analog as well as digital inputs and outputs, which means you could either replay your vinyl records at lossless quality, or listen to audio files from your computer or phone at the highest definition. Support for wireless output devices effectively means your regular headphones now become high-quality ones, and the Dense team is working on integrating Spotify too, so your entire playlist gets turbocharged to its highest quality!

JBL’s 75th anniversary special is a modern day amplifier encased in a uniquely retro aesthetic!

For audiophiles and general listeners alike, JBL carries some of the most iconic pieces of audio equipment in circulation today. While more moderate listeners consistently find JBL’s collection of wireless speakers to be both durable in product design and vibrant in sound quality, technical listeners can appreciate JBL’s fine-tuned commitment to producing commercial amps with detail-oriented, studio-grade standards at an unsurprising market value. For instance, JBL might have been one of the first audio equipment companies to have manufactured a commercial amplifier to confront TIM/SID and LSN problems with the SA600 Amplifier’s debut in 1966. Fast forward to 2021 and, in celebration of their 75th anniversary and tribute to their coveted equipment from the 60s and 70s, JBL plans to launch the new SA750 Integrated Amplifier, along with a limited stock of anniversary-edition L100 Classic 75 loudspeakers.

The new JBL SA750 takes me back to my childhood home’s downstairs audio system, coated in aluminum with teak wood veneer side paneling and stainless steel, sheathed control knobs for sensitive tuning. JBL’s SA750 offers a mellowed upgrade from the audio giant’s amplifiers of the 60s and 70s. With most of the front panel on the SA750 maintaining the original interface of dials and knobs from the late 20th century 600 and 660 SA models, some key differences were made, however, in order to accommodate modern-day technology. Doubling the SA600’s single audio jack for two, one for headphones and one for an aux cord, the new JBL SA750 offers options for both solo and group listening. The new hi-fi amp is also geared for Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, or UPnP connectivity and can transition between MC and MM to generate the signal for users hoping to plug in their pre-amp.

Just like in the 60s and 70s, JBL designed the SA750 wireless amplifier to deliver studio-quality audio and attempts to achieve this through integrated features like a DAC converter, which converts a digital signal into an analog one, delivering crisper sound from your speakers. Through compression, an MQA decoder also helps deliver the fuller, more robust audio quality listeners expect with hi-fi amplifiers. JBL SA750 is also ‘Roon-ready,’ equipping your music collection with a digital front-end that allows you to source your input from different home-devices, connected together by the installed Roon software. Finally, the new JBL SA750 comes with Dirac Live Room Correction, which removes sound coloration produced by interior rooms’ acoustics. The accompanying L100 Classic 75 loudspeakers are designed to match the amplifier’s teak wood veneer finish and offer bi-wiring with a rear network suited for today, along with improved woofer suspension to mask those low frequencies. Officially launching in May of 2021, JBL SA750 will go for $3,000.

This smart-speaker uses a conical chamber to naturally amplify its sound!

The HomePod Mini launched yesterday, and it got me thinking about how most people naturally place their smart-speakers on shelves, cabinets, and mantelpieces that are against a wall. Most smart-speakers utilize a 360° array of drivers to throw audio in all directions – because companies expect you to keep your smartphone in a centrally located position, but that’s a strange assumption to make on the part of a consumer. People keep speakers closer to power-outlets, just like they do with their Wi-Fi routers, so having 360° sound really isn’t a feature as much as it’s an oversight.

The Wacko Designs smart speaker concept builds on the logic that speakers will almost always be kept against a wall or in the corner of a room (closest to a power outlet). Instead of focusing on 360° audio, it uses a more practical method of channeling audio in a conical path. The Wacko Smart Speaker uses a single set of audio drivers, and a megaphone-inspired form to focus the sound-waves forwards rather than scattering them in all directions, amplifying them in the process. The driver unit comes with Mid and High-range tweeters facing forwards, allowing sound to directly travel in 180°, while a bass-radiator on the back channels low-end audio into the conical profile of the speaker, amplifying the bass to make your music richer and louder naturally. Obviously, you can talk to the Wacko smart-speaker using its native voice A.I., but a pretty nifty screen on the front lets you interact with it more naturally, tapping, sliding, and swiping to shuffle through songs, play/pause music, and increase or decrease volume!
