Slim And Loving It!

One of the perks at being with Yanko Design is that our editors get to travel a lot. For Essen (the red dot gala), Troy + his gadgets come in from the US and I bring my stuff from India. The common problem we both have is – Plugs! Charging our equipment was an issue easily solved by bringing along a charging adaptor, however their bulk and low quality soon became a concern. I’m kinda happy to have found the AViiQ Slim Travel Adapter, which is high on quality and design.

Most universal travel adapters are a pain because they are big and bulky and rarely fit conveniently into the laptop bag. The AViiQ Slim Travel gives you a single conversion from US 110V (Type B) to UK 240V (Type G) in a slim folding outlet adapter. The travel power adapter folds open to plug into a standard UK type G outlet and folds flat to easily store for travel.

It’s even worse when you’re stuck somewhere that doesn’t have any power outlets or you just don’t have the time to charge up your gadgets. Admittedly, the AViiQ Portable Charging Station won’t solve all of these problems, but you’ll never be without your cables again.

This time, the AViiQ station even has a battery-power, so you’ll be able to juice up your iDevices no matter where you are. There’s a 4-port USB hub allowing you to charge up to 4 devices simultaneously. It also comes with a 5200 mAh battery, which should allow you to charge both your iPad and iPhone almost completely. However, it does weigh 1.55 lbs, and measures 11 inches in length, so you won’t be able to lug it around in your pocket.

Gadget accessory maker AViiQ has released Ready Clips, a trio of 5.5″ USB charging cables that are easy to store and carry. You know what they say, the best tool is the one that you have with you. But they also say that opposites attract and that birds of a feather flock together, so maybe we shouldn’t trust those “they” folks so much.

AViiQ looked into the past and derived inspiration from an ancient device known as a “pen.” These pens usually had clips attached to their caps or bodies, so that they in turn may be easily attached to pockets, notebooks and ears. Before the clip was invented people would carry their pens by stabbing them into their arms or in their classmates’ heads. This caused a lot of pain and wasted ink. So thank goodness for the clip.
