1989 Batman Batarang Metal Bottle Opener: Alfred, Beer Me!

Because sometimes even Batman needs to unwind with a cold one after a long night of crimefighting, Entertainment Earth is accepting pre-orders for this officially licensed 1989 Batman Batarang Metal Bottle Opener. It looks just like the Batarangs that Michael Keaton’s Bruce Wayne throws in Tim Burton’s movie, but far less lethal to anything but bottle tops.

Is this Batarang a little too officially licensed for you, and do you prefer your Batarang bottle openers a little more…bootleg? Well, you’re in luck, because there’s also this previously posted Batarang bottle opener made by an Etsy seller that was inspired by the ones seen in The Dark Knight. Personally, I prefer the 1989 version.

The ‘heavy-duty metal’ bottle opener measures approximately 5″ long and 4″ wide and includes magnets embedded in the back for easy displaying on your Bat-fridge. Now all I need is an R/C Batmobile to drive to and from the fridge delivering bottles to me on the sofa and my life will have finally reached its peak.

Batman Batarang Bottle Opener for Bat Beer

Sure you can get all kinds of cool gadgets to open your bottles. Some of them are even made by Wayne Industries. But when it comes right down to it, all you really need is a basic batarang and bottle opener in one. It keeps things classic and simple.

Say you are Batman. You are on a rooftop observing some criminals and you need a drink. So you get a beer from your utility belt and pop it open with this bottle opener. Take a long drink and then throw your bottle opener at the criminal, pinning him to an alley wall. Now all you have to do is go collect him for Gotham PD.

Take another drink. It’s good to be the Batman.

Batarang Letter Opener is Worthy of a Billionaire Crime Fighter

One of my all time favorite Batman weapons is the Batarang. It’s a knife that looks like the bat symbol that returns to the thrower. I know all of Batman is make believe, but I always wondered how Batman kept from chopping off his fingers when it came back to him.

This Batarang is sharp enough to open letters, that’s actually what it is – a letter opener. I’d totally throw it at a fence, a bale of hay, or perhaps a rodent.

The Batarang letter opener is mad from some sort of lightweight metal. I wonder how long it will take someone to try hunting squirrels with this thing. Get your own at ThinkGeek for $24.99(USD).

Look closely, and you’ll see the Dark Knight himself is carved into the face of the pendant, which is made with contrasting sandblasted and high polish finishes. Basically it looks damn good and is probably the coolest Bat-necklace I’ve ever seen. Even the packaging looks cool, with foil labels.

This necklace is exclusively available from Guild, and is limited to just 75 pieces. That’s all there will ever be. You can get it at Oz Comic-Con Brisbane and Sydney, and a few other locations. It will cost you $200 AUD (~$176 USD), which is nothing if your last name is Wayne.

Holy Batarang Boomerang, Batman!

Victor Poulin makes all kinds of cool boomerangs. Even the glaive from Krull. He recently made this sweet Batman batarang, which works really nicely and comes back to the thrower. I just wish I could see the Joker get hit upside the head with this thing. Crazy freak!

In the video below, Poulin shows off the batarang like a pro. This thing measures 25.25 inches across even though it doesn’t look that big. He throws it and it returns to him every time. It’s a bit big for a utility belt, but it works like a champ.

It’s made of wood, so it is probably nice and light – and not as deadly as it looks. Poulin is a true boomerang master. Check out this other video of him playing basketball and starting fires with a boomerang. Great stuff.

How to Make Your Own Batman Folding Batarang

Have your butler clear off your work bench. Put your billion dollar company on hold! You have some weapons to make! Or you could just have Wayne Enterprises make these awesome batarangs. However, since most of us are not Bruce Wayne, we will just have to do it ourselves.

Instructables contributor Triumphman built this amazing folding steel weapon himself. He used an angle grinder to cut the shapes out of steel, then drilled a pivot hole. After that he smoothed and sharpened the edges, painted it, and screwed it together.

It looks great and folds up nicely to tuck into your utility belt. Head over to Instructables for the full details on how to make one for yourself. It looks pretty straightforward if you know how to work with metal and you have the right tools in your lair. No doubt, it looks horribly dangerous for the rest of us.

The Batarang Twin-Blade Folding Knife Probably Won’t Get Bruce Wayne’s Seal of Approval

Batarang

Everybody loves Batman. I mean, who doesn’t? Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy may have wrapped up last month, but people are still talking about how the movie ended and the future of the franchise, even until now.

Given its huge success, you can expect Batman-inspired stuff to crop up from now until they decide to reboot the entire thing. Stuff like the Batarang. It’s a twin-blade folding knife that features a bat handle. Unfold the blades and you’ve got a knife that will probably cut your hand while you try to use it for something else. In essence, the design looks awesome. When outstretched, the blades look like the bat’s wings, which was probably what they intended to do. However, it makes using the knife a wee bit more complicated.

Of course, you can just use unfold one blade at a time and use it like you would a normal knife. But still. The Batarang looks dangerously silly and will probably cut the palms of those who don’t really know how to use it.

The price for the Batarang ranges from $8.50 to $13, depending on the color.

Batarang Pocket Knives: The Dark Knife Rises

Forget tiny little pocket knives. This Batarang Pocket Knife steps things up a notch. It’s the kind of pocket knife that Batman himself would carry. Well, it comes in several bright colors that would appall The Dark Knight and his design sensibilities, but otherwise these Batarang knives look pretty awesome.

Batman Batarang Knife
It’s a Batarang, but it’s also a dual bladed pocket knife. When both blades are open it is basically an 11″ knife. Sure, it isn’t particularly practical, but it’s still a bladed weapon. It’s not supposed to cut your sandwich in half. It’s just supposed to look cool. The knives come in black, silver, red, pink, and purple. Three guesses which one the Batman prefers. They start at $8.18(USD) from Amazon.
