Fix Manufacturing Puts a Multi-tool in Your Belt Buckle

You can never have too many tools on you. But since we don’t have unlimited pockets, we can’t carry them all. Plus tools are heavy. That’s why multi-tools are so awesome. They let you carry an assortment of tools in a small space. Now, a company called Fix Manufacturing is offering some cool new multi-tools that fit in your belt buckle.

They are working on three different tool sets: Powder Pliers, Board Sword, and Wheelie Wrench. All three are designed to act like conventional buckles for holding up your pants, while doubling as a detachable multi-tool that you can take out and use when needed. Powder Pliers is a snowboard tool, combining three screwdrivers (#3, #2, and slotted), two box wrenches (8mm and 10mm), a 4mm hex bit, and an edge file.

The Board Sword is for skaters and combines three wrenches (1/2-inch, 9/16-inch, and 3/8-inch), two screwdrivers (#2 and slotted), a round file, and a safety blade. The Wheelie Wrench is for cyclists and has several hex bits (from 2mm to 6mm), two Torx bits (T10 and T25), two screwdrivers (#2 and slotted), two box wrenches (8mm and 10mm), a 15mm open-ended wrench, a spoke wrench, and a tire lever.

All three tools work with the company’s All-Time Belt. You can check them out on Kickstarter. Prices range from $25 to $35(USD) for the tool sets, and $65 to $75 including the belt.

Serenity Plaque Belt Buckle Makes Waistlines Shiny

I’m from Texas, and around here you don’t have to look very long or hard to see someone wearing a giant belt buckle. They usually come with hats, cowboy boots, and Wrangler jeans. If you want to fit in with the big belt buckle crowd, but aren’t into western wear, here is your ticket.

firefly-belt-buckle_1zoom in

This Firefly Belt Buckle is based on the builder plaque that was seen on the bridge of Firefly’s Serenity. The belt buckle is some sort of base metal alloy with a pewter finish and measures 4-inches wide and 2.5-inches tall.

You can pick one up for $19.99 at ThinkGeek now. That price buys you only the the buckle. You will need to supply your own belt up to 1-3/4″ wide. You can get one from just about any western wear store in the world.

GoldenEye 007 Mine Belt Buckles: TSA Unapproved

If Industries – the folks behind the cool arcade coin slot belt buckles – are back with another set of geeky accessories. These ones look like the proximity mine and the remote mine, two of the weapons from the N64 shooter GoldenEye 007. If they can’t get into your pants, then no one will.

If Industries isn’t selling the buckles as of this writing. Maybe you can tweak the 3D printed remote mine replica that we saw last year and turn it into a buckle.

Krang Belt Buckle: Waist Clan

Villain in a buckle, alien power! Let the disembodied villain use you as his exo-suit. Freakshop proprietor Christopher Genovese made this awesome oversized belt buckle featuring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s sworn enemy. I’m not sure how large the buckle is exactly, but it’s probably as large as a child’s head.

Christopher made the buckle out of urethane resin. Then he painted it by hand and finished it with a polyurethane clear coat.

Christopher can also add a mount to Krang if you’d rather hang him on a wall, but unless you have a person hanging on your wall, what fun is that?

Activate the Technodrome and head to Freakshop to order the buckle. It costs $190 (USD) and is made to order, so give Christoper one to three weeks to make you one.

Borderlands Belt Buckles: Straptrap

You don’t need pants to play Borderlands – I haven’t played Borderlands 2 yet so I’m not sure about its pants requirements – but if you’re really into it you’ll want to wear eight pairs of pants just so you can rock these fan made belt buckles based on the game. They were made by Imgur member Jellyroger. I bet you’re the one who’s jelly now.

borderlands belt buckles by jellyroger

As you can see, Jellyroger based the designs on the arms manufacturers in the Borderlands games. He gave each company a unique and fitting design. The Jakobs one is my favorite. Check out the other buckles in the gallery:

Jellyroger and his friend Cubewithincube – they sound like they’d make for an awesome cartoon – are currently taking a heat check on the interest for the belts. If you want to buy the buckles, let them know either on Jellyroger’s Imgur page or on Cubewithincube’s Borderlands 2 forum thread.

Playable Simon Belt Buckle: Simon Says Keep Your Pants on

Any kid from the 80′s knows Simon. The game with colorful lights that tests your brain. Now you can wear it as a fashion accessory. This belt buckle was created by If Industries and is entirely playable.

simon belt buckle
If this inspires you to make one yourself, it isn’t very difficult. You will basically be mounting the pocket-size version of the game on a round belt buckle. Once you do that you will be able to follow Simon’s lead no matter where you are. And you will have a nice colorful crotch accessory.

I think it would go well with a glowing Tetris inspired zipper myself. Would you wear something this geeky?

Belt Buckle Retro Gaming System Will Make Geeks Kneel Before You

Instructables member cunning_fellow made brass belt buckle with a crude handheld gaming device built-in. He calls it the Asteroid Belt, probably because the first game he’s making for it is an Asteroids ripoff.

asteroid belt by cunning fellow

I really like the brass case that cunning_fellow made for the device. It seems to be upside down in the pictures though. Or did cunning_fellow make it that way so it would be right side up from his point of view when he’s wearing the belt? Cunning fellow.

Head to Instructables to see more of the Asteroid Belt. Cunning_fellow clearly didn’t bother explaining his process in layman’s terms because the project requires advanced tinkering and programming skills. He did say, “If 1000 people all moan at me at once I could be persuaded” to make and sell more of the belt. He clearly underestimated the average Internet user’s moaning capability.

Arcade Coin Slot Belt Buckle: Insert Coin to Play

While it’s not quite as interactive as the Etch-a-Sketch belt buckle, this arcade coin slot belt buckle is even better, in my humble opinion. This belt buckle was designed by Seattle’s if Industries, and not only does it feature a genuine recycled arcade coin slot, it actually lights up.

arcade belt buckle

I don’t know if there’s any room inside of it for storing quarters, but that’d be cool if it did. Of course, I’m not sure what sort of message your significant other would be sending if they then pushed in the button to reject the coin. And where would it come out, your butt? Ok. That was childish of me.

push to reject

Unfortunately, it’s currently sold out, but if Industries says they’ll make these to order if you contact them directly over on Etsy. If your pants are falling down right now, you’ll just have to settle for the NES console belt buckle instead.
