YouTuber builds mind-blowing UFO jet boat you’d want to ride right away

If you have ever wanted a jet ski, I wouldn’t think you have imagined it in the shape of a UFO. Now, here’s a Vietnamese YouTuber who made a jet ski UFO and I am like, why not? Creator Tran Long Ho of Mr. Ho Thanh Che YouTube channel has spent much time sculpting and building this unidentified jet boat, before taking it to the water for a crazy ride.

The video – released on YouTube – which showcases the process of building the UFO boat in detail, starts with the simple tracing of a flying saucer base on the floor and the construction of a to-design arm from scrap material, which would later help Mr Tran Long Ho and his team to craft the basic structure out of what appears as usual sand.

Designer: Mr Ho Thanh Che

Built upon a sculpture of sand and later cement (to harden it), the UFO jet boat is a look-alike of a mysterious flying object. Even though it is not one! The creator used this sand and cement sculpture to mold a fiberglass shell for the saucer’s body.

The body is then coated with purple paint followed by steel frames that are used to hold this jet skis body secure. Next up, hexagonal cutouts are made from wood, which are then plastered onto the cabin frame for insulation. There are numerous windows cut out in the entire structure which bear acrylic panes and are also installed with solar panels.

The motorized door is a sassy way into the cabin of this mysterious boat. The cabin is pretty cramped for space but is neatly done – revealing no wires, pipes or the scrap it is made from. The inside is lit with LED lights, the cockpit has buttons for various onboard controls, while the interesting steering wheel bearing the words YouTube is pretty fancy.

Since the cabin is fairly low, the rider has to recline back in the seat and reach out for the speed padel when steering it over the waters. The engine – which is the same as one you’d find in a jet ski – rests under the rider’s seat and it powers the UFO jet boat for an impressive ride. There is no word on its top speed, but we can see it glide really fast (check out the video above to believe).

This electric foiling boat has exceptionally good range, smooth riding experience and luxe interiors

Last year Swedish boat maker Candela announced its partnership with Polestar to create a special edition hydrofoil boat that would be hard to challenge. The vision has met fruition in the form of Candela C-8 Powered by Polestar. This electric boat is a major upgrade over the C-7 and challenges other similar makers with its unique proposition.

The boat employs advanced hydrofoil technology to reduce the drag by exposing a minimum of the hull area to the water. This results in 8 percent less energy consumption as compared to conventional electric boats hitting the horizon. This ultimately results in extending the range – 57 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 22 knots. Driving it around at a top speed of 30 knots will decrease the range, still, it will be better than other options. As per Candela, the numbers are almost two times better than electric boats and even compare well with the combustion engine counterparts.

Designer: Candela and Polestar

What Polestar brings to the equation are the 69 kWh batteries along with the DC fast charging for quick juicing up. The 8-seater boat can also be charged with Polestar’s 11 kW three-phase AC charging port. According to Candela’s founder and CEO Gustav Hasselskog, the C8 makes it possible to travel to destinations previously only “reachable by combustion engine boats. The Candela C-8 powered by Polestar marks a significant breakthrough for electrification at sea.”

The electric boat is well within the 50 nautical miles excursion range stated by research done with boaters. So, you could go from Sweden to Finland in just one day, or traverse the whole French Riviera in mere hours. The option is cost-effective as well due to its premium range as stated by the maker. Teaming up with Polestar for the advanced batteries is the best decision for both. The shared goal will make it possible to transition to a sustainable future.

As for the looks, the electric boat scores very high with multiple shades of grey across the face. It might be unconventional but stylish nonetheless. The boat’s cabin is beautifully tailored and the seat’s upholstered for a premium feel for the riders – something akin to high-end automobiles. Coming at $450,000 the electric boat can be bought in carbon fiber hardtop or completely open version.

Batman-inspired Maverick GT Stormy Knight redefines luxury and sustainable maritime adventures

Wayne Enterprises and T3MP3ST have one more reason for Batman fans to go on a spending spree if they like exploring the waters. This is the Maverick GT Stormy Knight electric exploration vehicle developed by the two companies for the filthy rich. That’s because the eco-friendly boat is priced at $250,000. According to makers, “it is a first-of-its-kind, ultra-luxury commerce environment that immerses you in the world of DC’s Bruce Wayne, the billionaire civilian persona of The Batman.”

The limited-edition watercraft is a balanced iteration of luxury and high-end technology for the best experience venturing out in the waters. Only 27 units of this vessel will be created by T3MP3ST who have been redefining nautical adventures with innovative Electric Exploration Vehicles designed for the government agencies and the elite.

Designer: T3MP3ST and Wayne Enterprises

The 4-meter power boat is designed out of carbon fiber and stainless steel to optimize performance without harming the environment. The use of these materials keeps the total weight down to 1,300 pounds. The power comes from a 100 kWh modular battery that’s mated to a 350 hp electric motor. This enables it to reach speeds of more than 85 mph and have a range of 75 miles on a single full charge. That roughly equates to around six hours of runtime. The watercraft is loaded with an autonomous navigation system that has Garmin’s advanced GPS and voice command integration compatible with iOS and Apple Watch.

This EEV comes with high-grade customization to suit the needs of demanding buyers. It is crafted for a four-seat configuration just like a jet-ski, keeping in mind Batman and Robin would hop onto the ride whenever criminals decide to fox the authorities by taking the water route. Plus there’s space for two more to add to the fighting power. If buyers want to have more seating space, the company is also offering a larger version with a 30-foot RIB hull that can ferry 8 passengers. Top speeds on this one are considerably lower at 40 knots but it can cruise for eight hours on a single charge.

Those interested in buying the Maverick GT Stormy Knight luxury boat can head over to the BruceWayneX website for pre-order, or mark their calendars to visit the Wayne Enterprises Experience in New York City from June 3 to 10.

Maserati Tridente electric superboat redefines luxurious water adventures

At the Folgore Day event in Miami, Maserati revealed the world’s first convertible all-electric car, and we were impressed by another one of their unveils. This is the Tridente all-electric luxury motorboat that dots the Italian automaker’s presence on the waters as well.

Just picture a scenario wherein you arrive on a coast in your GranCabrio Folgore, and the Tridente powerboat has you covered for a day at sea. Completely electric, the powerboat is developed in collaboration with VitaPower, a seasoned EV marine company. The EV boat has traces of the Vita Lion powerboat in its DNA, but the Maserati influence is seen in the modern design and upgrades.

Designer: Maserati

The carbon fiber-hulled speedboat measures 34 feet long and allows fat-pocketed millionaires to explore the waters in luxury and comfort. The vessel draped in a beautiful rose gold finish has seating for eight, a swimming platform, and a sundeck bed. The interiors are done in cream to contrast the luxe exteriors and Maserati’s craft can be seen in the streamlined design. The hull is made out of carbon fiber to keep the weight down to a minimum and that helps the dual electric motors powered by the four batteries churn out a maximum of 600 horsepower.

According to Maserati, the powerboat will reach a top speed of 40 knots with a cruising speed of 25 knots for a range of 43 miles on a single charge. The batteries can be topped up in an hour with a DC fast charge connection which is great if you don’t like long delays before another escapade to the waters.

With a price tag of $2,660,000, the Tridente is the perfect companion for your supercar. That said, if you can own this baby, you’ll have to wait for 10 months before laying hands on it.

Jet capsule lets you speed on the water in a lighter, adaptable shell

If you’ve watched any movie or TV show that features lifestyles of the rich and famous, there is almost always a scene where all sorts of beautiful people riding all sorts of expensive looking water vehicles and toys. For those of us who will probably never have that lifestyle, we can just live vicariously through these videos and dream about jet skiing, yachting, or any other glamorous water activity.

Designer: Pierpaolo Lazzarini

Personally, I dream riding one of those cool looking closed capsule vehicles like this 2024 version of the Jet Capsule Super Sport. I’m afraid to fall in the water but I’d also like to speed on the water, so this seems like the perfect compromise. This new version is way lighter than its predecessor as the lightweight construction has reduced it to just 3200 kg which is 500 kg lighter. The single engine propulsion has a range of 570 hp to 850 hp and is able to reach 38 knots in 12 seconds so you could say it’s built for speed.

The upper structure of the jet capsule is made from carbon fiber which is made through vacuum-infusion molding, hence the lighter and more adaptable water vehicle. Inside you get a space that can seat up to 10 passengers but it is also fully customizable and can even fit in a dinette, bathroom, and beds if the customer wishes to have these optional features. There is a sunbed on the rooftop in case some visitors would like to sunbathe and it can be accessed through a rear ladder.

The Jet Capsule Super Sport can be used as support for several water sporting activities like parasailing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, etc. It can also be used just to speed along the waters or even enjoy some quality time in the middle of the ocean as it can switch to jet-drive while slowing down and full electric mode if you’re low-speed cruising. Again, this will remain a fantasy for people like me but if you can afford it, it seems to be an enjoyable toy to have on your vacation.

Spacuzzi lets you stay warm in a small jacuzzi in the ocean

What do you get when you put a boat, a hot tub, and a fireplace in the middle of the ocean? It sounds like the beginning of a joke, but this is actually something that apparently people have been dreaming of. Of course you now have small boats (and big boats) that can accommodate both the hot tub and the fireplace, but what if you just wanted a small group of people to enjoy these amenities with you while you’re lounging in the water?

Designer: Spacruzzi

From the name of the company and the product itself, you can kind of determine what it is or what it wants to be. It actually can’t make up its mind so it combined the three things into just one: a small boat that can fit in four-five people, a gas-powered furnace to warm up the passengers, and of course, a jacuzzi that makes it the perfect hot tub for when you want to relax with close friends in the middle of the sea or ocean instead of just your backyard.

Even when the sea is a bit cold depending on the weather, staying inside the Spacruzzi will keep you warm as it has a propane-powered “stove” that is able to regulate its own temperature. In case you’re concerned that you might blow up due to overheating, it has a safety system and an automatic shut-off feature in case you’re warm enough already. If hygiene is a concern, there is an internal filtration system that also serves as the circulation and heating system. Although of course, sharing a jacuzzi with other people is always a “risk” when it comes to hygiene.

The design of the Spacruzzi is inspired by a teardrop so there’s space for the furnace and a small table in the middle so you can place your food and drinks. And of course, enough space to fit in the four-five people. There is also a ladder on the side so you can go into the sea and swim your heart out and go back to your boat when you want to relax again. You also have the option to customize it according to the color, wood and metal finishes, decking, etc.

I still probably won’t want to spend time in a small space and a jacuzzi in the middle of the ocean with even my closest friends in the spa with me. But hey, if that’s your dream, you just have to get ready with almost $50,000 to make it come true.

This Porsche inspired speedboat is an amphibious 911 for automotive collectors

The Porsche 911 has stamped its authority on the roads all these years with the unique design and power to keep fans interested. So, what more could that Porsche 911 cabriolet be? A speedboat riding the waters in that sublime Porsche style, perhaps!

This Amphibious 911 is a Craig Craft 168 Boss up and nicknamed the Porsche Boat. The speedboat is up on Bring A Trailer for auction and given its appeal, the ride could go for a high price tag.

Designer: Bring A Trailer

You could call this a speedboat with Porsche skin as everything is not related to the iconic car in any way. That’s because it is powered by a GM-sourced 4.3-liter V6 engine, and hooked to a Berkley jet drive unit (with hydraulically-actuated reverse bucket) capable of forward and reverse propulsion. The twin Bosch round headlights are raised above the bow and elements like the mirrors, windscreen and curvaceous lines replicate the brand’s appeal. The badging and logos on the outside and inside also instill faith in its Porsche origin.

The fiberglass hull is clad in black and yellow color for a classic German automotive influence, and is well complimented by the matching interior. On the inside, this four-seater speedboat gets a premium stereo system, ski pylon, bucket seats and front storage for stashing up your essentials on a long water drive. That 80 mph speedometer, tachometer and gauges further add the element of nostalgia. Without a semblance of doubt, fat-pocketed buyers who already own the black 964 or 993-generation 911 cabriolet will want to get this home.

According to the listing the boat was stored for over 27 years, and last year got a V6 engine replacement. The seller also claims the Porsche Boat has been only used for cruising for around three hours. That includes the run time when it was with the previous owner. So, practically speaking, this speedboat is as good as new in that sense. At the time of writing, the bid has reached up to $21,500, and it’ll be interesting to see how much more it finally auctions for.

This entirely translucent wireless speaker concept brings honest transparency to consumer electronics

Our 2022 began on an incredibly exciting note with the #DoWhatFloatsYourboAt Design Challenge and we can’t be more thrilled to announce the winners! Instead of the conventional 3 winners, this time we’ve chosen 5 winning entries – Gold, Silver, Bronze, a special Student prize, as well as a new Honorable Mention that we added at the last minute because of how impressed we were with the entries! The challenge saw more than 1500 people signing up to participate and clocked in nearly 400 entries by the time the competition ended. The jury, headed by Katharina Stärck, Ayush Singh Patel, and Sarang Sheth arrived at 5 entries that delivered on the competition’s brief of rendering/designing the boAt Stone 1200F Wireless Speaker to make it look impactful and alluring. Over the course of this week and the next, we’ll introduce you to the winners and their designs.

The Bronze Prize went to Priyanshu Jaiswal (also known by his Instagram moniker @stang.id) for creating a speaker that focused not just on audio clarity but on literal clarity too! Priyanshu’s rendition of the boAt Stone 1200F turned the wireless speaker translucent, giving us a glimpse of the electronics and components within. In turn, this turns the speaker less into a mysterious monolithic block, and into a sonic artpiece that lets you admire the beauty within the speaker.

“Feelings and emotions are what drive our lives”, Priyanshu told YD. Pointing at other designs that focus on external detailing rather than showing off the interiors, Jaiswal mentions how a translucent speaker can captivate a user by allowing them to really see the speaker for what it is. Nothing hidden behind an opaque fascia, everything is visible to the observer, sort of like the Transparent Speaker or Harman Kardon’s Soundsticks. Priyanshu’s entry immediately stood out to the jury because of the fact that he didn’t see the speaker for what it was, but rather for what it could be. It involved detailing the insides of the 3D model, fitting audio drivers, a PCB, batteries, and appropriate wiring into the model, before rendering the final piece.

“I saw a teardown video of boAt 1200F… It took me by surprise, how well engineered the product is at such cost”, Priyanshu mentioned. “So I wanted to appreciate that through design and also have a nice product story at the same time.”

Priyanshu is an Industrial Design student from India. He describes himself as “a mad scientist” with an “intrinsic desire to explore new disciplines to add to my repertoire of knowledge.” As a Bronze Winner of the #DoWhatFloatsYourboAt Design Challenge, Priyanshu wins INR 5,000 boAt Products + KeyShot 10 Pro License (free upgradable to KeyShot 11).

The boAt 1200F speaker gets a deliciously colorful makeover with this Silver Award-winning design concept

Following Alex Casabo in second place, designer Lidia Gómez charmed the jury with her #DoWhatFloatsYourboAt Design Challenge entry’s subtle-yet-eye-catching color palette. The happy, almost summery colors of the speaker were a wonderful pick since they complement most interiors as well as most outfits – as opposed to the loud, in-your-face reds, blues, or blacks seen on other wireless speakers from companies like *cough* JBL *cough*.

“[I] decided to keep the original design of the boAt Stone 1200F speaker but I’ve chosen a color palette that expresses the wildness and young spirit of the brand. In the shots, I’ve also tried to reflect the fresh and powerful style that characterizes this speaker in a style that ‘floats my boat’,” Lidia told Yanko Design.

“The first step that I took in my work process was to choose a vivid and energetic colour palette that represents the boAt style”, Lidia said about her design approach. “Once I made my choice, I started playing around with different compositions and lightings in Keyshot, always taking into account that the renders had to be clean and minimalist to allow the viewer to focus on the lead of the scene: the boAt Stone 1200F speakers.”

Lidia Gómez is an industrial designer based in Spain. Apart from working in a research center as a mechanical engineer, for more than a year, Lidia has been exploring the world of product design. In her projects, she combines functionality and aesthetics with a special emphasis on composition and visualization. As a Silver Winner of the #DoWhatFloatsYourboAt Design Challenge, Lidia wins INR 10,000 boAt Products + KeyShot 10 Pro License (free upgradable to KeyShot 11). She even wins $10,000 worth Lifetime Access to Creator Club Master Classes on How to Succeed at Crowdfunding. Creator Club is the first community-based membership and e-learning platform for tech and design startups that help you master the product development process, using crowdfunding (Kickstarter/Indiegogo), e-Commerce, Amazon, and other strategies to bring ideas to life and turn them into products that drive sales.
